Grumpy and Grandma 740
All the washers and dryers are going to be replaced in the next couple months. All the washers will be front loaders and the equipment will be all Maytag. Some will now be cc only and a couple will still be coin operated. Unfortunately non will work with the MBs like they do on the ships. For those of you who have stayed at AoA and PO the set-up will be the same. Memphis 105
Hope they have better luck with Maytag than I did. Been trying for over a month to get a 5 year old front load washer fixed. (FYI NEVER use Sears service) My old washer was 1/4 the price and worked for over 25 year with only minor DIY repairs. I would be using it today but if fell victim to a house fire. Thanks for the update. Nice to hear about the upgrades.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Thanks for keeping us up to date, Dave. This may be a good time for me to ask about something I heard a long time ago. Are the washers and dryers owned and operated by Disney, or is it an outside contractor? TCD

Specularius 102
Guess with this change and the arcade dying out, there will not be any need to haul 20 pounds of quarters in the camper.

When I talked to the fellow today I mentioned the fact that the current front loaders are usually out of service and his comment was "these machines aren't ours, we currently have AoA and POR. We actually thought that last year when a "non CM" was collecting the money from the machines.

We actually thought that last year when a "non CM" was collecting the money from the machines. That's what I heard too. Very smart on Disney's part- they don't have to worry about maintaining the machines, and probably get a hefty cut of the collections. But, I'm pretty sure I've seen Disney CM's removing the money from the change machines. TCD

mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Fortunately with ice, a quick stop at the trading post solves that problem. We NEVER use the ice machines.
sherryberry 35
We bought a couple bags at Walmart the other day, just because we were already there. I think the stuff you buy in the stores is better than the ice machines anyways - I just think if they're going to have ice machines at the comfort stations, they should make sure they're working. :)

We did once this past trip (I'm not sure why exactly) and it was practically melted coming out of the machine. All other ice was purchased at the TP.

Katman1356...Jason 1,140
From the pics I saw on Facebook too they are the same as I had here at FQ. All front loaders here. Vending machine was $1 for detergent and $1 for two dryer sheets. $2 to wash, about 34 minutes. $2 to dry, about 60. Worked well and had no problems using my wife's card to pay.
