WBI’s DisneyWorld Babymoon

WBI’s DisneyWorld Babymoon at the Poly!

Hey everyone!

I’m back with another trip report.

A lot has happened since my last report.

I’ve told you about some of it but as I’m sure you guessed from the name of this trip report we are having a baby!

That’s right we’re having our first baby and it’s a boy!

We’re very excited, the camping princess is 20 weeks along!

In addition to the baby, over the last year we’ve moved from Florida to Louisiana, started new jobs, and bought a house.

Before we moved we were able to take two DisneyWorld trips, one in May 2012 and one in June 2012 when our Annual Passes expired. Those last two trips in 2012 were great, we squeezed every bit of magic we could into those 4 day trips, but we were also a little sad thinking they would be our last trip to Disney for a long time.

Well fast forward to the spring of 2013 and we are pregnant, living in Louisiana and trying to figure out where to take our last trip before the baby comes.

Hey it’s pretty good to be WBI!

So where to go? We know we wanted to go in the summer while the CP is off for the summer, and I would have more time off for the Fourth. We’ve been to Disney a ton, we know how awesome it is and everything else about it. How about the mountains in the summer, altitude and hiking could be risky for CP, a cruise would be great but there weren’t any good ones for our specific dates. How about Seaside, the place we got married, that would be great but we wanted more to do than just go to the beach. Sooo where could go that has lots of shows, entertainment, amazing fireworks, a great resort, good food and a nice pool for lounging.

Yeah we decided on DisneyWorld too!

Since this was our first time traveling to DisneyWorld from out of state we had to plan quite a bit more than normal.

We were able to book flights using my frequent flyer miles, can’t beat that!

We went back and forth about where to stay, we’ve stayed at almost all the Disney Hotels but one we’ve always wanted to stay at was the Polynesian. What better time to stay at a bucket list resort right? We booked our room and added on the Magic Express.

Ok sorry this is turning into a long write up, that’s enough about planning, let’s get to the resort.

Here we go the first picture:

That’s CP and I on our second leg of our journey, Houston to Orlando.

Can I brag that when I checked us in 24hrs early they were offering first class upgrades for a very small fee? Oh yeah!! Upgrade on a practically free flight I’ll do that all day long! We enjoyed the extra room and free food, it actually was pretty good, but we couldn’t fill up because we had Ohana reservations that night!

We arrived in Orlando 10 minutes early around 7:30pm, our reservations were at 915pm.
.
We made our way down to Magic Express with no problems. There was no line at all.

While waiting to board we went to take a picture and CP realized she forgot the camera on the plane.

I assumed it was lost forever but CP ran to the security desk upstairs, they called the plane, United was going to bring it to Magic Express and they were going to deliver it to the Poly.

Of course while she was doing this I was not happy standing waiting by myself watching other families board various buses, but eventually CP arrived and I calmed down. We boarded the bus and as we were waiting for another family to board a lady from United ran out to our bus with the camera.

We were shocked!

I couldn’t’ believe United had moved that quickly.

Huge shout out and thank you to United!

Ok here we go:

My review of Magic Express?

We loved it the service was great and staying at the Poly we were the first to get off the bus and the last to board at the end of the trip.

We really loved the service.

Even the bag service was great, not having to touch your bags at all can’t be beat.

Arriving at the Poly we were greeted and escorted in.

Check-in was no problem, and we got the room we requested.

Tokelau

Here’s our room, it was newly remodeled, on the first floor and had tons of room.

After checking out our room we hustled out to the beach to watch Lou’s favorite the EWP.

It was now 9pm perfect timing!

After the EWP we went upstairs and checked in for Ohana. (I’m protesting apostrophes)

Our reservation was at 9:15pm, we got our pager and I barely had time to take these pictures before we were paged:

I think all the appostrophes are right now aren’t they?

You know how you always read about people getting a table next to the window with a great view?

We we never get that.

A year ago we had this table right next to a door where all the drinks come out with no view and tons of traffic.

Guess where we were headed this time? Yup same table.

But we spotted one by the window, our host was new there so when we asked about the other table he said sure but he was a little nervous about switching us but we didn’t mind!

Here are at our table!

Our table didn’t have a great view of the castle or anything but it did have a nice view of a tree and wasn’t right in the way of all the traffic.

Notice how little bread we ate:

Here’s my serving of salad, I was holding out for the good stuff.

Sorry after that I got distracted by all the food.

I will say it was delicious and I ate enough shrimp to hurt a normal person.

The service was a little slow as normal.

And it was just as expensive as always.

After dinner we walked around the resort we loved the location of our room, the first floor was great and our building was central to everything, even the TTC.

After looking around a little we headed to the room to rest up.

Tomorrow we are doing rope drop at Magic Kingdom.

There will be a lot more pictures as I get this report going.

We even made a trip to the Fort and had a TLR (that’s The Lone Rider at Trails End).

I’ll try to post as often as possible but I might be a little slow.

I agree.  You and CP look nothing like Sand People.     Congrats on the new career opportunity! I wish you all the best!

Congrats on your new son. Enjoying your report

First to read!

Congratulations! What awesome news.

Good job on the apostrophe photos.

Looking forward to the rest!

TCD I don't think I have ever seen you post this late at night ever. Are you ok?

Congratulations! I have an 11 month old boy. Time flies once they get here. Last year at this time I was miserable and now my sweet baby is 1 month away from being a year old. He is climbing everything and into everything all day long. :)

We got a seat near the window at Ohanas but we were there for character breakfast. My big kids love Lilo and Stitch so I don't even remember looking out it. We were too focused on characters.

It was good to be WBI before and even better now, congratulations Nick.

Did you really have to include photos of that poor excuse for entertainment?

We missed you at 'Ohana by one day. We were there the night after you arrived.

BTW, as engineers, we like to be precise. There are no apostrophes in 'Ohana. It does have an okina though, which looks like an inverted, backwards, apostrophe.

I'm fine, thanks for asking.  I was waiting up for Twin #1 to get home, and with the All Star Game break, there was nothing to watch on TV.  So, I was browsing FF.net.  I had to break policy so I could get on page one.

As long as I'm posting, here's an apostrophe (or okina) comparison for those interested:

If this doesn't prove that Disney has moles reading FF.net, I don't know what else would.

BTW- Nick- did you actually get the two dipping sauces they listed- peanut and sweet and sour?  When we last went, they were only passing out the peanut sauce, and people were ticked about that.  I personally don't care- as I think the meat is seasoned fine, but the 'Ohana groupies were outraged.

Don't know about Nick, but I was there the night after he was and they did serve both.
