GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
First! Congrats! And if you're first, I'm sure everyone knows what that means.... I'm in! Welcome! Ugh! I thought I was!! 2nd is good too. You weren't first, but you found a way to get two posts out of being second. Here we go! You know Dave, it is Mother's Day so it should be ladies first Good point! Cool! I really need to camp at Lake Lanier one day, since it's so close! That way, if the weather gets really bad, we can just pack up and be home in no time! I'm very interested in hearing more! Yes, you should camp on Lanier. There are several nice campgrounds. Bald Ridge is Jason's favorite and my 2nd favorite. I've been called a mother.....well, nevermind. BTW, you should be in time out for the stuff you put on the Dollywood thread. Shameful (or shameless)! Wow! I pretty much just lurk here but if I can get first page, I'm in. I brought out a lurker! I feel honored. Thanks for posting! I'm in and on page one!Woot! Woot! And it looks like Dave and Beckers are trying to hog all of page one. Great! Yes, Dave has competition. I'm in! Whoooo Hoooo! Go Braves.
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
I think i am here. If I am not can some one tell me where I am so I can find my way. Lalala. You are. Congratulations and welcome to the cool club. I'm in.Figured I better get in quickly before page 1 fills up. You made it! I'm here also!!!!!! Yay!!! Nice to see you here! Wow, Kelly. You are luring lurkers out for your trip reports now! Right? I'm moving up in the world. Or is it mr. Kelly and he is undercover to avoid another jort debate?!? It's definitely Kelly. Mr. GaDawgFan isn't as big of a loudmouth. With all the bickering between Beckers and DIT I'm surprised I made it on page 1. But you did! Congrats. Dave should get credit for somewhat controlling himself. I'm surprised too. Congratulations. And remember what they say....it's always Beckers' fault. Nice try. Dave started it As always I am here, I think. You are! Congrats! Not sure if you want to be..... Of course you do!

Oh gosh, could you imagine raising Dave and Beckers if they were siblings? Dave and I are just providing entertainment while we wait for updates True, I was slow. We're not amused.Ok, maybe a little. Lol We are. They are a lot of things, but at least one of those things is funny. I'm in! I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip. The lake looks nice. I'll bet Mr. GDF's jorts and crocks fit in there. TCD It's a nice lake! Hmmm.... I can't remember if the crocks made an appearance. I bet they did. I'm in! Welcome! I am in! Hooray! GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
Friday Let’s get to the report! Remember, this is Mother’s Day weekend, so I got to make a lot of decisions. That means the weekend was awesome! Our weekend trip began Friday after work. Check in is at 4 PM, but they’ll let you check in early if no one is occupying the site. That was the case with us, so Jason drove over early and began setting up. The site was great! We were both glad we took a chance on it. Great view when grilling If you are looking at the lake, there is one site to the right and then the campground beach. But we could also swim out the back of the site (yes, I already posted this but figured I’d say what it was.) To the left there’s another site. There isn’t much privacy here. It’s wooded, but there aren’t many low bushes. It took Z barely any time to get in the water. It’s still pretty chilly for me. Jason was continuing to set up. Playground across the “street” View of our site from the edge of the water Usually around this time we would go get our boat and beach it at our site, but the weather was looking bad. It’s about a 40 minute boat ride from our marina to the campsite, and I didn’t want to get caught in a storm. That happened to us once when Z was a baby. Once is enough. So we decided we’d just relax, cook dinner, and get the boat tomorrow. It was raining a bit, so we put up our canopy tent. Some ducks came to visit. Z liked feeding them. We had a simple dinner. And started a fire. Look, no jorts or crocks. You can see it’s raining, but Z doesn’t care. He wanted to dig. The fire was still going, despite the rain. My kid does some weird stuff. It started raining harder. This is Z’s “you expect me to come in out of the rain” face. Selfie The sun began to set and the rain was dying down. We just hung out by the fire and relaxed. I spent a little time here too. And then it was time for bed. It wasn't a very exciting afternoon and evening, but it sure was relaxing. Tomorrow we were hoping to get the boat and hopefully have some better weather. Stay tuned for that update.
superloopers 2
I am sure it was very relaxing despite the rain. That looks like a very nice place to camp.

Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Wow, what a great campsite! How far in advance did you book it? I wanted to know more about the campground, so I Googled- it's operated by the Army Corps of Engineers, and it looks like peak rates are $32 a night. Is that what you paid for that waterfront site? What's that you got on your hot dog? Cheese? It all looks great so far. Thanks for sharing. I wish there were campgrounds like that close to me. I always end up at the Fort. TCD Well, we booked a different site a couple of weeks ago, but it wasn't one of our favorites. This site opened up a couple of days before we went. I'm guessing someone cancelled because of the weather. You can book up to 6 months in advance. The site we're in is pretty much booked all summer. And yes, it was $32, but all the Corp sites are only partial hookups. That's not a huge deal to us for a weekend trip though. On my hot dogs... yep, it's cheese. Yum. I think everything is better with cheese. And as far as campgrounds go, there are worse things than always ending up at the Fort, right???

TCD Have you never read one of our Defeated Creek trip reports? DC is also Army COE....and looks very similar to this campground. Waterfront sites there are full hookup and $25/night. You need to ditch the damn Fort and come to our GG.

But, I'd love a waterfront $32 campsite within a short drive of my house. Have you never read one of our Defeated Creek trip reports? DC is also Army COE....and looks very similar to this campground. Waterfront sites there are full hookup and $25/night. You need to ditch the damn Fort and come to our GG. Yes, I've read them. I guess I didn't pick up on the fact that DC is an Army COE property. I've checked what we have in Florida- and we have nothing like what y'all in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama have. I guess Florida didn't have any good rivers to ruin and turn into hydroelectric plants. TCD

At least I think you do. I imagine if you built a large dam in Florida you'd end up flooding the whole state.
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
Kelly, does this campground have a dump station? One with fresh water to use our flush system? If so, we could handle a GG there.

TCD is too big of a celebrity to attend GGs out of the state of FL. Pretty soon, he's going to be getting special media invites to Disney. Maybe they'll invite him when the new Starbucks opens at AK. I guess Florida didn't have any good rivers to ruin and turn into hydroelectric plants. TCD It is nice to have inexpensive, nice campgrounds nearby. You guys are lacking the mountains that make most of our campgrounds so pretty. You sort of need a change in elevation for the whole hydroelectric concept to work properly. At least I think you do. I imagine if you built a large dam in Florida you'd end up flooding the whole state. You know what.... I have dam pictures coming. I took them just for you guys. Kelly, does this campground have a dump station? One with fresh water to use our flush system? If so, we could handle a GG there. It does have a dump station. I'm not sure if it had water. I stay away from that job, but I will ask Jason when he comes home. Some areas of the state could use a good flooding. TCD Can I suggest a place to start?
GaDawgFan.....Kelly 799
Saturday This was my view when I woke up. Pretty cool, huh? Don't worry, Jason was watching Z. Notice he's already in his bathing suit. The boys decided they would do some fishing. And I cooked breakfast. BACON! Z likes the idea of fishing. He just doesn't like the part where you have to be still and have patience. Yum! Breakfast is ready! And it's an excellent time to eat the rest of the tater tots. After we ate, Z wanted to go over to the beach area. Feels crowded. You can see our campsite from here. You can also see the dark stuff in the water. Later they had someone coming to clean that out. Don't worry, they have prepared for emergency situations. I went to the rest room. And look, they have laundry here. We decided to go get the boat. Our marina is 10-15 minutes from the campground by land, but about 40 by water. That's OK with me because I like boat rides better than car rides. Z was tired, so I made him a comfortable spot in the shade. With yucky weather, there's no one out, and the lake is smooth. Ahhh..... (ignore my sandy carpet; Sanford had a good time last weekend.) Over the past few years, our marina has gotten fancy. They have an open air restaurant that usually has live music on the weekends. The lake is never this calm on a Saturday. Hey look, we're coming up on the campground. Can you see our site? We beached the boat. Man, it needs a bath! We met the people at the site next to us. Their daughter is about Z's age. They had fun together. Their site had this little beach. I had some hammock time. From there, we hung out for a bit and Z swam. Then we were debating what to do. I had the idea to go to Sunset Cove for a drink and appetizers. It's usually PACKED on the weekends, but the lake wasn't crowded at all. I thought it might be a good time to check out the new menu and spend some time there when it wasn't crazy. We'll see if Jason agrees to go in the next update.

We have a Crest Deluxe III 25'We love it. I had a Sea Ray 210 bow rider. But we rented a pontoon one weekend and put the sea ray for sale on Monday. You know what they say... h2odivers...Ray 952
I'm trying to run my post count up so I keep posting separate thoughts. The more I see a picture of Jason the more familiar he looks. He is either from oklahoma, the jorts and crocks lead me to believe this is true. Or he just has one of those faces.
