  1. Oh, the things themselves are not disgusting, but non-runners are often a bit put-off by some of the things runners often do to prep for a marathon. I'll definitely go into that -- it will be both instructive and disquieting. Much like my life. As far as the Moon Pie, I saved it for after the race. Little did I know that they would give me another one after the race was over. Bonus!
  2. Hmmm...let's see. Soy bacon, soy sausage, cashew cheese. Not sure what to do about replacing the eggs. Sounds abysmal, but then again I am most definitely a carnivore.
  3. Okay, my solution was not THAT creative. Besides, trees were hard to come by in my site. It was more of a rock quarry than a forest. But more on that later...
  4. Thank you all for joining this madness. I wasn't sure if I would have any passengers for the journey -- the company is appreciated. The first challenge for me was getting to Fort Oglethorpe in the first place. Macon, where I live, is about 185 miles away. On the positive side, it's a direct shot straight up I-75 with only about 7 miles to go after the exit. The down side? I-75 goes directly through Atlanta. Ah, the ATL. How I love it. Some days I just bask in the thoughts of the lovely hours I have spent sitting in the middle of a major interstate parking lot enjoying the scenery. Go
  5. Yes, this has officially been added to my to-do list. Maybe right after a marathon when I have a few thousand calories to spare. It looks absolutely amazing!
  6. That is insane. That much cholesterol in one place should be illegal. I'll take two please! :jumpforjoy
  7. Hello All! This will be a short and sweet trip report. I spent part of this weekend traveling to Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, for the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon. This is my favorite marathon -- I've run it 3 times before -- but I have not been able to run it for 4 years. This is part of my preparations for yet another Disney Marathon (and Half Marathon -- I'm going for another Goofy medal). Now, I have a problem with getting a hotel for my marathon trips. I hate spending a lot of money for a room that I will only see for a few hours before the race. That's a waste of hard-earned mon
  8. "No coke for you" would be a play on "no soup for you" from Seinfeld. Those were some crazy crowds. Enjoying the report!
  9. Coming soon: Deck the Hall of Presidents: A Christmas sing-a-long with all of your favorite American leaders. Enjoy the moving "All I Want for Christmas is My Wooden Teeth" sung by George Washington and William Howard Taft's jolly portrayal of Santa Claus in "Santa Claus is Coming to Congress." Big Candy Mountain Railroad: Ride along with Santa as you rush to get the sweets from the elves in the candy mines to all the good little boys and girls across the world. Sponsored by the American Dental Association. And as a special treat, the queue of Toy Story Mania will be re-themed to simula
  10. We watched and enjoyed it. It certainly can't compare to the films, but it actually had more plot than I expected. It doesn't break any new ground, but it was a nice visit with old friends.
  11. We're going to be at AoA in a month or so. I have enjoyed my visits to that resort but have never stayed before. Great variety of food in the food court, but no bargains (although the Middle Eastern cuisine did not seem too bad for the amounts you received.) Looking forward to hearing about your experiences!
  12. Thanks again to everyone for the encouragement! Thanks, Judy! I'm not sure any of my artwork should ever be mentioned in the same sentence with the Festival of the Masters, but I'm pleased nevertheless. :jumpforjoy Maybe I should make a Snarky painting for a later raffle...
  13. Thanks, everyone! I'm so glad you like it! About 4 hours or so. The ink step is really nerve wracking since one wrong move means I have to start over. Doing the entire drawing with one line makes it a real challenge. If you trace the line around you'll find that I do part of one area, go to another part of the drawing, and eventually make my way back. If you're not careful you find that you've trapped yourself in a corner. Makes for a little drama as you draw! I'm already planning the next one. I think this one will feature Belle.
  14. And here's a smaller version in case that one is too big to see easily...
  15. Hello All! Over the last few years, I have developed a style of pen & ink/watercolor artwork that I really enjoy. The centerpiece of each picture is an almost maze-like image (inspired originally by Aztec designs) drawn with only one unbroken line. This design is later accented with watercolor. DramaMama and I have discussed me creating a very large piece for our Disney-inspired master bedroom that would consist of many canvases of varying sizes depicting the various parks and resorts of Walt Disney World. I decided to work on several smaller pieces first to shake off the rust -- it
  16. I too have taken a dip in Indian Springs. Good times. Sigh.
  17. When you rent a camper from them they theme it in your choice of styles. This includes the decorations outside, bedspreads, interior decorations, etc. It's quite cool. The gravestone looks like one of the things from their Haunted Mansion theme. We're actually renting from them in January. Our theme? Mickey and Friends!
  18. Indeed. It's the floorin' from Soarin'. I know you already knew that, but the rhyme was too good to waste.
  19. If that's what it was like to you, it wasn't prepared correctly. Cooked by a master, escargot is very tender. The texture thing I understand, but it doesn't bother me in the least.
