vick .......... Vickie 0
What is the quickest, easiest way to get to Universal from the Fort?
Travisma 1,317
Are you going to be driving? Do you know the back way/roads out of the Fort.? If you do I can give you some directions.
vick .......... Vickie 0
We will be driving, but don't know the back roads. I have heard there is a better way than hitting I4, so that is why I asked. We have taken a left out of the Fort and found a WalMart once.
stacktester 78
Turn left out of the fort and go all the way til it dead ends. Take a right at the light and follow it to 535. You'll see the Ale House and a 7-11 on the left. Continue straight on that road. Not sure if it's Turkey Lake Road there but it turns into TLR at some point. Once you see US/IOA you'll see entrance signs. Keeps you off I-4.
vick .......... Vickie 0
Thanks Donnie. :) That sounds easy.
vick .......... Vickie 0
One more question. How long does usually take going that route?
h2odivers...Ray 952
Donnie forgot to mention that you'll probably need to stop at the Ale House for a drink after you leave universal. Wait get some beer at the 7-11 and bring it back t the fort. I don't want you drinking and driving.

Travisma 1,317
Stackmasters directions are correct. The road is Palm Parkway which turns into Turkey Lake. There's a whole new world out there when you turn left leaving the Fort. I would suggest you bring up Google maps and check out the roadways at WDW itself and the surrounding areas. You can save a lot of time and mileage using the back roads. Watch out for the traffic on 535 just above and below I-4 it can really back up.
h2odivers...Ray 952
Is Turkey lake road the one that runs parallel to I-4? We hired a town-car to take us from Universal to DTD and I think that's the way we went. If so it took us about 30 minutes and that was with traffic. Tip of the day. It is cheaper to hire a town-car than a taxi during heavy traffic times. Taxis charge by the mile and time in the cab. Town-cars charge a flat rate.
Travisma 1,317
Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake runs alongside of the West side of I-4. International is on the East. There's a Wal Mart and a K Mart on Palm for your shopping pleasure.

iluv2cook 1
I agree--thank you Stacktester and Travisma. This is great info. One more question actually 2 answered. I was also wondering where the closet Wal-Mart was.--thank you.
Travisma 1,317
There is another one on 535 below International Drive. It may be a little closer, but if you get tied up in traffic it'll be a long trip.
