BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
A review of the recently updated California Grill has been posted to the Disney Food Blog...http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2014/04/24/guest-review-califonia-grill-at-disneys-contemporary-resort/ Some excerpts... Carrot and Cilantro SoupThe ingredients made the soup. Spiced Paprika Oil helped to balance the sweetness of the carrot with just the right amount of heat. The soup was topped with Lime Blackened Halibut, adding a nice textural contrast to the puree of the soup and garnished with citrus coriander bloom. h2odivers...Ray 952
I love it there. The food is awesome and we always have dinner there so we can watch the fireworks from our table.

BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
We made 2 trips here in Oct/Nov. One night we walked up and were able to get a seat at the sushi bar, in fact we were the only ones there. The other time we had an ADR. The food was amazing both times as usual. This platter is a combination...pork belly nigiri in front (holy hannah!!)tuna 3 ways in backspicy kazan in the middle - amazing as always This was the appetizer which is described on the menu as "Wood-fired Oysters, Roasted Beef Bone Marrow Emulsion, Baguette Croutons" - amazingly good. The oysters and foamy deliciousness melted in your mouth. This might be the best dessert I've ever had. "Heirloom Apple, Fig and Dried Cherry Compote, Roasted White Chocolate Mousse, Brown Sugar Ice Cream, and Candied Walnuts"

keith_h 420
When we were there in November we just ate at a table in the bar. There was no wait and we had a great view of the MK. After your first review of the Pork Belly nigiri sushi we tried it. We also had the Tuna 3 ways and the Yuza marinated shashimi. Afterwards we stuck around to see the fireworks. Which is what threw any food budget we had out the window. 3 hours of food and drink. Well make that more like 3 hours of drink and food.

LOL - yep, that'll do it!! The night we sat at the sushi bar we originally asked for a seat in the lounge and they told us there was a large party up there and there was no room. They didn't offer up anything else but DH thought to ask about the sushi bar and they said "oh yeah, plenty of seats there!" There were also some seats at the regular bar when we went up. So the lesson is, when walking up, ask if there are seats in the lounge, bar or sushi bar. keith_h
