  1. Gross. If that was the birth, then we are now in the afterbirth. No wonder the weather has been so humid and slimy.
  2. I woke up in an alley in Tijuana after a weekend of parties and debauchery in Detroit. As I lay there, being picked at by drunken otters, I heard a voice say "Look at that dude. He's so washed out he should be called a Fiend." And the rest, as they say, is history.
  3. Yay! I get to be Jen's friend now!!!!!! (I was worried for a while).

  4. A small world. I was born in Charleston, lived there for a few months before Dad got transferred to Delaware (for the 2nd time).
  5. Every time I see John I recognize him even less. Looking good, my man! Always good to see a Fiend meeting. I was on a good roll last year, but none this year. Gotta get closer to Fien-dom.
  6. I'll go with TCD here. You've heard all the platitudes, I won't try to find new ones. Time will give you what you need to make your decisions, and I'll also join the rest and say that I hope you keep camping. It may be in a different unit, or a very different type of unit, but you still have that connection to your life. Hang in there, Dan. I'd consider it an honor to sit at the Fort and have a beer with you. I'll get there one day, one way or another.
  7. The baby is gas-powered only while moving. When you stop and stand still they run on batteries. That way the gas doesn't cloud around you when you are standing still. I hear they go further on a feeding, too. Unless you are in the air conditioning, then they stay on gas. Oh well, you can't have it all.
  8. Yeah well, I got to spend my week in the office and the car, covering other people's butts while getting nothing but criticism for it. So there.
  9. Our Shih Tzu is allowed to roam in the TT alone, but the Lab never is. She is on her tie-out, outside. If the weather turns bad and she needs to come in then she goes to the kennel. If we leave camp for any reason, we have both dogs in their kennels, then locked in the TT. What was really brainless was that the camper in my OP actually has 2 dogs. The other one was in a kennel at the time. They just believed that the older one would be mature enough not to try to escape. It freaked him out when he came back to camp and found the dog on the tie-out, when he knew he had left her in the p'up. May
  10. It takes me about 20 minutes door-to-door, without the trailer. I started working last year. My kids love camping there, and I decided to ask if they would trade campsites for work hours. So far it's worked out pretty good.
  11. I was working for the local KOA this weekend. One of the campers came into the office, telling us that the dog from the site next door was loose. She put it on its tie-out, but its owners were not in the CG and she didn't want the dog to get away. Turns out the owners put the dog in the p'up and then left for some local attractions for the day. The dog kept pawing at the side of the p'up and managed to undo a section of velcro and snap-down, then wiggled out the gap. Ahem, they invented indoor kennels for this, people! Take care of your dog!!
  12. Finally, good weather for camping this weekend. I took 2 of the 3 kids out to the KOA Friday afternoon, and the 3rd one joined us Saturday after a 4H overnight. The weather was perfect- mid 80's during the afternoon, plenty of sun, enough breeze to stay cool. And no rain. The kids hit the pool, but it was still too cold for this old man. I lasted about 15 minutes. I volunteer at this CG, so they give me the site free when I come out. The kids help with some of their activities and deliver pizzas, I help with check-ins and escorts, and walk security rounds after quiet hours. Between this, mini
  13. Well, it's very simple. PP is the standard activity following the consumption of beer or kungaloosh. If no comfort station is handy, this may be handled with the help of a tree, large van or camper, or a tall bush as protection. PPK is a bit more time-consuming, and is usually referred as "doing number 2." This normally requires inside facilities, as blocking the view is not enough. For further reference, see "Stall #2."
  14. I'd rather they spend all their time debating things like this. It keeps them from spending the time screwing up other things.
  15. I'm sure that's the idea. Slow down the golf carts that are whipping out into the road without looking.
  16. I nominate me. I'll phone in my votes, and they can pay for all my trips there for vacation, at least once a month. They can keep the bagels.
  17. That, I am afraid, is a myth. Discs can't move, nor can they "slip." What they can do, aided by the breakdown associated with age and mileage, is bulge in one or more places. That can push into the God-given gaps that allow nerve roots to branch out from the spine toward the rest of the body. If it touches a nerve, or even pushes the spinal fluid against the nerve, you get pain sensations. This breakdown also allows the vertebra to migrate downward as the disc becomes flatter. If the vertebral bodies get too close together, it creates pain sensations. The Chiro can help with alignment of the v
  18. As a nurse, I won't advise you to stay away from them, but I will tell you to tread lightly. My job is to line ill or injured patients up with the care that they need, then evaluate it to see if it resolved the issues (as much as can be). If not, we do it again another way. See the surgeon, listen to his/her advice. I have worked with Chiropractors that have been butchers. I also have a couple of them locally that I have gotten patients referred to, and they have literally pulled rabbits out of the hat for me. They cannot change anything about a degenerated disc, any more than the surgeon can.
  19. Forget the post counts, what happens to the smilies? I can't be losin' my big green bird. :) :) :) :) :) :) :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot:
  20. I can "toot." Is that the same thing? Or is is more like Dave's O-HAAAAA-naaa?
  21. I'd like to see more of it. So skip dinner, grab that camera and start shooting. And some of the dogs too. Why do you want him to shoot the dogs? Isn't that illegal?
