  1. very cool... :yay: you guys rock! i don't want to move in with you but, would you at least be my neighbor? you guys are doing a great job and i am very jealous..
  2. i have a normal 35 mm rebel with a 200 zoom and a doubler. i love it when we go out to national parks. hoping to upgrade to a digital before we do another trip out that way.. i will be watching this thread for more tips and to see what ya'll have learned. :)
  3. have a great time! yes, i am jealous. i will be sitting here in the balmy 30 degree weather and white sand snow fields...
  4. there's an orange stand that sells them. bob might know where it is because denise had us go there one time. but, why do you want boiled peanuts? they are soooo gross! it's like eating a baked bean in a really soft shell.... yuk!
  5. we don't have the lance but the host truck camper has three slides. it's a monster and definitely needs to be on a dually. i don't have any pics handy..
  6. alright, maybe not quite yet for some of us. lol here are a few pics from a campground in Plumtree, NC. Toe River Lodge is definitely in the mountains and ran by an awesome family. http://www.vancetoeriverlodge.com/ They rent cabins and yes even YURTs. They have a work camp program which is really cool. We were there I believe in 2004. Looking at their website now-things have changed. Go to their site and check out their work camp programs. It was really neat to stay there. But, if I recall correctly the road in the campground is pretty steep.. Here's a few pics.. our site... a
  7. i don't know if this was brought up--but, a class C is less expensive to insure than a class A. When we had our seneca (super c) the insurance co would send our renewal as an A and we would have to call and let them know that it was a C. It was less to insure. not sure if it is true all the way around but, you may want to check with your insurance.
  8. Our state parks have been on line for a long time. but, most of our parks (-again 1/2 the sites might be reservable and 1/3 of those might have electric) are full at exactly 1 yr out. residents can reserve either 12 or 13 months ahead of time and it opens to illinois residents-i mean the rest of the world at like 11 months out. so, you have to plan that far out or take a chance. we've stopped going. sad, because like most state parks they are very pretty and peaceful..
  9. yes, you can have generators there. and many people do use them. but i think it's only during the day??? we stayed there in 2008 and it was really nice. thanks for the pics.
  10. awesome tr so far. thanks for sharing - i only look at pics. lol and now i really want a cinnamon roll from msb.....
  11. i don't wear watches and i don't wear rings. i don't like to wear that stuff. so, i don't know how much i would like it. i would rather keep it in my pocket.
  12. oh, how fun! i think three days would be good. we've been there a couple times and never spent more than 2 nights. it all depends on what you want to accomplish while you are there. hope you have a great trip!
  13. i'm glad you can still get a card. not everyone wants to wear bands. thanks lou and the rest... this is good info.
  14. that would totally suck! but, on the other hand- i guess i would only be at the fort and not doing parks anymore. so, i guess-they can decide if i spend more than i should or a lot more than i should. cause i ain't buyin tickets that expire. it'll be kinda nice not spending all that extra money.
  15. we like having our golf cart. the only place we use it - is pretty much at the fort. but, we do use it - a lot - at home. going to the fort a few times a year or a longer stay would be worth buying. but, also consider how much a rental would be and that you could put that $ into your own cart. i know a few people that could own a cart in just a few rental times. also--i really haven't seen depreciation in the 2 carts we have owned. not real sure-but, i think they hold their value pretty good..
  16. sounds like you are having a great time! i bet the photo pass is fun at this time of year. enjoy the trip!
  17. first we have a few pics of the changing leaves. it is either kentucky or tennessee. it was in more color on the way home but, it was pretty on the way down. it's amazing what you see sometimes when you take a road trip. this was in tennessee and i just had to take a picture of the idiot.. can you believe someone would be dumb.... after tennessee it was time to see what georgia had to offer us... and we came upon this. i thought it was really cool that this guy was in the halloween spirit and was able to get all his entire family in his truck. :rofl3: next we were in florida-ahhh.
  18. awesome pics. the theme you picked was very cool. you guys look like you did a great job and had fun!
