How about "Criss-Crossing the Nation in One Last Gasp to See it All Before Both Major Political Parties Ruin it!" See why I was holding back?

This is amazing. Good for you guys. Can't wait to hear about it.

That's a good answer, but the common link between Dolly and the Nebraska sand hills I was going for is "things that are not flat".

It's probably too late since your planning is done, but I love the site Roadside America for a list of weird and wacky things to see. I used it for my recent trip to Philadelphia with great success.

I haven't checked it in a while. My biggest concern is there being parking big enough our setup (big truck, big camper) at these and having time on our travel days.

But, I'll check it out as we go. I do definitely want this to be part of our trip!

We are very excited! Our perfectly mapped out route has had a wrinkle thrown into it- my wife asked me yesterday morning "could we be in Branson, MO by September?" She found a Fulltime Families "NOT Back to School" Rally on September 10.So, major deviation and we are excited!

That's part of what your trip is all about, right?!! :) Have a blast and please post pictures! Branson is somewhere I'd really like to visit. Sounds like a great deviation!! Yay!! :)

I need to get a blog post and pics pulled together. But, we've finally left Clermont & Disney. We did an overnight stop at I-75 RV Park - longest story short, decent, cheap, and almost "on the highway". And now we're settled into Stone Mountain, GA. Many thanks to Nacole for site recommendations and some preview pics a couple of weeks ago. This site is AWESOME, even if we needed a little Crisco getting in.

I'm playing a little bit of blog post ketchup (get it? catch up)..: pretend if you will that I am still back in Clermont and doing Disney stuff. (Most of what you see here will be shown in my current trip report.)

And then some bonus content regarding getting individual wheel weights done (Escapees SmartWeigh).

that's good.  That, and Trail C right behind it, seem to be the best areas.  We used to have our gathering every May in the orange sites (Trail C).

I've actually come to realize that, other than the nightly price ($52/night), I really like it here. Last night, the kids went off to the playground and after not coming back for a long time, I went and found them in a field with like 15 other kids. They had a great time- even with being washed by hose (connected to a sink, so it was warm) on the deck before letting them in the camper!

A couple of blog updates:

1) a way overdue update from our time at Stone Mountain Park Campground in Atlanta, GA:

Now Or Never - an RV Tale: Week in review - Stone Mountain, GA

2) we left Stone Mountain and headed to Cincinnati, OH. We stayed at Winton Woods, went to the Underground Railroad Museum, and to the Fernbank Museum. All are highly recommended.

3) the last update, but still a couple of weeks behind where we are is from just above Detroit/Dearborn, MI in St. Clair, MI. We had visits from Pennsylvania family, went to the Henry Ford, and attended a charity motorcycle ride. It was a good time.

The long and short of these are the pictures which are up on Flickr in albums by the same names.

You can also cheat and catch up to where we are now:

- we left St. Clair and headed to Sycamore, IL for a visit into Chicago

- from there to Oak Lake Family Campground in Fair Oaks, IL

- we back tracked to Elkhart for some service work

- headed to Springfield, IL where we saw the world's largest covered wagon but no real *Lincoln* stuff

- and finally, where I stand now- St. Louis for the Arch and zoo.

Are you going up in the arch??? I can't even watch YouTube videos of that without needing a paper bag lol. I'm soooooo claustrophobic

YES! We did! We actually leave here tomorrow and head to Branson where we're supposed to spend 2 weeks. We'll see if we actually do, given our inability to follow a plan.

But, the Arch has been an item from my bucket list. I had no idea that the ride up was claustrophobic-inducing, but it sure is. Fortunately I'm not claustrophobic whatsoever, but my poor wife is. She actually did OK (from what I know- outwardly, at least). There's a little window that shows you the steps and innards of the arch itself. There's room for maybe 5 seats to sit in each pod.

But the views from the top were just OH-SO-COOL.

Here are our pictures from here @ St. Louis. The Arch was the first thing that we did. :)

Doug, I asked this on the other board but incase you miss it, where did you sat for the Arch? We need a place for next year, thanks

Casino Queen RV Park. You'll fit just fine.

It's a place to park, but not much of a campground to hangout at. The spots are all blacktop with some stone strips between them. They're all long pull-thrus. No picnic table, no fire. There are some community/shared picnic tables and grills on a grass median in the center of the park. Small playground with a fun see-saw- I know how you like that. :)
