Wall-E 0
I was at the fort over Memorial Day weekend and they have poured new pedestrian side walks next to the existing paved path to the trading post. Loop 700 was closed because of replacing the drainage pipe at site 705. Some people were allowed to back into the exit of loop 700 to occupy about 5 sites.

FEARtheEERS 18
The pedestrian path was needed. Did they add lighting or is the existing lighting enough? I am amazed at seeing the Polaris rangers there. Wow!
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I have some photos to share of the completed project. These are taken starting down by the Settlement Trading Post, and heading out of the area, toward Big Pine Drive. Here you can see that instead of having the new sidewalk run parallel along the cart path to the Settlement area, they had it cross the cart path and run through this little island of wilderness which the cart path split and went around: The cart path fork closer to Pioneer Hall is not affected: But, the fork of the cart path closer to the 100 loop now has been blocked off with posts so guests using the sidewalk can cross on the cart path: This fork of the cart path is now blocked off with posts, so all carts now will have to use the fork with the increased cart traffic from Pioneer Hall: The sidewalk itself is nice: The layout of the new sidewalk isn't convenient for guests who want to go to Pioneer Hall or Trail's End- they are going to have to walk all the way out and around, or will have to cut through this new mess of sand in the golf cart parking area: The new sidewalk means that guests on foot will be walking much closer to the VIP cabins and sites on the outside of the 100 loop: Oh well, privacy is overrated. This part of the sidewalk runs parallel to the cart path: The sidewalk aligns with the crosswalk at Big Pine Drive: Looking back down the sidewalk: New sign: Another new sign: It's a nice sidewalk and all, but did it really need to take as long as it did to install?: One last shot, from across the street: Now that they're finally done with the sidewalk, I wonder what's next? BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Thanks TCD! DH has been asking me for good photos of this, and now I can point him here. :) The layout of the new sidewalk isn't convenient for guest who want to go to Pioneer Hall or Trail's End- they are going to have to walk all the way out and around, or will have to cut through this new mess of sand in the golf cart parking area: Odds that some people will just walk down the cart path anyway because of this? Tri-Circle-D 2,059
Odds that some people will just walk down the cart path anyway because of this? Yup. And all the cart traffic is now going to be on that fork of the path since the other one is blocked off. It took them a year and half to come up with that genius plan.
