BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
A Whole New Ride: Disney Monorail Cab For Sale Posted by Samuel Reiman at 10:47 am This cab led the red monorail to Walt Disney World’s grand opening in 1971 in Orland, Fla. (Photo courtesy eBay.com) It glides as softly as a cloud, there’s no chance the track will bend, and it comes from the most magical place on Earth… but we can’t promise a full-on song-and-dance ensemble breaking out at your local courthouse. This 1971 Walt Disney World Mark IV Monorail Train is now listed on eBay, with bidding closing at 4:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, May 7. This cab led the red monorail during Walt Disney World’s grand opening in 1979 in Orlando, Fla. Most of the original cabs were destroyed after the Mach VI monorails came in in 1989, but this one retains all of its original components such as doors, seats and controls. The cab has some extensive wear from use and would most likely require local pickup, but Hakuna Matata, it truly is a major piece of Disney history for anyone to own. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I wonder what the story is behind this monorail car? If you read the Ebay ad carefully, they disclose that it's located in Georgia. I've heard there was a monorail car on display in Georgia at a place called the Tyrone Depot. I guess that's a place for Honey Boo Boo types to get married in a nice junkyard setting. Here's a link to the place: http://tyronedepot.com/node/1 A quick look on Bing maps confirms that this is our monorail: Street view: You'd think they'd take better care of something worth $190K. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
You know, this has gotten me to thinking. Doesn't Lou have a house "near Atlanta?" Do you think Lou lives at the Tyrone Depot? TCD BradyBzLyn...Mo

DaveInTN 3,247
Check out the interior pics. The lever is intact. All the seating is still there. Which unfortunately would have to be ripped out to do the RV conversion. But the lever can remain. In fact, I'm thinking of putting the bathroom in the front cab, and rigging up the lever to flush the toilet. Katman1356...Jason and BradyBzLyn...Mo
Lou... 3,118
In fact, I'm thinking of putting the bathroom in the front cab, and rigging up the lever to flush the toilet. Now that the monorails at WDW will be automated and won't need a lever pusher, they could do that too. They don't allow guests to ride up front anyway, so why not put a toilet there? Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I found a blog article about this monorail. Supposedly, it's been at this junkyard, sitting outside, since 2002: http://micechat.com/54874-monorail-red-tyrone/ Also, did you notice how they didn't post any photos of the rear of it on eBay? This might be why: I'll bet this thing is VERY rough. TCD BradyBzLyn...Mo
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
7 hours to go in the bidding and so far there have been 44 offers. I'm assuming none are close enough to the asking price.
Lou... 3,118
I'm betting that it runs just as well as the current WDW monorails, so get those bids in.
