duel gas/electic hot water issue

circuit breaker not tripped, only get hot water from any fixture for few seconds, then warm a few more then goes to cold.

Any thing to look for for cause. Camper new in June. Try with electric only, gas only and both the same.

If it was a home water heater I would think the thermostat is broken and turning off the unit.

Might have air trapped in tank. I use the pressure relief valve to bleed air occasionally

Also check the bypass valves. If not I. The proper position it could be the water is hot but it's mixing with the cold water.

Is this a new problem? Did the water heater work before and now doesn't?

If so, first thing I would do is drain the water heater by removing anode rod. Once drained, let it fill back up making sure all air is removed from the tank. You can do this by opening the relief valve when filling it up.

Next, you could have a blockage in your lines. A little more difficult to find.

And lastly your thermostats may be broke. Most have a reset button on them. You can try that first. Worse case, they are usually pretty cheap and easy to replace. Mine were $10 and took me 10 mins to replace.

Seems it was air in system. Tank has drain plug, drained system, filled with water with relief vave open. Got hot water longer, so reopened relief valve purged more air. Now seems to work as should, now I got the dishes washed. Thanks for the input Fiends.

I believe some air in the tank is normal to allow for expansion of the heated water.  Your problem may have been that there was no air in the tank.

Glad to hear it is fixed. Like mentioned before, that commonly happens in the spring when people don't have their bypass valves right and let cold water mingle into the hot water.

In fact, it's a little known trick to adjusting the water temperature out of the water heater. Crack your bypass valve open just slightly and it lets cold water in that mixes as it comes thru the lines.
