DaveInTN 3,247
I, for one didn't mind the wind on the way up; it was the fog on the way down that bothered me. Yes, there was that.

Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Could you imagine a Blair witch type movie with Bob running the camera? Does Bob know how to run a camera? Can he still run? By his own account he expected the walk up the hill to take him out.

DaveInTN 3,247
When I last left off, we had gotten back from our visit to Desoto Falls and lunch with our new buddy the Appalachian Troubadour. It was now Sunday afternoon, and it was still drizzly, foggy and chilly. We put Anna in for a nap, and the older girls snuggled into their bunks to rest. INC and I wanted to explore some of the trails, so we decided to head back out to explore. For the first part of our journey, Stella tagged along. We headed down the hill, first stopping at the check-in office, where they also have a small store, bathrooms and a museum. One thing I love about state parks are the interpretive displays they put up. INC wonders why I take the time to look at this stuff, but I always figure if somebody took the time to put it together, I should look at it. This display took a few minutes to view, but then it was time to move on. A short walk from the store was the beginning of a boardwalk trail. This is a relatively short trail, but an easy hike when you have young ones or anyone with mobility issues along. It gives people a chance to get into the woods a bit and see some beautiful sights like this. SELFIE ALERT!! At the end of the boardwalk, we decided to press on into the woods further. A trail lead further up the creek, and eventually a bridge crossed back over the creek. I like this picture showing the creek going between some big boulders. We continued following the trail through the woods, and saw lots of big boulders. This park of full of rocks, I'll tell you. I like how these trees are growing between the rocks. The trail we were on eventually wound back to the campground, and at that point Stella decided to stay back, allowing INC and I to go on a little bit of a longer hike. We headed back down the hill past the store, across the road and onto another trail. This trail winds along the top of the canyon toward the park inn. There are a couple of waterfalls along this trail too. ANOTHER SELFIE ALERT! The view down the gorge. Foofy doesn't care for bridges, so we carried her across this one because it was so high. Looking towards the park inn, you can see another waterfall and the inn behind it. We had originally planned on getting to the inn to eat one time, but never made it. They do serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant, and the menu looks pretty good. Another waterfall shot. Right before reaching the inn, we came upon this last bridge on the trail. I stopped to read the sign, but INC is not a rule follower so across she went. I took the picture and then stood there laughing. She had no idea what was so funny. Of course, I had to cross to keep up with her. We wound our way back to the campground at this point. I'll stop again to see if anyone else wants to post anything further. Otherwise, I'm pretty much out of pictures but will post one last update wrapping up our portion of the stay. Hopefully at some point Carol will post some more of her pics, or anyone else that took any. Plus, we all have been looking forward to Bob's telling of Fog On The Mountain. h2odivers...Ray 952
Great pix. Thanks for the warnings about the selfies. Lol. I'm just glad you had some pretty gals photo bombing your selfie. Yeah sure it was foofy that was afraid of the bridge. One dumb question...does the creek flow year around or is it seasonal?
