AuburnJen 777
I got a call today from my parents, who decided that today would be a good day to visit DTD. The were absolutely taken aback from the mayhem of the parking. For those who are not aware, (and I wish they had snapped some pictures) the only parking available for DTD is in the new parking deck at Disney's West Side. Now, it is a good 5 stories, however, it is still, just one parking deck. They told me that at each of the other entrances, there are CMs standing there directing traffic away from the once-paved parking spaces. They are now dug up in preparation for the new 3 decks that Disney is preparing to build. My parents parked in the deck on the third floor, and then had to walk the whole way back to the original section of DTD where they wanted to make their purchases. They said by the time they got back, they were pooped. My question is that when they get all this parking deck mess done, is there going to be parking allotted for large vehicles like campers and travel trailers and the like for people who would like to shop on their way out from their vacations? Or, is Disney going to cram them in overflow at the Fort (where we know there is SO MUCH ROOM NOW) and convince people to bus themselves over to shop and then bus themselves back to then leave? The future looks perplexing.

They said by the time they got back, they were pooped. And unless something's changed recently, the only other alternative is the ONE bus stop at the Marketplace - which means if you want to go as far as the West Side or even PI, you've got a heck of a hike there too. Plus since that bus stop isn't big enough to handle all the traffic, they're doubling up the bus stops (or were a month ago). We could SEE our bus, but couldn't actually get ON it because we had to wait for the AoA bus to load and leave first so our bus could use the same spot.
DaveInTN 3,247
We met INC's niece and fiance for dinner at DTD on 12/30. We arrived at Raglan Road before them. They texted that they were at DTD and just needed to park. They arrived at Raglan Road 45 minutes later. That's just plain stupid.
AuburnJen 777
Oh, and my mom was talking to several CMs and they told her that all the CMs have to park at Team Disney and walk to their posts on duty. That too is one heck of a hike.
Grumpy and Grandma 740
There were alot and I mean alot of people parking over by Team Disney and walking over to DTD not just CM. I think once all the construction is done things may return to some semblance of normarlcy. At least I hope.
mouseketab.....Carol 1,261
Even before all this craziness started in the parking lots, we decided to stop at Earl of Sandwich one time with the camper in tow on our way out..... HUGE mistake. We had to park way over near T-Rex out in the back, then the long hike to Earl, then the long line for food, then the long hike back. Won't ever do that again. GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
I'm avoiding that place until completion. There's nothing there that is worth all that hassle. Although now that Jason's seen the beer list at Raglan Road, he might disagree.

Although now that Jason's seen the beer list at Raglan Road, he might disagree. Raglan Road is worth the hassle. The rest of the place can be tossed into the lake, including the Legos, Earl of Crapwich, and Ghirardelli (except the free samples).
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Raglan Road is worth the hassle. Agreed! Although the black cherry ice cream at Ghirardelli is worth a stroll if you happen to be there anyway.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
With thanks to "the universe," who seems to just know when we're talking about stuff, this just somehow randomly showed up in my in-box. It's dated December 2014.
Millermouseketeers MaryAnn 150
We almost stopped on our way out. Glad we didn't.
Cyclonic 55
Thanks Mo, looks like it many new easier to simply park in one of the overflow lots and walk, for those not opposed to walking.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Just wanted to mention unless I am completely wrong I believe there is a boat as well that goes from one end of DTD near House of Blues to the Marketplace and back. If your tired and dont want to walk that may be an option for you.
Momof6....aka Marty 769
We took the boat twice. There is a midway stop as well. It was slow, but lovely.

CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
All this craziness is the main reason we didn't even go to DTD on our last trip.
Grumpy and Grandma 740
Ok good not completely crazy then. The boat from OKW stops down by the theater end and the one from PO stops at the Marketplace IIRC.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
But there is also one that goes from one end to the other. That's all it does back and forth.
Duane 152
Ok good not completely crazy then. Really Jason, you hang out with this crowd on a reglar basis and make that statement? :rofl2:

Tri-Circle-D 2,059
We say parking deck. Interesting. My Auburn daughter was telling me about where the parking deck is that she has to park at for her job, and I didn't know she was talking about a parking garage. I had never heard the term before.
