BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
Inside the Magic has posted the article below about a major overhaul to the Jungle Cruise attraction at Tokyo Disneyland. It actually sounds pretty cool and I wonder if a similar update will make it's way West if it's a hit? The classic Jungle Cruise experience is being enhanced at Tokyo Disneyland, announced today by the Oriental Land Co., reopening in fall 2014 with new effects, a musical score, and a special nighttime version of the popular attraction. The Jungle Cruise, which has been popular since Tokyo Disneyland Park opened in 1983, takes guests on an adventurous cruise through the jungles with a humorous skipper at the helm. The revamped version of the attraction will have new lighting effects and other special show effects. In addition, a specially written musical soundtrack will be heard throughout the attraction for the first time in any Jungle Cruise ride worldwide. An after-dark only “night cruise” will provide a unique take on the jungle adventure.New to the attraction will be a startling encounter with one of the “animal spirit guardians” in the ruins of a lost jungle temple. Jungle Cruise will close at Tokyo Disneyland beginning January 6, 2014, reopening in Fall 2014. The estimated cost for the update is around 1.6 billion yen, or $16 million USD. http://www.insidethemagic.net/2013/07/jungle-cruise-to-receive-modern-update-with-new-effects-music-and-special-night-adventure-at-tokyo-disneyland/
Lou... 3,118
I wonder if a similar update will make it's way West if it's a hit? JC at WDW will be going through a 5 week refurb beginning in Aug, so I doubt that much will change. It sounds like a routine maintenance shut down. If they're going to carry over the Tokyo upgrades, they'll have to shutdown JC for a much longer time. It's way, way, overdue for changes.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
It's way, way, overdue for changes. Ain't that the truth! Sounds like a major overhaul in Tokyo - in both time and money. Would be nice if it's hugely successful and they decide it's worth giving the MK version a huge facelift too. DaveInTN 3,247
Fill in the water and build something cool. Imagine the space they'd have if they bulldozed the treehouse and the JC...they could do a ride based on an abandoned Asian temple to fit the Adventureland theme, and make it a thrilling dark ride. As it is, I don't spend much time in that part of the park except to ride Pirates and sometimes the Dumbo Carpets. Not to mention a DW float.
BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
.. Imagine the space they'd have if they bulldozed the treehouse and the JC... Better idea. Make the treehouse fully functional and let me live in it. I will also require a zip line to Aloha Isle mouseketab.....Carol
