DaveInTN 3,247
Dollywood is getting its first on-site resort hotel. It looks very nice. http://dreammoreresort.com/ A vacation at Dollywood is not cheap by any means, but I think it does fit the budgets of more Americans than Disney World does. I doubt Disney feels threatened by Dollywood, but every capital improvement places like Dollywood make gives people another option to spend their vacation dollars. But....I guess for every American that opts to go to Dollywood in the next year rather than WDW, there are 3 Brazillians to take their place. Now, if only Dolly would build a nice onsite campground like the Fort....that would make a nice, huge pair of capital improvements. BradyBzLyn...Mo
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
LOL ... Dolly is our motorhome's name. Big chest, booming voice ... you get the picture. BTW, David refuses to go to Dollywood. I don't know why.

Beckers 1,136
Maybe we should flood their suggestion box for a campground BradyBzLyn...Mo

DaveInTN 3,247
Maybe we should flood their suggestion box for a campground I think the problem is that there are literally dozens of campgrounds around Pigeon Forge already. But....an onsite one with walking or tram access to the parks would beat them all IMO. I'm just not sure if there would be the return on equity for a campground there, when they could reserve their land for bigger projects in case this hotel is a hit. Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Unless Dollywood has "great big tracts of land" they probably wont bother with a campground. BradyBzLyn...Mo

Rumor has it there is ample room for a campground in the valley between the two mountain peaks. BradyBzLyn...Mo

Lou... 3,118
I doubt Disney feels threatened by Dollywood. With attendance numbers at about 1/3 of Epcot, you're probably right.

laflow 2
We have actually been to Dollywood several times. Being an annual pass holder there is like 6 times cheaper than Disney. Might not be as big, but there are some great roller coasters, very friendly people, clean, well taken care of and great surroundings, (insert joke here). If I can't pull off a Disney Trip, Dollywood is a pretty good alternative.
