DaveInTN 3,247
Is there anything that Sears has not tried to get involved in?
alexwyattmommy 181
Nope. They used to sell dentures too.
ftwildernessguy 778
Craftsman tools are now made in China.
Beckers 1,136
I didn't even know they were still around.
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
Are Craftsman tools still guaranteed for life? Many years ago when our son #1 was little they offered a guarantee against wear-through on the knees of jeans. After I took back the third pair they said they would no longer guarantee him. So much for the warranty.
Thrill Shakespeare (Andy) 58
Last I heard, the Craftsman tools were still guaranteed for life. My father has regularly found old Craftsman tools by the side of the road or dumped somewhere that he would then immediately take to Sears to exchange for new tools. DaveInTN 3,247
The Sears in our local mall is closing. Although I think it was the mall's decision. they wouldn't renew Sears' lease.
Beckers 1,136
I remember going go Sears with my mom when I was little for package pick up. We always thought that was fun.
ImDownWithDisney 342
Sears failed to change with times. Companies like Amazon filled the void.
ImDownWithDisney 342
And most of their tools are now junk. Only certain ones have a lifetime warranty.
Nicki aka Rebelstand 272
They also sold housing kits at one time
ftwildernessguy 778
You used to be able to buy almost anything from sears. They had houses, boats, motor scooters, all kinds of crap. A trip to Sears was an event when I was a kid. I remember when Pong first came out and Sears had one on display. Kids were lined up for blocks just to get 5 minutes of play time. We used to fight over the Christmas catalogue.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
The K-Marts around these parts all switched over to some version of Sears after they merged, and within the next several years they all went out of business. There's still a Sears anchor at our local mall, but it's definitely not the Sears of my youth.
ftwildernessguy 778
I honestly can't see how our Sears stays in business. Whenever I go in there, the staff outnumbers the customers by at least 6 to 1. I seldom see anyone buy anything.
DaveInTN 3,247
The only reason we've gone into our Sears at all the past 6 or 7 years is when INC orders something online from Lands End and it needs to be returned.
Retired & Tired (Judy) 90
I did check out the prices for a hotel for my daughter's family and found one really cheap. I may go ahead and reserve it for them. Can always cancel if they end up not being able to go.
