Loaded gun found on Dinosaur

Recommended Posts

A Walt Disney World park guest found a loaded gun in the seat of a ride at the Animal Kingdom that had fallen out of a man's back pocket on Sunday.

A grandmother handed a Cobra .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol about noon to a park attendant, who immediately contacted security and the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

A young boy said, "My grandma found it in her seat," the report stated.

The owner, Angelo Lista, 44, of Royal Palm Beach claimed the firearm — which had five hollow point bullets inside — fell out of his back pocket during the bumpy Dinosaur ride, according to a Sheriff's Office incident report.

Deputies unloaded and confiscated the weapon.

Lista has a valid Florida concealed weapons permit and told authorities he did not know he was supposed to tell Disney security because there are no signs posted about firearms.

According to the report, Lista thought the security bag checks were for explosives not guns. He said he was not aware guests were not allowed to bring guns inside the parks.

However, Disney spokeswoman Kathleen Prihoda said their policy clearly states no guns or weapons of any kind are permitted on their property. The prohibition is posted on their website.

A Disney official said they cannot recall any other similar incidents with guns in recent years, calling the episode "rare" because its common knowledge the parks don't permit them.

Deputies said Lista was apologetic and tried to retrieve the gun the moment he realized it was no longer in his possession after the ride.

Disney asked Lista to leave for the day but did not trespass him.

Lista complied and deputies escorted him to his vehicle, the report said.

This genius is down in a ditch looking up at stupid.

If it wasn't for me carrying, Little Red would have been taken away by those poachers.

In this case the screw up put a loaded weapon within reach of a child in a crowded theme park.   That falls under "idiot" in my book.

I like Dinosaur. I do not like guns on Dinosaur.

I predict there will now be many signs at the front of the park about weapons as well as pat downs.

OK, maybe not pat downs, but at our local Carowinds in Charlotte you do have to go through a metal detector. It's a complete nightmare.

Come on, people! What is wrong with you? You are going back in time to retrieve a Dinosaur during a meteor shower! Unarmed? I don't think so! I personally have been nearly eaten by some huge carnivore, not to mention dive bombed by a pterodactyl!

I double posted on purpose to make my point. The guy should have been commended for possibly saving the lives of everyone on that vehicle.

I carry some of the time but There is no reason to carry at a theme park. Along with more training I think an IQ test should be given before  ccw license   can be obtained

Come on now. Give the guy a break. He was carrying a weapon. Big deal. Even though disneys policy is no weapons in the parks. I

Personally am not worried about a law abiding US citizen carrying a weapon. Anywhere!

If that same guy would have stopped a crazy person bent on killing a lot of people at Disney everyone of us would be calling him a heroe. Yes he shouldn't of had it in the parks but I think he handled it well after he knew he screwed up.

But you should know your gun is missing. Just sayin. If you can't keep up with it, you shouldn't carry.

I can actually buy that he didn't know guns weren't allowed in the parks.  He's right, there are no signs entering the parks that say this (bet there will be now!), he was legally carrying and I'd be willing to bet a fraction of 1% of people read the official WDW "policies" on their website.

Still...

Loaded gun + back pocket + really rough theme park ride = DumbDumbDumbDumbDumb

He may be a law abiding citizen, but he's also a law abiding idiot.

I agree with the previous posters about law abiding citizens carrying weapons but a truly responsible gun owner would have his weapon properly holstered and secured. Also I'm all for being in a position to protect yourself , your family and any other innocent person who may need help but honestly Disney is safer than I feel in my home and I know they are out to get me :)
