Looking at a stop here on the way to the Fort in June, has anyone been here? Looks very nice but not sure about the toll to get in, looked at the web site and saw $6 a day to cross but then saw oversize vehicles ( RV's) $90, if so that would price it out in my opinion. Any 1st hand info would be great.

Also still looking for info after the Fort on this thread http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/11427-looking-for-some-info-for-next-summers-trip/ any help here would be great also.

Never been to Jekyll, but how long is the stop?  When we lived in the DC area we usually stopped for a few days at Hunting Island State Park on the way to FW.  Nice beach front campground, but if you are looking for "activities" they are few and far between.

Will you be looking for the creature?

No but maybe we might bump into Mr. Hyde

Never been to Jekyll Island, but we have stopped at Hilton Head Island, a few hours north.  Good campground at Outdoor Resorts.  About a mile from the beach but within walking distance to good restaurants and supermarket.  I don't remember the toll to get onto the island, so it couldn't have been too much.

Shhhh..... stop telling people about Hunting Island!  It is getting harder and harder to get a good campsite there.

Seriously, wonderful beachfront campground, but has ravenous mosquitoes.  Unless you can get a site right on the row closest to the ocean, you will get bitten many times.

Funny, Ive never run into the ravenous mosquitoes there.  I'm afraid to camp in the row closest to the ocean as I always think I may wake up out to sea.  Poor Hunting Island is washing away quickly...

Family members used to meet us there and rent a cabin.  This is the last one of the State's rental cabins.  For those who have never been there, this cabin used to be beachfront (on dry land).
