DCL Offers a Study Aboard College Course

Recommended Posts

As many of you know, the TCD twins were accepted to, and considered attending the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida.  They both ultimately decided to pursue more traditional college experiences.

Well, they have a friend who attends Rosen, and who was kind enough to send them this link: https://hospitality.ucf.edu/study-aboard/

An excerpt:

Are you looking for an elective to take next semester that will take you behind the scenes of one of the best cruise lines in the world? Study Aboard with Rosen College and Disney Cruise Line for an unforgettable classroom experience!

Learn about the various aspects of the cruise industry, including its history, operating and marketing procedures, career opportunities, ship profiles, itineraries and ports of call. Students will study by land during lectures at Rosen College and by sea during a 5-night Caribbean cruise on the Disney Wonder. They will also participate in special sessions led by Disney Cruise Line executives who will be on board to share their expertise on cruise industry-related issues and topics. This course is a Hospitality Management and Event Management elective.

They are both enjoying college so far, so this doesn't bother them too much.

But, can you imagine how much fun this would be for a college student?

You left out the part where you pay $850 plus tuition for the class. If I have to pay for a cruise, Im going to enjoy it, not work my butt off.

You're right.

What they actually got first was a link that suggested the whole spring semester would be "aboard."

The details show that it's just a regular class with a five day cruise over spring break.  And, that $850 is about rack rate, if not higher.  I know you can get a Florida resident rate for a lot less than that on a 5 night cruise.

Still, it would be a blast.
