  1. When is it you're thinking of going? We've also found that if we purchase an annual pass, we get some decent discounts on the rooms. Only one person in your party needs it to secure the room discount. While it is never guaranteed that this will be a perk, we have found that they usually run a decent Annual Passholder discount. If you plan your trip right, you can get two trips out of the pass as well. As it's good for an entire year. If you visit just a week earlier the following year, you're getting two visits and the room discounts with that one annual pass. As I mentioned we had a rate of

  3. We looked at those. They end up being more expensive than POR, though it looks like more floor space. What made us stay with POR was the quality of the food court, plus a the smaller pools scattered around the resort, in addition to the big main one.
  4. "Discount" is the key word. Neither time we went had a decent discount offer on the deluxes, and the cabins are just as expensive. next time Down I wi work on my wife about renting an RV and staying at the Fort.
  5. Here are two Facebook groups that I am in. We've gotten some good recipies from them. http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=184459641132 http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=263037202669
  6. We tried this the first time we went to The World, in '08. My oldest daughter and I enjoyed it so much that we went back there in '10, just the two of us. We spent the whole dinner eating of each other's plates. It's a buffet, so it gets kind of expensive. The food is good, African fare would be the best way for me to describe it. My wofe and 2 younger kids are more traditional-minded, but my oldest and I look forward to it.
  7. http://www.rvusa.org/dev/forum/viewforum.php?f=42&sid=ff92066e95b9b503716ce2c161e8e0d9 I don't know if this has been linked yet, but this takes you to John's site, rvUSA,org. I have gotten some really good recipies from here. My kids ask for Frank's breakfast casserole every time we go out.
  8. We have made it to The World twice since the kids got older, in '08 and '10. Since we live too far away to make camping feasible, we flew down and stayed on-site. Both times we stayed at PO Riverside. We basically found 3 options: 2 rooms at a value resort, a suite at Pop Century, or Alligator Bayeau at POR. With 5 of us, we couldn't do single rooms in most of the resorts. I'd like to get some input on on-site and off-site places for a family of 5, or 6 for that matter. We like to do the extra hours, so we stayed on-site, but there must be good places off-site as well. Where do you prefer to g
  9. Awnings are pretty standard, but they are just overheads. You can find rooms with sides that are made to fit specific trailers or moho's, but they are not very common, at least not in the Midwest. I like that one you have.
  10. Even though I would continuously break my nose trying to walk out the right (or is that wrong) side of the TT, I gotta say I love that add-a-room enclosure on it.
  11. Pssst, John. Does your brother know that the door is on the wrong side of his camper? :rofl2:
  12. As for the otters, it's like this. One night Deb, "The Hedgehog Spotter" got a little carried away after 2 quick kungalooshes and 13 Mickey waffles. Then she started snorting the pixie dust and running all around the campground trying to fly from table to table. During one of her crash-and-burns, she looked up and saw the Sheriff's Department tracking her down with police dogs. In her altered state (and because the blanket she tied around her neck partially blocked her vision) she thought they were giant, trained otters. Which was odd, because the Sheriff had not yet signed the contract with t
  13. That would be a scarier topic than the people of Wal Mart.
  14. I've never been to Cognito. Maybe he can post some pics of the place.
  15. Can I get to a good fishing spot that way, or do I need to take a bus?
  16. You are bad, but let me think...... OK, I know the Yellow Settlement Bus goes through the Yellow Route, then goes over to WL...... Does it become the WL/MK bus??? no, FW buses stay FW buses you have to transfer to a MK bus, same stop different bus SSDD. Same stop, different driver. :parrot:
  17. I think we just found a new way to identify fellow fiends from a distance: 1. Buy big, purple underwear 2. Put a clothesline on your site 3. Hang underwear purchased in step 1 on clothesline set up in step 2 :flush2: What makes you think I'd have to go out and buy big underwear? I just need to wash the ones I have in the same load as my daughter's purple sweatshirt.
  18. Boat to the Wilderness Lodge, then bus to DHS. Boat to MK, monorail to EPCOT, stroll to DHS. Boat to MK, bus to another resort that you've been wanting to check out, then bus to DHS.
  19. Play toys, leashes, and tie-outs for the dogs. We keep those and a supply of plastic bags in the TT as poop picker-uppers. 5-gal Water jug, sits outside and cuts down on trips in and out of the TT and the fridge for water bottle fill-ups. And the most, most important... beer and Twizzlers. Some things I refuse to be without.
  20. Ditto on the DVD players. I used to take the portable unit out of the van when we were tenting it. Everyone gathered in the tent and watched until they got sleepy. It made a nice transition from activity to sleepiness. Also, take an oscillating fan if the weather is warm. That little bit of breeze makes it a lot easier to seep.
  21. Dave, I just took another look at that picture and thought, could your older daughter look ANY more like her Momma?
  22. I think you ost your "L". :rofl2: The parrot ate it when I got mad and told it to go to "L."
  23. and another ost soul find their way out of the abyss. :rofl2:
