  1. We are coming down in early August and trying to plan park days to coincide with extra evening magic hours. Come to find out Disney altered summer hours, in past years fireworks were at 10pm, and there was always a extra evening hours from midnight to 2am or 11:00 to 1am, all gone, latest is 9:30_11:00. I heard they are closing a bit earlier so they can offer ticketed events later. Anyone heard anything regarding these issues. Frank
  2. We have camped many times with toddlers and I offer this, at Walt Disney World we pick 3 rides in the AM, hit those then back for a swim/nap, then off to another park that evening, hopper, and set out sights on 2_3 rides/activities. Kids are not burned out and change of parks adds excitement and gives them something to look forward to. With us the key was less is best. All too often we see screaming kids and angry parents, just pure misery usually caused by trying to do everything in one day, plus 100° and 97% humidity doesn't help. The parks are large and getting larger.every year, so if
  3. That's a good point about exhaust gas...on our trailer the refrigerator would be the only contributing appliance. It seems the consensus is if you.are.staying longer than 4 days and do not find the set-up too difficult and have extra.storage room (which we do, trailer and boxes on truck) they are a nice addition. We camp at beach often and the marsh flies kill us some years. Other years none. Up north here , those skeeters come out and can infest trailer just.by opening door a few.times. not like I want to waste $600_700 , but if I don't try one I'll never know. Guess I'll order one this
  4. As per manufacturer, awnings are compatible with newer truss type electric awnings. I did watch videos regarding set-up, kinda looking for some real life experiences....manufacturer sets up these under ideal conditions, they make it look so smooth. Life tends to not be a smooth.
  5. Wondering what some experiences have been regarding a screen room with walls. My awning is 18' and I was looking at the type of room with solid walls and a few windows. Pros? Cons? Set-up? Are they worth it or will a good gust crush the whole thing? Ironically I did have one but.upgraded camper to larger awning size before I had a chance to use it. Frank
  6. Thanks for the information. We were there Christmas 2015 & no discount, just figured it was due.to holiday pricing. No AAA for us then.
  7. We have used AAA 10% discount in the past for campsites, just wondering if anything has changed recently. Prior discount was applied during a "value season" stay. If discount is.still available, AAA MEMBERSHIP pays.for.itself...any info appreciated Frank
  8. as for setting up wd, easy, 1attach trailer, 2 use lounge jack to lift trailer to point where spring bars are lose 3 crank bars up to say 8" (just a random number, crank them a little and measure spring bar to top frame and use that as starting pt) 4 lower jack completely 5 measure distance from top wheel well to ground for front and back tires 6 measurement should within 1/2" 7 repeat steps and readjust if rear is still low crank the bars some if rear is high let off on the bars use a sharpie and mark the vertical bar or mark the crank tube so next time no guessing required when hitchin
  9. I too own a propride p3, awesome hitch, and experience "the bounce" from time to time. It is dependent upon the road surface. However I have been able to lessen the effect by backing off on my wd bars. I experimented a bit and found I was cranking them too much. The nice thing about a the p3 is that the wd spring bars are adjustable, use your tounge jack to make adjusting much easier, just a simple turn of a wrench. I tow a grey wolf 26 dbh , tip to tail just under 32', with a ram 1500. Ram could use some more suspension but air bags fixed that. frank
  10. Having done some projects in the past to discover that I could have saved tons of time, and mental stress, if I just bought a nice fully functional item at a cost of say 500-1000 dollars more (after I put funds into completed project). If the satisfaction factor Is what you want then go for it, but otherwise I would play out the numbers. I think you could find a 14yr hybrid in really nice condition for 3500-4500, just sayin his ad states he has all the parts, but he lost interest, I think if he lost interest in entire project then why would one expect the parts to be in useable condition als
  11. We had a very similar experience in the spring. We want to go down before thanksgiving and 6-7 months in advance we tried to book a reservation and the only thing they had avail was 4 days mid week, so we took them. We called in march or April and everything was booked, go figure.
  12. Hi all, just wanted to pass this on. I have a 2014 greywolf travel trailer. Inside this trailer resides a smelly bathroom, really smelly. I followed standard tank flushing protocols and still an awful smell. Now mind you I have a sewer hook-up in my driveway so when I flush a tank it is flushed several times and chlorinated, not rushed for time in my own driveway. That said, the odor is always there and was really making a convenient trip to the bathroom a nasty hold your nose event. Well it turns out there is somewhat of a silent recall on these toilets. As per the manufacturer they us
  13. We have made this trip several times from Scranton , pa area and have found 81, 64, 17 95 a nice route. However last trip there was a lot of construction where 17 joins up with 95 at Fredericksburg, va. We always hit some congestion at 17/95 and at Richmond, after that it is easy sailing. Have done the 81 77 26 95 route and found the other ride easier, but that may just be me, and no it was not the steep grades coming off the mountains onto the coastal flats. Newer trucks will hold a gear and we just coasted down at 55-60 barely touching brakes, just did not like this route. Day one w
  14. it sounds like everyone covered the Disney stuff pretty good but I can offer some tips for driving down from NE PA . I take 81 down to 95 and stop at Carolina crossroads rv park in Roanoke rapids nc for day one, day two savannah Koa, day three we arrive at fort wilderness between 10-11 am......i do this because I travel with three small children and have found 6-7 hours is well within their comfort levels and on the third day it is a 5.5 hour ride... easy. no melt downs and I am not worthless for a day due to 13 hours behind the wheel. we only miss one Disney morning which is well worth the
  15. I have not owned either units but I did look at them all prior to making my past purchases. I did like the Jayco but the coachman was several thousand less, construction seemed to be on par as long as the compared trailers are in the same build level (ie. wood framed vs wood framed). For me, the warranty was not that big of an issue, as it turns out for minor issues it would cost me more money to haul the rv in for repair vs fixing it on the driveway. I am on my second travel trailer in 5 years , I went from a skyline nomad Joey to a forest river greywolf and both trailers have had some mino
  16. just keep in mind that a nose heavy trailer will handle better than a tail heavy one. just think of the axels as a fulcrum (see-saw) , a couple hundred pounds a foot or two in front of or behind the axels will translate into only a minor gain/loss to tongue weights but increase distance and the affect increases. hitches usually have two ratings, one w/o WD and one with. WD usually increases tongue weight by 50-60%. not knowing your exact vehicle but reading someone said armada, aftermarket hitches class 3 are listed as 600/6000 w/o WD and 1000/10000 with WD

  18. I have those air bags on my truck, best 90 bucks spent. I run them at 35psi all the time. They work great
  19. There is another thing to keep in mind while towing. If your trailer is equal too or slightly heavier than the TV you will experience more drifting, nothing terrible just need to be aware of it. The difference between the drift I am speaking of and sway would be .....driving along at 65 and semi tractor passes you at 72-75.......friction sway: I used to check mirrors , let off gas a little, move over a bit and wait for the burst of energy to start a little sway, feather gas a bit, wait for hitch to damper sway , then resume speed. protrude p3: look out my driver window...... oh there is

  21. Tom, I had a Reese 4pt friction sway/wd hitch before my p3, it worked very good for my old trailer but the new one was 2000# heavier and 5-6ft longer. I oversized the Reese (8000#) for use on a lighter trailer and it worked well. I can say with confidence that the new trailer, although within the operational limits of the Reese, would have been too much for that hitch. It would have worked 80-90% of the time but that 10-20% would have been white knuckles experiences. ProPride eliminates sway by creating a rigid connection between your trailer and tow vehicle. With this setup, only the tow
  22. I have had two different trailers with varying axel spacing and have not noticed any difference, however with a tow vehicle wheel base of 123" towing may get a little touchy here and there depending on road conditions. I tow with a newer ram 1500 and my current trailer is 32' tip to tail at 6600# empty. My truck has a wheelbase of 139" or 133" can't remember but my old trailer was 27' tip to tail and I was concerned the longer trailer would start to wag the dog a little (and as for the tow police I had it balanced wd and friction sway installed) and I invested in a propride p3 hitch. thin
  23. I expect congestion at Richmond and always get it. I tried a bunch of other routes including those mentioned and I found the 17s route the best for me. I few years back I did take 26 into 95 by Charleston and must have hit every sizable town at the perfect rush hour am and pm, probably my impeccable timing. My friend who drives for a living also recommended the 81,77,26, 95 route, but I seemed to be fighting traffic all day that way. Thanks for the reply and if your hear anything please keep me informed.
  24. Leaving from northeastern PA in about two weeks for the fort. My route will be 81 south, 66 east, 17 south to Fredericksburg, va, where I pick-up 95 south. Wondering if any members have made the same route or parts of the route and what construction and/or delays you ran into? Thanks Frank
