  1. I like it when one of the characters starts a parade through the place. It's like the Pied Piper, all the kids start filing along behind them, weaving around the room. That's when you can get a better opening for the desserts at the buffett.
  2. Cape May Cafe is a buffet, as is Cyrstal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. Nothing fancy, but we enjoy both. I've wanted to try Biergarten, but my wife didn't enjoy the first time I took her to a German restaraunt.
  3. I agree, welcome to the asylum. You are our first international member (that I know of) and we're glad to have you here.
  4. I agree, the reason for having it out is protection from the sun and rain. I prefer to have it out overnight since it gives me a dry area to walk when the rest of the site is covered in dew. It was a blessing one weekend last summer. It was raining when we woke up, but I could still cook saugages and eggs on the griddle outside the door, so the TT didn't smell like grease all day. The problem in this part of the country is that rain is often part of a thunderstorm, which means wind. I'm never sure how much my awning will withstand, so I'm nervous about leaving it up at night.
  5. My oldest daughter and I enjoy Boma's in the AK Lodge. We all enjoyed Cape May Cafe at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, Garden Grill in EPCOT, Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge.
  6. Nothing too high-tech here. We have the small TV and DVD player that I take out of my office. The kids always take books, and we have a cabinet of board games, dice, and cards. My son keeps a box of Leggos in there, too. I try to keep them out of the camper and playing outside as much as possible. My oldest will retire to book reading later in the evening, my son will be watching a movie, and my middle one will be out enjoying the fire with us. If it's not too brezzy we'll be playing games on the picnic table as long as we have enough light.
  7. For those with awnings attached to their campers, do you normally roll them up at night or not? If you base it on the wind predictions, what is the wind speed that makes you decide to take it up? I like to have it out when I get up in the morning, esp if there is dew on the ground. It makes a dry area around the door. I just wondered what other people do. Also was wondering whether you leave the feet on the side of the camper, or set them out carport style.
  8. A pole or rod & reel, some hooks, and worms will be enough to get you started. I opened my tackle box a couple of years ago, after about a 20-year hiatus from the sport. Believe it or not, most everything was still usable. We are rank amatuers when it comes to fishing, but the kids and I still enjoy it. As we go along we'll get more sophisticated, but for now it's just the basics.
  9. You forgot your meds again this morning Denise. Put down the Red Bull and find the medicine cabinet. :partythree:
  10. Welcome to the wagon. :D Glad to see another lost soul find the deep abyss of insanity.
  11. Howdy. However, you should aspire to join groups that are high-class enough they won't accept members like me.
  12. Aah yes. The Mayor out campaigning against the irresponsible use of jackwagons without a permit. I hate it when people let their jackwagons run amuck!
  13. Man am I jealous. I'd so love to be there right now. A 10-day Fort trip would do the body good.
  14. I'll go with you! I LOVE cajun food. If you let me come, 40% off the tab. Sounds good! Anybody with 40% off is always welcome at my table. :)
  15. Awesome way to get a tip on the job.
  16. (Guess I hit the max length, it wouldn't let me out this all in one post) Another one, coming back from EPCOT one night. We stayed till closing and the busses were packed to the gills. I was holding my son, who had fallen asleep on my shoulder. We were standing at the front along with three or four 20-something guys who thought they were God's gift to humanity. Just as we pulled away from the loading area, traffic came to a sudden stand-still. Busses and cars, all trying to leave the park, and nobody could move an inch. We found out later that there had been a bus (non-Disney) vs. car accident
  17. Magicbus's comments got me to thinking about all the different busses we have ridden on at Disney. Funny how it's the vehicle that seems to occupy so much of your attention (is that the right bus? Nope, not yet), yet usually the faces of the drivers come and go. Got me to thinking about a few. Our first trip, the driver that took my daughter and me over to the MK one night. The rest of the family stayed to play in the pool, but she wanted to see the parade. We were the only ones on the bus and she jabbered at him non-stop from the time she got on the bus to the time she got off. I know he coul
  18. We've enjoyed the food court. I want to try Boatright's, but the rest of the family isn't such a fan of cajun-type cooking, so I haven't tried it.
  19. POR to MK is no more than 10 minutes, less than 5 miles. It's not the miles, it's the traffic and the number of stops. MK was the longest ride of them all, with AK a close second. (EPCOT and DHS are right across the street, so they don't count. I was impressed both trips with the way the busses handled things. There might have been once each trip where we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, and that included leaving the parks after EMH. On the first trip we even had a bus driver go out of his way to help us. We were at the Boardwalk, and the busses had stopped running there for the evening
  20. OK, so I don't have anything to compare. We've been to The World twice with the kids. We live too far away to make a camping trip feasible, and my wife is more of a hotel person, so this worked well both times. There are 5 of us, so a lot of the resorts are not available, unless we want to get 2 rooms. One section of POR has rooms that will sleep 5, and is less expensive than 2 rooms or a suite at Pop Century. I love the landscaping, though the winding pathways and indirect routes are a PITA when you're just trying to get somewhere. The rooms are "roomy" enough that we don't feel too crowded,
  21. Tell him the banner ads over here are not expensive, and are a flat rate per month. Have him call Jen or Chris to ask about it. He'll be getting a lot of exposure.
  22. Welcome to the splash party! Getting us to talk is no problem, it's getting us to shut up that is difficult.
