Katman1356...Jason 1,140
So I am trying to figure out what's wrong with or how to make the heat strip in Maria work. Metaldad had told me he never got it working. Any suggestions?
ftwildernessguy 778
Go to Lowes and get a small ceramic space heater.
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
So I am trying to figure out what's wrong with or how to make the heat strip in Maria work. Metaldad had told me he never got it working. Any suggestions? Are you sure it doesn't work? I have a heat strip on my AC unit. It doesn't do a whole lot when it's really cold. It will raise the interior temps just a bit. A small space heater will heat the inside of your pop-up just fine. That makes the air warm. But, you will need to do something with the bunks, as there's just a thin piece of plywood between your mattress and the cold. A lot of pup owners use electric blankets. We don't camp much when it's cold, so I don't mess with the electric blankets. The space heater is all I use. TCD
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
I have an electric blanket, mattress pad heater, and a space heater so I should be ok. Guess I am just tinkering at this point. Figured if I could get it working it would be one more place to get heat from LOL
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
I agree with TCD. A heat strip doesn't do much. I wouldn't worry about it. Just use a space heater.

Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Inside on the cover it says Coleman TSR.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
I did try running it for a bit and could feel absolutely no difference in the air temp coming out.
Grumpy and Grandma 740
How cold is the air temp? The thermostat may not be letting it kick in. Also it has a built in safety that may have tripped and you have to remove the heat coil to reset it.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Current air temp is about 63. I will check on reseating the strip.

bord1niowa......Curt 79
In my pop ups, a small space heater can take it from that freak cold in Florida of 30 degrees at night to a balmy 70 in about 10 minutes. I wouldn't even bother with a heat strip. A heat strip is not designed to warm your camper, just take the dampness out.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Thanks Curt. I guess it's just ,e tinkering to try and get everything working. Once a repair tech always a repair tech.
BigTom 76
Probably heat strip is burnt out. Not had to replace and is not real expensive. Heat strips are not intended for continuous use and only to take chill off the camper.

I am still learning about the PUP and I like to know all that I can and fix things but It wont do the job anyway up here so I will just use the space heater.
DaveInTN 3,247
so I will just use the space heater. and alcohol. Don't forget the alcohol.

MetalDad 33
Jason, there should have been a small ceramic heater left under one of the dinette seats. That thing will get the PUP nice and toasty. Almost burned my scalp one night from having it too close to where I slept. Keep a bottle of water handy, keeps the air dry too, several cold nights I woke up thirsty from the dry air! The booze does help though, I've studied that!

Katman1356...Jason 1,140
Definitely not in there John. No big though. I have one that does pretty good. We'll give it a shot this weekend.
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
Jason, the most you could have hoped for with the heat strip is a couple of degrees. Not worth your time.
