When we took in Charlie, Abby was about a year old. She wasn't thrilled with the new situation either. In fact, pretty darn quickly she let Charlie know that he was the interloper and she was the boss. She continued to politely ignore him until he died, despite our efforts to get them to play together. But something tells me that Buddy is going to have his hands full with Dobby. Lou... 3,118 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Report Share Posted December 31, 2013 I've been asked by a few Fiends lately how Dobby is doing?He's doing just fine. His full personality has come out, and it's a really cute one. He's very affectionate, loves people, and is so playful. Like all dogs, he want's to be loved, and works at it.He's not a yipper, is very well house trained with no accidents in 5 weeks, and hasn't chewed anything. He's been absolutely no trouble at all.He's eating well, and has adjusted to his new home very well, but Buddy still wants nothing to do with him, and is visibly jealous. But it's not all rosy. Up until it occurred, we couldn't come up with a reason as to why he hadn't found a permanent home as he had been the perfect dog.About two weeks ago, he experienced a short seizure where he was completely non responsive for a couple of minutes. He came out of it quickly with no negative effects. Is this why he ended up at the rescue shelter more than once? Did the people that took him not want to deal with it?Well, considering the enjoyment he's given us in the short time we've had him, and the fact that we've completely become attached to him, there is absolutely no way he's going back, this is his final home. And what a great home it is. I'm sitting in a recliner with him squeezed in on one side snoring away, and Buddy on the other side, but he isn't snoring. I brought Dobby to the Vets after the seizure for a general check-up and evaluation, and other than a minor skin infection, which with medication has disappeared, he is healthy. As for the seizure issue, how we proceed will depend on the frequency.We haven't observed any since, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he hasn't had any. We're assuming that's the case though. Quite scary. But certainly manageable as with people under most circumstances. Can't imagine why anyone would give up little Bobby just for that. Thanks for the heads-up Gwen.I just quickly read up on it, and from what I read, Dobby has shown none of the RMSF symptoms before or since the seizure.He's been very active, eating real well, acting, and from what we can tell, feeling, normal in every way.
