Help! Supposed to arrive Friday!
djsamuel replied to richncolleen's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
As far as the Fort goes, I'm hearing a possible delay in opening until later this week; but not clear. Gas supply is pretty much back to normal around Disney. Prices are dropping and all of the stations along 192 and in Disney have gas. -
New AbracadaBar at Disney's Boardwalk

We had a couple of drinks there a month or two ago. We enjoyed it, but definitely not cheap. The mirror near the bathrooms is interesting for sure. -
Pancreas, liver, gastritis...
djsamuel replied to twiceblessed....nacole's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Does the stomach pain decrease when he eats? Your husband's symptoms sound eerily similar to a situation I had. I had frequent stomach pain that culminated in a hospital stay about 3 years ago (I was 54 at the time). Prior to that, my pain was initially diagnosed as gastritis and I was told to take Prevacid, which did help a lot. Then in March 2014 I was in church and suddenly got very sweaty and cold, and felt like I had the flu. My daughter wanted to take me to the hospital, but I went home since my wife was home not feeling well; I figured I caught what she had. that night I passed ou -
New Christmas Offering at DHS
djsamuel replied to Tri-Circle-D's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
The food booths will continue. In preparation for Food and Wine this year, Disney built two very large permanent production kitchens; one behind Germany and the other behind Norway. These replace the trailers that were brought in for each event featuring food. -
Finally able to check in now that I am at work. The eye shifted east and went up through Clermont/West Orange County where I live. We got hit with about 100MPH winds and are very fortunate. No damage to the house and only some branches and a ton of debris. I lot of water around. We have no power or phone and very limited cell service. They are anticipating 7 to 10 days for power with hopes that it will be sooner. Down the road from me a very large oak fell through a home, essentially splitting it in half. Been through several hurricanes over the years but nothing as loud as this one.

Doing fine in Clermont so far. Fairly light winds and rain, should be changing in a couple of hours. Forecast for our area is for sustained winds of 65 and gusts to 80. Worst will be from around 11PM to 1AM tonight.

Not sure about pets, but in the past cast members working during a storm and staying at the resort were allowed to bring their family.

The schools were closed to start preparing them as shelters. In Lake County they had to close them to begin preparing them as shelters; not only for Lake County residents but for people coming up from the south. I don't think they are too concerned about daycare.

Food and Wine 2017
djsamuel replied to Travisma's topic in Pictures of Dishes (Food) from around the World
We were there Sunday morning and left around 2:00. It was getting packed around the World Showcase by then. How crowded did it get? -
Your offer is amazingly generous. We're planning on parking our camper along the side my house (but far enough away it doesn't hit the house should things get really bad), hooked to the truck and with the stabilizers down and each solidly planted on a 4x4. Clermont is pretty much in the middle of the state, and I'm expecting something along the lines of Charlie in 2004. Gas stations here were bizarre this afternoon coming home from work, with long lines, no gas and even a three car accident in the middle of one RaceTrak station. People are nuts. I drove past the Celebration Publix thi

My daughter had one of these on Saturday. She said it was delicious. -
Those pictures are great.

Sounds like the stories my grandfather would tell; although his Model A travels were through Pennsylvania. He always loved to talk about how we had it so easy because we didn't have to repair flat tires every 30 miles or so!

It is on the main road and basically runs the length of the 600 loop. The entrance to the 600 loop is on one side of the detour and the exit is on the other side.

A couple of Fort observations
djsamuel replied to djsamuel's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Walked through last night. There was one camper in the 600 loop and I couldn't see any in 800 and 900. There may have been some, but they couldn't be seen from the road. https://imgur.com/a/j7ZQt -

It still is working well. This is Friday afternoon and the loop is pretty full now. WiFi speed is still good. -
I don't know when this started, but our nephew and his family had breakfast at the Crystal Palace yesterday. The were handed something called a honeypot which I think contained all of the signatures printed on it (it was paper). They were told that the characters no longer sign autographs in the restaurant, which was the case. They still enjoyed the meal, but were surprised at the change. They were told people had to wait too long to see the characters because so much time was being spent signing the books while the characters circulated around the restaurant.

Someone just posted on Facebook that they are one of 2 campers in the 800 loop. -

Not sure of that. Traffic can get in there and I saw some driving down coming from the Outpost. I saw others coming down Big Pine Trail and then making a left up Fort Wilderness Trail for those loops at the Settlement end. Not sure about 800 and 900 though. -

The 100/200 loops are pretty dead. I would say that as of this morning it was about 50% or so between the 100 and 200 loops. Haven't had a chance to look around elsewhere. A few checked in yesterday but it is nice and quiet. Location can make a big difference in the wifi. the only reason I even mention it is because we are in the same site as last time, and inside my camper, I had a very poor signal before, while now it is very strong, again at the same site. -
This doesn't qualify as a trip report, so I'm just putting it here. Checked into Fort Wilderness yesterday, although I'm at work today while my wife spends time with her sister and nephew as well as his family. Noticed a couple of things that I figured would be worth noting. We arrived a little earlier than planned, around 11:00. There was a little bit of a wait since only one lane was open. There was a camper checking in, a car and then us. Fortunately, the car decided to turn around and drive the wrong way out, I presume to do the walk in check in. The camper in front finished and we

Saw the Pecos Bill challenge yesterday at Magic Kingdom. Fun to see and looked like a lot of fun for the people getting it.
