BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From the Disney Food Blog. Anyone remember the last time Aunt Polly's was open?? If you want to go, you better hurry. According to this article it will only be open until April 11th. News! Aunt Polly’s is OPEN (for a limited time) in Disney World’s Magic KingdomMar 30th, 2015 by Brooke. After a hiatus of, oh, about forever — it seems that Aunt Polly’s on Tom Sawyer Island is serving food and beverages once more! This is one for the books! After all, it’s been eons since we’ve seen anything substantial for sale here. Even the vending machines that have been in place here in recent years hadn’t been in service. But thanks to Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster for giving us the heads up that Theme Park Insider is reporting the spot is open for business! Now, before you get too awfully excited, you should know that the menu is limited. Very limited. Make the trip over to Tom Sawyer Island looking for sustenance, and you’ll find Sandwiches (Turkey and PB&J), Veggies and Hummus, Chips, Fresh Fruit, and an Assortment of Cold Beverages, including Lemonade. Note that, at least for now, they are not offering fountain drinks. While it doesn’t sound like much, there are two reasons to love this move by Disney:it’s truly amazing that a spot that hasn’t served for so long is back open; and Magic Kingdom desperately needs more dining spots. So even though it’s fairly remote — you know, being an island and all — this fits the bill nicely. We are hearing chatter that right now, Aunt Polly’s is only slated to be open through the end of the Spring Break rush, and Cast Members have said that it will be shuttered once more April 11. Still, if there is enough business at the rustic spot, it could be opened during other busy times of the year. And think about how fun a menu could be here! Personally, I vote for the return of the Cold Fried Chicken you used to be able to enjoy in the shade of Polly’s Gazebo… We’re Dreaming of Fried Chicken on Tom Sawyer Island! After all, this is a great, often under-appreciated corner of Magic Kingdom, shunned in favor of flashier attractions. But can you really beat exploring old forts and taking perilous trips across old-fashioned bridges? I think not. And after all of that playing, a hearty meal or snack, or even a cold glass of lemonade — bingo! Frozen Lemonade! — would be the bee’s knees. http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2015/03/30/news-aunt-pollys-is-open-for-a-limited-time-in-disney-worlds-magic-kingdom/
DaveInTN 3,247
I used to love Aunt Polly's. It was such a nice, quiet spot to get a bite or some ice cream.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I'm betting with this week's crowds, it'll be a welcome retreat from the madness.
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
On one hand, I'm tempted. On the other hand,I can pack my own sandwich or eat somewhere serving something more interesting. This could be a success, but they need a real menu.
h2odivers...Ray 952
We haven't been to the island in forever. And this isn't going to make me go. But it does make think about it.
YENSIDCAMPER 66
I would definitely do it, especially if the brought the cold fried chicken back.
DaveInTN 3,247
They should come up with a menu that is so good and/or so unique that people will hop on those little rafts to go get there. Us Fiends should come up with the perfect Aunt Polly's menu. So besides the cold fried chicken....what else should they serve? I think they should bring back the ice cream. I'm guessing there are no actual cooking facilities there, so that does limit things. twiceblessed....nacole 433
Wow... I didn't even know they had a service counter over there :D
DaveInTN 3,247
I think they should completely redo the island. Use it in a manner similar to the one at DL....but better. Build a "theater under the stars" for a new nighttime spectacular on the island. Build a draw bridge to the island, and stop the river boat in the evening so the bridge can be lowered. Build the theater seating so that the seats generally face Cinderella Castle, but there is also a stage for a show. Hold nightly performances of an all new Fantasy production featuring princesses and classic Disney characters....and have the show culminate with Wishes, viewable from your seats. This would draw a lot of the crowd away from Main St and the hub, and provide another way they can cram more guests into the park. Plus another premier FP+ to offer. [insert Z snap here] Speaking of chips... add steak fries to the menu.

And who are we kidding? All they have to do is throw Elsa out there.
