Specularius 102
I have not but I researched it a lot in preparation for a family vacation to Ireland. I discussed it with two people that live in England and they gave me all the details they could along with a lot of pictures. We decided it was best to stay in hotels and B&B's with a rental car instead of renting an RV. It was a wise decision due to the size of the roads and finding an empty site at the caravan parks was like finding one at the Fort. They book up way in advance, at least in Ireland. I also paid close attention when we passed one in our travels and they all looked the same, just like the picture above.

It would be cool to tour Europe in a small Class B motorhome. But, I'm sure it would take a lot of planning. How was the driving in Ireland? Did you need any kind of special license? It is a big deal to rent a car there? TCD
Specularius 102
Driving in the country side was very nice, but very tight roads. It took a little bit to get used to driving in the right hand seat of the car and driving on the left side of the road. No special license needed and very easy to rent a car. Driving in Dublin after being awake for 27 hours, with mostly one way streets and no right hand turns allowed.....was Harrowing!! I also recommend renting a European GPS with the rental car. I thought that renting a small Class B would be great, but it was cheaper to rent a car and stay at B&B's, and there are fantastic B&B's everywhere we went.

I am toying with the idea of a trip to Europe. I like the idea of touring Ireland by car. TCD
Specularius 102
For a first time vacation in a foreign country, you could not ask for a better place than Ireland. Every where we went the local people were so nice and helpful. They never acted like you were a bother to them. Almost all the B&B host stated that they would rather rent to a foreigner than an Irishmen because the foreigners never caused any troubled, were in bed early, and liked to talk about the local community and learn about it. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
They may be #2 by attendance, but TripAdvsior shows them as the #1 rated park in Europe. I can believe that. DL Paris may have bigger attendance numbers simply because they have 2 parks. This was a typical Irish road: Yowsa. It's beautiful, but I can't imagine towing a camper around on roads like that. It's beautiful, but I can't imagine towing a camper around on roads like that.Hence the recommendation that was made to me to not jump into an 8 foot wide rv, with the steering wheel on the wrong side, driving on the wrong side of the road, and traverse down these kinds of roads. I will say that I only had one incident where habit took over and I drove on the wrong side for a short period of time. Luckily there were no other vehicles close at the time and I figured it out real quick.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
I'd say that was a sound recommendation! I'm not sure how quickly/easily I could adapt to just the whole "wrong side of the road" thing. I have a vision of sitting at an intersection trying to figure out how to make a left hand turn. keith_h
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
However, the honeymoon cabin is good for 1-4 people. Seems to me anything less than 2 or more than 2 is defeating the honeymoon. :rofl2:

They were arranging a "commitment ceremony" for the 3rd person until things went south. I actually know 2 different trios, come to think of it.

Avatab.... Steve 124
Maybe a couple of these "caravan parks" would work at WDW and alleviate some of the crowding at FW..... after all they have different levels of hotels, yes? These could be the "Value Campground" and a moderate level would have a few more amenities, a little more space, etc.
