Tried Sanaa for the first time last November and LOVED it.

Squash soup with roasted pumpkin seeds and if I remember right, some kind of yogurt in the middle. This was the seasonal soup.

We loved the bread service with all 9 accompaniments (in no particular order)... Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeno-lime pickle, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, Tamarind Chutney

The heat varied from mild raita and hummus, to super spice sambal and coriander chutney (my favorite).  I'd go back here just to sit in the bar and get this.

My entree was the "Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned" - you get a choice of two served with Basmati Rice or Five-grain pilaf: Butter Chicken; Spicy Durban Chicken or Shrimp; Beef Short Ribs; Sustainable Fish with Goan Curry.

I got the pilaf with spicy Durban shrimp and butter chicken.  Everything was terrific, including the pilaf, but you'd better like a fair amount of heat with the Durban shrimp.

Dessert was coconut cheesecake with spiced berry compote.  It wasn't a large portion, but for us it was just enough at the end of a filling meal.

They describe it as Indian-influenced, and I would actually say it's much more Indian than anything else.

Not everything is super spicy, but some things definitely are, so if you're not a fan be sure to ask.

Our waiter was great and explained everything to us.

If you're not a fan of "different" spices, this one may not be a hit, but if you like very flavorful food that's different and/or like trying new things, I'd put this one on the list.

First time at Sanaa (though we're all big Indian food fans.)

Butter chicken, and lamb curry I believe.

Note that although they serve it in three separate vessels, our server actually recommended emptying the bowls out onto the plate below. If I'd ordered this, that's what I would have done.

We were too full for dessert.

I know this is the "Pictures of Food" thread, but for Sanaa I need to include a few pics of the place too.  :)

Bread Service with 9 accompaniments.  Come here just for this!!  We got it with the 3 kinds of naan - all baked to order and amazing.  They changed the presentation on this from last year, and I like this one better as the dips are arranged from most mild to most spicy.  In order starting from the top left...

Cucumber Raita, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal, Spicy Jalapeno-lime pickle

My favorite is the Coriander Chutney, which doesn't taste anything like you'd think and is so yummy.  I also liked the Sambal, the Garlic Pickle and the surprising hit was the Tamarind Chutney.

That day's sustainable fish was an amazing piece of snapper served over some really delicious vegetables with shrimp.  No idea what the sauce was, but it was light and delicious.

Our final dinner on my most recent trip was at Sanaa.

My sister said all she wanted was bread service, but I wanted to stuff my face with more than that. LOL.

Bread service doesn't come on that giant piece of wood anymore, it's on a smaller piece now.

If you look closely in the background of the photo you'll notice the two pieces of gluten free naan on a plate, and also a second tray of dips. When we ordered 1 bread service + 2 pieces of gluten free naan, they brought the second tray of dips just for my sister to prevent cross-contamination. Wow! Ended up having to get a few more pieces of bread to make sure we finished off all the dips. :)

The kids ordered an oxtail starter that they said was just OK. I didn't try any.

I went for the lamb shank. Why is it so hard to get vegetables? The green stuff was a bit like swiss chard/collard greens, and the "Tandoor Vegetables" were basically onions and some slivers of sweet pepper for color.

I would have loved to have the kheer for dessert but I was too full (and overloaded by 2 weeks of sugar!).

My sister ordered the kid's meal butter chicken and it came with a dessert - Pumbaa's something or other. Chocolate pudding with Oreo crumble, candy rocks, and gummi worms. And green icing grass apparently.
