We've are scheduled to check in Sunday - friends of ours who were scheduled to get there Sat got the email to call and rescheduled - so far we've not been informed of anything and are prepping to leave in the morning (stopping in Valdosta, GA tomorrow and coming down 75). If we don't hear anything today, we may call tonight just to make sure, but hoping they are just being cautious till it's over later today....

Best Premium Loop for Satellite & Pets?
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to reubenray's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
If you like to be in the thick of the action - 500 loop is great and your motorhome would be fine there. Since you have a cart, you don't need to worry about being close to a bus stop, etc. Have you downloaded the FortFiends app for your phone? Able to see the length and a picture of the site as well as back in difficulty. I'm sure there are some folks that use satellite who will be along shortly. -

Best Premium Loop for Satellite & Pets?
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to reubenray's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
Welcome Reubenray! I'm afraid I can't answer the question about Satellite, but I'm sure another Fiend will be along shortly to give you some info. In the meantime, can you tell us a few things that may help? -Size of your rig (some loops are tighter and sites deeper than others) - How close you want to be to the trading post, the dog park, etc. Some folks here like to be in the heart of the action and others like to be farther away in more quiet loops. We've stayed in the 500 loop a few times and it's right across from the dog park and not far from the Marina. But when we went -
Are the playgrounds dangerous?
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to 4as - Amy's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Wonder if this is just further reaction to the whole alligator fence updates or if someone has ridden a bike or golf cart near a kid on a playground. I really hope it's not a "You can't watch your kid, so here's a cage" reaction.. -
If Disney would step in and say, choose several outside groups (Boys and Girls club, etc) to sponsor a SET amount of outside trick or treaters who might not get the same type of opportunity normally, I would be fine with that (and keep everyone else not a paying guest out - I'd be fine with that. I love trick or treaters and truthfully and looking forward to our ressies in 2017. That being said - reading some of these posts have made me scratch my head and wonder what I've signed up for....

Think about those poor souls who pay $400 plus for one hotel room that only sleeps 4 - $156 is pricey considering, but I routinely pay $65 a nite around here (Smokey Mountains - TN/NC) for a "nice" campground that can't hold a candle to the Fort! I just wish they would put some more back into the Fort - bring the RR back, something! - if they are going to charge rates like that!

ABC tv show Blackish episode at Disney World
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to Seals's topic in WDW and Disney Park Discussions
Amen - I used to watch (with my sons of course!) and for a kid who grew up with 3 whole TV channels and cartoons only on Saturday mornings it was amazing to me that there was 24 hour cartoons and shows. My oldest son (who is 24) loved "Doug" and the 90's cartoons and I introduced him to the old Looney Tunes and MM that I enjoyed as a kid. No little kids at home now - when I'm channel surfing and run across Disney/CN/Nick - bleh. We are waiting 2 more months to cancel our Direct-TV and going to just internet based providers. Gimme my Walking Dead/Game of thrones and a bit of Breaking B -

Did Dave give him some of his famous green beer or is there a new Kungaloosh recipe that I'm aware of....wow. -

How long until some fool gets hurt crossing the fence to rock hop....where there's a will (and stupidity to match) there's a way! Shame... -
Loop Direction

We just left Friday - I though it was just me, but it was very quiet and calm most of the week - seems like as the next weekend approached, it got much more "rowdy" -
Yet another loop/site advice request!!
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to cddskj's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
We were I the 1200 loop this past week and a flock of wild turkeys walked all the way around the loop- not to mention deer are everywhere. I don't think you will miss a lot in any loop! -
Mickey Lamp post question
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to jrbdad's topic in Crafting: Camping and beyond
I put a male 3 prong plug in the "neck" and a female 3 prong plug in the top of the 2" pipe so I can take head off in transport - had it come apart too many times! If anyone is going to be at the fort next week, I'm bringing two bodyless mickey heads that have lights in the head and a led that shines down from "neck" - going to dress them up as ghosts...hopefully. -

I've stayed at POP once - never again. I like the peaceful night time feeling of the fort too much - it's just as loud at 11pm as it is at 11am there....good value, but I'd rather stay in a tent at FW.....too many Swindlers elsewhere. -
Halloween at the Fort
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to TeamEnglish's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
Welcome! It's been my dream for years to stay at the fort over halloween. We usually make it down every few years in mid-october for my Kid's fall break. My youngest is now a Junior in HS and in two short years I will FINALLY get to stay at the Fort over Halloween - probably with no kids - now that I think about it, I guess that's a bit creepy...oh well. Hoping you get you ressie! -
Whispering Canyon Cafe ???????
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to jrbdad's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
Just be sure and ask for Ketchup..... I'm with TCD, not sure the food is better than Trails End, but the lobby and grounds of the Wilderness Lodge are something to see. Great for kids in the pre-teens down. -
Cooler on Sale
Humphrey Bear…Rob replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I think the key here is once you get your cooler and the contents down to the temp you want, a milk jug or "ice tube" will do their best work to maintain. In full disclosure, I do have a YETI - I've found over the years that the combination of Ice and water - not just ice alone - is the best way to maintain your cooler. Air is not nearly as good as water to transfer temps. So air between tubes or milk jugs won't be as good as adding some ice cold water to the mix. Lazy man's way - dump extra ice in and voila, you have ice and WATER soon. LOL. Having been involved in scouting over the past
