BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Rumors swirling that selfie sticks may soon be banned from the parks entirely... Rumor: Selfie Sticks to Be Banned from Disney Parks as of June 30 June 23, 2015 by bjkbrady There is a very strong rumor coming out of Disney today that will have selfie sticks banned completely from all Disney Parks as of June 30, 2015. A couple of months back, selfie sticks were banned from use on attractions with several Disney attractions posting signs at the entrance. http://theadultsideofdisney.com/rumor-selfie-sticks-to-be-banned-from-disney-parks-as-of-june-30/
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Along the same lines, a prior rumor about Disneyland Paris banning selfie sticks from Chip and Co... A little birdie told me that Disneyland Paris has banned selfie sticks. Not just on the rides like Walt Disney World and Disneyland. They may be banning the glorious selfie stick in the entire park all together! It seems like this no selfie stick thing is catching on because there are a few other places around the world that have also banned the selfie stick. http://www.chipandco.com/disneyland-paris-banning-selfie-sticks-214246/ And one other source - keeping in mind that some of these stories turn out to be a big game of telephone... @InsideDLParis are reporting that from July 2015, Disneyland Paris will no longer allow the use of selfie sticks inside attractions and on rides at Parc Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios. If this ban goes ahead and is enforced, Disneyland Paris will be joining a range of other venues who have banned the use of selfie sticks which can be used to extend cameras for up to 3 feet away from the user. In the United Kingdom selfie sticks are banned from the London O2 arena and the National Gallery. Elsewhere in Europe The Palace of Versailles and Rome’s Colosseum have also banned the use of selfie sticks on safety considerations. At Chessington World of Adventures, Alton Towers and the nearby Drayton Manor theme parks in the United Kingdom, selfie sticks are also banned on rides. In the USA Disney policy forbids visitors from using the sticks on its rides at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. A “No Selfie Sticks” sign has appeared at the Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and similar signs have been posted at Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland in California. https://salonmickey.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/disneyland-paris-to-ban-selfie-sticks/

BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
More fuel for the "bye bye selfie sticks" fire from WDW News Today... BREAKING: Selfie Sticks To Be Completely Banned from Walt Disney World Theme Parks, Not Just On Theme Park Attractions The ongoing war on selfie sticks at Walt Disney World has taken a more drastic turn. You may remember when we told you that the sticks were not allowed to be taken out on any rides or attractions a few months ago, well, now selfie sticks won’t even be allowed through security… By July 2015, guests will not be permitted to even bring these items into any of the Walt Disney World theme parks due to safety concerns imposed by the items being brought onto rides (and the rather careless ways some guests use them when not on attractions). Guest relations cast members will be assigned to the security screening areas in front of all of the parks to assist the security cast in dealing with guests trying to bring their “selfie sticks” in. If found, guests can opt to take the stick with them and leave, or they can check it with the guest relations cast member who will have the item stored, give the guest a ticket, and request that they retrieve the item upon leaving the park later that day. We don’t have an exact date for when this policy will be going into effect, but it should be sometime very soon, before July 2015 in fact. Stay tuned for more details as they become available. http://wdwnt.com/blog/2015/06/breaking-selfie-sticks-to-be-completely-banned-from-walt-disney-world-theme-parks-not-just-on-theme-park-attractions/ Further rumor is that this will take effect both at WDW and DL. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
And it would appear to be official! From Orlando Attractions Magazine... Selfie sticks no longer allowed at Walt Disney World parksJune 25, 2015 | Disney, Walt Disney World First they banned them on rides, now Disney has taken it a step further and will ban all selfie sticks from Disney World theme parks, water parks and DisneyQuest. Starting next Tuesday, June 30, when guests are seen at bag check or in the park with selfie sticks, a cast member will escort the guest to Guest Services where their stick will be taken and held until they are ready to leave the park. Disney said in a statement to their cast members, “We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast. The use of selfie sticks also compromises our ability to deliver on The Four Keys Basics: Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency.” Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland will also ban selfie sticks starting on July 1. There’s no word on a park-wide ban at Tokyo Disneyland or Disneyland Resort in California, although they already have signs banning them on rides. No other theme parks in Florida currently ban selfie sticks. http://attractionsmagazine.com/selfie-sticks-longer-allowed-walt-disney-world/

BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Oops... thought I posted this on Friday, but I guess I meant to and forgot (stupid day job). This includes how CMs have officially been instructed to handle the new policy banning selfie sticks... Disney Parks Around the World Officially Ban Selfie Sticks Friday, June 26, 2015 | Posted by OTPN Administrator As you might have heard in the past, Disney Parks in Florida and California recently banned selfie sticks from being used on rides and attractions. Today, a Disney Parks spokesperson confirmed that soon Guests will not be able to use selfie sticks at all when inside the parks. Here's the official statement: We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for our Guests and Cast. Therefore, like many other venues, Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park will no longer permit selfie sticks* effective June 30, 2015. Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland theme parks also will be included in this policy change, effective July 1. When selfie sticks are observed at Guest screening, Guest Screening runners will escort the Guest to Lost and Found nearby (operated by Guest Relations). Guest Relations will tag the device and give the Guest a claim ticket to retrieve it upon exiting the park. If a selfie stick is discovered inside the park, Cast Members and Park Leaders will explain the policy and escort the Guest to a regional Guest Relations location. Guest Relations will tag the device and give the Guest a claim ticket to retrieve it upon exiting. Runners will transport the tagged devices to Guest Relations at the main entrance for Guest pickup upon exiting. Capturing cherished Disney memories via photography is always encouraged when visiting Disney Parks. Cast Members will continue to assist Guests when taking photos, just as they have always done. * A selfie stick is an extension pole with an attachment for a camera or mobile device. The sticks typically are extendible up to a few feet with a clamp on one end to hold the device in place. http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/2015/06/disney-parks-around-world-officially.html
