  1. Very similar. Grew up in NJ and live in Central Florida. I don't know if the greenhead bites itch like the yellow fly bites, but both hurt about the same.
  2. Saw you over at property control with your daughters during your trip. I was going to walk over and say hello, but you were enjoying your "browsing time" time with your daughters (over near the Star Wars and Disneyland 60th stuff) and my wife was finishing up and we had to get going. Maybe next time!
  3. My daughter had her wedding rehearsal dinner there two years ago. The food was very good, but the restaurant was looking very worn. Glad to see the renovation. That is where my wife and I had our "splurge" dinner on our honeymoon back in 1984. At the time, it was Empress Lilly.
  4. When in May? We'll be there May 5th to 9th, and always stay in the 200 loop.
  5. Thanks. I was tempted to pull in and take a picture. It was kind of sad seeing them just sitting there, but I am certainly not against more camp sites.
  6. Sorry about that; Vertical/Short Take Off Landing. It is the short airstrip that is now used mainly for construction worker parking. It's on the right as you near the entrance to Wilderness Lodge.
  7. The removed cabins are now parked in the VSTOL lot (as of around noon, 23 April.
  8. Really, all of the outside sites aren't bad at all (except 236). Some of the inside sites may be tight to get into, depending on your camper. We have a 24 ft travel trailer, so we've been in some of the more difficult inside sites (to back into). Once in, they are nice.
  9. All good sites. The one I would definitely try to avoid is 236. That is right next to the basketball court. 201 is next to the comfort station, so that may be a help, or not. :)
  10. We ate there in November after a time of not eating there. We had a terrific meal; much better than I remember. I just wish they would have breakfast again. The breakfast calzone of years ago was amazing.
  11. Agree 100%. however, I feel (hope) that they are reaching that point. If Disney reaching that point coincides with a change of positions in upper level management, it may not reflect well on those who take over. At least that is my hope. :)
  12. I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully, this type of thinking won't make it's way to the top position. If it does, I feel it will be short lived as the impacts will start to take a toll.
  13. This is a great change. I was at Wide World of Sports to get my packet for the 5K and the stuff people were hoarding was amazing. Someone told me that during the Princess marathon there were actually shoving matches that resulted in shelves of merchandise being knocked over. All to sell on EBay. Amazing.
  14. With all of the changes coming to Studios, my wife and I decided to get a lunch in at Mama Melrose's while we still could. So, Friday, we headed over and checked in around 11:40, although we had 12:05 reservations. We were quickly seated in a nice booth, and we each had flat breads. I had the rosemary chicken flatbread and my wife had the Carne d'Italia flatbread. Both were outstanding. The server was outstanding as well. I told my wife, the entire meal reminded me of the "old Disney", great food, and atmosphere that did not make you feel like you were getting ripped off. It was one of
  15. We usually really enjoy eating there. The last time was probably just an off visit.
  16. How did you like the meal? It's been a while since we've eaten there because the last meal was only average, and it was expensive. Haven't had the chance to get back. Glad you got a window seat though. :)
  17. Happy anniversary! My daughter and son in law ate there last night for their second anniversary.
  18. Live nearby but also have stayed at the park in September. Overall a great time to come. Any time from June though November can be hit or miss for hurricanes, but the peak is September 10th. However, even then, the odds of a storm coming when you are there will be low. In the past, Fort Wilderness has been evacuated if there is a storm approaching. If I recall correctly, they provide shelter on a space available basis at other resorts, and I believe you can check back into the Fort when cleared if you have days remaining. Of course you can always check out early and get a refund for the
  19. We always ask to wait for a table by the glass. We always get it without a long wait. Should be fine with just two of you. Larger parties would have an issue.
  20. It has happened before. A few years ago, someone (I believe a cast member) jumped from the top onto the monorail track (outside). There wasn't a lot of coverage back then either, although more than this.
  21. If there were that many empty spots, then it was really empty. I can only assume the weather was the reason. That's a shame for you since you could have had a nice uncrowded walk if the weather held off. :)
