American Idol Experience Closing at Hollywood Studios

Recommended Posts

Just saw this posted to Facebook by Inside the Magic...

Apparently American Idol Experience cast members were called in last night and told that in 6 months the show is closing at Disney's Hollywood Studios. No replacement named.

ETA: No longer a rumor.  Final show is 8/30/14

Orlando Attractions Magazine just posted this...

The American Idol Experience attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be shutting down in early January 2015.

Although Disney hasn’t officially announced it yet, Idol cast members were told the show would be limiting the number of daily shows starting in mid-July, then closing the show completely the first week of January 2015.

The show, which opened in 2009, allowed park guests to try out to perform for other guests and to compete for the Golden Ticket, which allowed them to skip the line at an “American Idol” television show audition. Many “American Idol” finalists got their start at the attraction over the years.

We have reached out to our Disney rep for a statement about the closing and will update this post when we receive one.

I heard they are going to put a cinnamon roll bakery in that space.

DIT's dream!

I really liked who wants to be a millionaire (was that in the space before?) but the floor always freaked me out.

I really liked Millionaire too, but it wasn't in the same space.  It was near TSM.

They should use all the old props and signage from that stuff at a new resort.....would be cool to walk through.

They "used" to have lots of old props and signage hung up in the "Comedy Warehouse" However, that's now closed too :(

A few props usually manage to make it to the Boneyard Section of the Backlot Tour.

6 posts... yep, that sounds about right.  :kickinass:

Maybe this is the start of the demo for Star Wars Land or an addition to pixar place?

LOL

Except it's kind of smack in the middle of the park.  Although it's not so far from Star Tours...

Yup. Wouldnt surprise me if it sat empty like the Odyssey and Wonders of Life.

Ugh.  I really hope not.  They're already wasting a ton of space in HS

Isn't the Drew Carey Sounds Dangerous empty too?

I think it randomly opened during busy times last year but I haven't heard that it's been open in quite some time.

We never saw that ...

You wouldn't have seen much.  It was mostly in the dark.  :rofl2:
