devores 382
It was stray embers from the fireworks. Its not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. It was a small fire easily extinguished by a firefighter and a fire extinguisher. The area was evacuated as per operating procedures, but the ride was reopened about 30 min later. There was no structure damage and the only thing that caught fire was some foliage/leaves on the roof. This happens at least once a week. This is the first fire in a guest viewable area though. Most of the time its the wooded areas behind the MK. Disney has procedures in place to deal with these incidences.
Momof6....aka Marty 769
Glad everyone and everything is okay! :D I always get nervous at fireworks that someone or something is going to catch fire. My family says i worry too much. I think I am more like the character Monk from the USA network TV show. People think I'm crazy, 'cause I worry all the timeIf you paid attention, you'd be worried tooYou better pay attentionOr this world we love so much might just kill youI could be wrong now, but I don't think soIt's a jungle out there
Memphis 105
We watched the fireworks from that area one time when the wind was blowing pretty hard and I was really surprised at the amount of debris that was falling on us. One piece was about 1/2 the outside shell of one of the mortars that landed a few feet from us with a big thud. It must be pretty common because there were a ton of CM's walking the area cleaning up.
