dvccamper 32
Great parade photos! We saw the parade and really enjoyed it. I didn't take any pictures though as at the last minute a family not from this land squeezed themselves in next to us and impeded my view. Grr. I was really impressed with how vibrant the colors were in the costumes. They did a really nice job on this parade.
Memphis 105
Those CMs that walk and dance have got to be in great shape. They go from side to side and backtrack then do it all over again. Not to mention doing it in the heat of the day. I sure hope they wash those outfits every day. I can't wait to see this in person. As big as these floats are you will be able enjoy them even away from the parade route.
DaveInTN 3,247
Yes, those are fairies from Sleeping Beauty....Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. They also appear in Sophia the First now. And they have an apprentice, Miss Nettle. If you've ever seen an episode with Miss Nettle, you wouldn't forget it. She's voiced by Megan Mullally...a distinctive voice for sure. If you are wondering why I know so much about this....you can thank Anna. She could watch Sophia 24/7. She has a season pass on her iPad. And a Sophia pillow. Sophia pajamas. Sophia doll and playset. You get the idea. Oh, and darn straight Ms White should be walking. She's a second rate princess, IMO. She's just lucky they don't make her wag the dragon's tail. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Props to Lou for pointing out the iPad doofus. Do we have an official name for them? I just call them iPad guy or iPad lady- whatever is appropriate. That lady had a nice cover on hers. Great parade photos! We saw the parade and really enjoyed it. Did they yell "Fuego!" at the dragon? Those CMs that walk and dance have got to be in great shape. They go from side to side and backtrack then do it all over again. Not to mention doing it in the heat of the day. I sure hope they wash those outfits every day. I can't wait to see this in person. As big as these floats are you will be able enjoy them even away from the parade route. Agreed. They are going to be hating those costumes in the summer. BigTom 76
Really not much to tell about our trip in Lake Ranger boat. We were waiting on MK boat, CM came up and told us to put on life vest and she would transport us to the MK. Don't remember her name, was several years ago, but enjoyed talking with her she had been driving a Ranger boat for 10 or 12 years and was very was a very pleasant way to start the day and do something a little different. Seals 111
TcD you have distracted me from this trip report with that Instagram Info. Pulling up one # that leads to others and you get lost in the world of stuff I can't believe people post.Me too. It is just unbelievable what some people will post. They seem to think they are just posting to their friends. I don't even have a Twitter account. I randomly clicked and ended up on someone's Twitter account where she posted a photo of her one night resort reservation for her birthday with the reservation #, all the guests names, her local address and her home address and phone#. Another place I got stuck was the Twitter page for @dcpproblems for the Disney College Program. Definitely a look behind the magic, but some very funny venting comments about park visitors. Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Great parade photos. Thanks. If you would like to see some really good ones, check out Devores' photos on this thread: http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/9816-new-festival-of-fantasy-parade-coming-to-mk-in-2014/?p=348432 They did not. I felt like yelling "Fuego!" in their face. But it would have made a poor vacation memory for my kids to see their mother escorted out of the Magic Kingdom. Good call. That would be a poor memory. On the other hand, it would be legendary. How many props are you going to give him? Lord knows we don't need his head getting any bigger than it already is. LOL. Don't pick on my buddy, Lou. Oh Lordy. Kimmie's ghost got me good.TCD, I have a missions for the twins. Find out if big Wendy has an Instagram page. That ghost got mad when KFK averted her eyes. That is a good mission. But, we have reached the conclusion that Big Wendy was there on the college program and has taken her dolls and sketchbook and returned to wherever it is she came from. Peter Pan is relieved. We are saddened. Hey, leave Beckers alone, she knows exactly what she's doing. She's my new favorite Fiend. Hey- a Lou post on a TR! Rare! Eyes were averted. Carry on. :) Will do. There will be some additional eye aversion needed for part of the next update. I'll give you a head's up. I think the end of the parade is circus themed? No doubt the dresses on that last bunch of ladies are circus themed- like a circus tent and the Storybook Circus part of New Fantasyland. But the float before that seems to have a Fantasia theme with the dancing hippos and the little Pegasus horses. But, then they put Pinocchio and Dumbo on the float. Those two have a definite tie to Fantasyland. But, not a tie to the Fantasia movie. Seems like too much is going on there to me. Now that's a cool story. I've never heard of that happening before. What a fun thing for the grandkids. And you. Me too. Oh boy. Just what I need. Another distraction. But, how could I not look at that? You would think college kids would know better than to post that kind of stuff. Or I should say, if you didn't have college kids you would think that. TCD
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Goodness it seems like this TR is dragging on. But, if I keep posting updates, we will eventually get to the end! Happens every time. So hang in there! It's update time. WARNING: for those of you who don't want to see parade photos, there are a few more that will show up after the first couple of photos in this post. There are a few, and then that will be all. The parade photos in this post don't reveal any big secrets, but I did want to let you know, just in case. So, we had seen the parade. That was the second big new thing we got to do today. The first was the FP+ for BOG lunch. As I mentioned somewhere back, there's a third new and noteworthy thing still to come. But not in this update. It will come later. This was the scene at 3:19 pm. The parade had just finished passing, and a wall of guests was walking behind: There's one of those Dapper Day people there on the right. If you have a good memory, you might remember that today was our day to use our Epcot FP+ reservations: When I made those reservations, it was when there was a glitch in the system, and it was letting guests book without the tiers at Epcot and Hollywood Studios. That's why we had FP+'s for both Soarin' and Test Track on the same day. Normally that's not possible. Those reservations were made before we knew about the parade premier, and before the BOG lunch FP+ for today. If it wasn't for the fact that I had been able to reserve both Soarin' and Test Track on the same day, I would have changed our FP+ reservations to the MK for the day. But, who knows when, if ever, anyone will be able to use FP+ for Soarin' and Test Track on the same day? I didn't want to give that up. So, I left the Epcot FP+ reservations as they were. You may question why I wasted one on the Living with the Land boat ride. My daughters did, so it's OK. The reason is that I couldn't get a Maelstrom FP+ in between the Soarin' and Test Track time windows. I think I could have done it by moving out the Test Track return time to a later time. But, the plan for the night was to ride the rides in Future World, and then head out to the World Showcase where our dinner would be comprised of selections from the various special Flower and Garden Food Booths. My plan was to hit Soarin' as late as possible in our return window, the ride the boat, then look around at some of the Flower and Garden displays including the butterfly garden before hitting Test Track at the beginning of our return window. After that, we would be done with rides and could move on to the grazing around the World Showcase. It was a good plan. For now, though, we were in Frontierland surrounded by a mob. Lou was still there. He asked us where we were heading next. I told him Epcot. He said no thanks. And he disappeared into the mass of humanity surrounding us. Nice to see you Lou! So, it was 3:20, and we needed to be at Soarin' by no later than 5:05 pm. Plenty of time. I suggested to the girls that we get in some shade and/or air conditioning and wait a bit to let the crowds thin out. Then we would make a break for it. The twins headed in to the gift shop right across from us. I was fine waiting outside in the shade. It wasn't a hot day-it was just uncomfortable in the direct sun. I leaned up against the wall. What luck. There was a Master Sorcerer seated right across from me: Check out my man: Snappy dresser (black socks even). And, a whole book full of Sorcerer of the Magic Kingdom cards. Good thing the Sea Shell Girl didn't see him. Who knows what could have happened? There were two rocking chairs over to my right, and past them some more Dappers on the porch: It is a personal goal of mine to one day spend and hour or two sitting in one of those rockers and just watching what walks by. I will do that one day. Mark my words. But, the rockers were occupied today, and we had places to go, so we moved on. We waited a good 10-15 minutes. Then cut through to Adventureland, over the bridge, and then into Casey's and through the Emporium. Among the TCD gang, that is called "the air-conditioned short-cut." I thought we would emerge from the gift shop near the beginning of Main Street, and then walk on out. But, I hadn't planned on this new parade being a slow goer. Which apparently it is. Because this is what we found when we walked out of the gift shop at 3:40 pm: Those times are accurate. The parade was completely past us where we stood across from the Country Bears at 3:19 pm. But, it was still rounding the end here at 3:40 pm. I thought it would have been long over by now. Hey- look who's on the back of that float over there in that last photo. Pluto! We didn't see him when that float passed us. DIT will be happy to know that Pluto gets to ride on a float while his girlfriend has to walk. We were stuck at the moment. Couldn't go anywhere. So we waited it out. The dragon was coming around the circle on the other side of us. Maybe I could get that fire shot I missed earlier: Do you see that guy there with the umbrella talking on his phone. Seriously? I kept snapping away, hoping for that fire shot: But I struck out again. The poor guests along this stretch missed the fire. I guess the dragon was out of Fuego at this point. Finally, the last float passed by in front of us. It was now 3:42 pm: Here we go: Look at all the people up on the Train Station. I guess Devores is up there somewhere, but I can't find him: We shuffled along with the crowd toward the exit. I spied a great photo opportunity on the way- a kid in a sweatshirt with a dragon head hood. But some dumb girl stepped in my shot. Rude: That last photo was taken at 3:45, so despite the slight delay leaving, we were doing fine with time. We had over an hour to get from here to Soarin'. We marched up the ramp to the express monorail, and were ready to board by 3:47: We had managed to get here right in front of the huge crowd you can see in the left corner of this photo: Uh-oh. What's that I see peeking over the top of the monorail track?: Look closer: It's an Abomination Photo Bomb! Curse that Four Seasons! We were able to board right away, and by 3:52, we were cruising along the Highway in the Sky non-stop to the Transportation and Ticket Center: Here we are passing over that construction site that we saw earlier set-up in the corner of the Seven Seas Lagoon. They seem to be assembling something else here now, but I'm not sure what: The beautiful weather we were enjoying today more than made up for that rainy day we had when we arrived: Here's a look back toward the Magic Kingdom as we rounded the bend- you can see the construction area we just passed over there in the corner, and the castle and Space Mountain off in the distance: As we continued around the track, I caught a glimpse of the construction going on at the Polynesian. It's starting to look like something: Let's zoom in on that last photo: Look at that. They are building little individual cottages on stilts out there in the water. How nice would it be to stay in one of those? $1500 a night nice is what I've heard. I've had the pleasure of viewing the MK fireworks from the beach that these units are being built in front of. I guess the rich folks in those cottages will now enjoy that view. Also, did you see the Abomination Photo Bombed me again? Here's a look at what they're hiding behind the fenced in area of the Polynesian parking lot- nothing real interesting. But, that's a lot of parking spaces that haven't been usable for a long time: Here's one last look at the Polynesian construction, this time from over the top of the Transportation and Ticket Center, just before we entered the monorail station: Here's a zoom on that photo: I think those little cottages are going to be super nice. But, out of my price range, unfortunately. So, we made it to the TTC. So far, so good. Now all we need is an Epcot monorail, and we will make that FP+ return time no problem. We will pick up the rest of our journey in the next update. TCD
DaveInTN 3,247
I'd like to see Ms White with a dog collar on being walked by Pluto. Wouldn't that be special? Regarding those bungalows at $1500/night....have you priced airfare to Bora Bora? Makes the price of a Poly bungalow downright cheap in comparison. Of course, they won't be quite as pretty as the ones in Bora Bora.
