Welcome Nigel! I say they are most likely Groundhogs. And Good News! they did NOT see their shadows this year. :rofl2: :rofl2: :) :) :) -
Hey, is this another "FiendFlush 2011" thread??? :flush2: Two things I would like to see: More comfort stations. Some of the loops share one CS and from some sites it is a real hike. Family restrooms. When pushing a stroller it's nice to be able to roll in and close the door and have room to manuever, change diapers, etc. I think they did put one in at the Meadows Pool Bldg. Like Carol said, I have also seen some newer campgrounds that had a row of single restrooms that have sink, toilet and shower all in one room. Gotta like that.

We did the Fort Segway Adventure last year and had a blast. It was my lovely bride's first time on a Segway (I had done the Epcot tour previously) and she took to it right away. They had the class part over next to the BarBQ/River Country area, then they took us all over the Fort, over to the Wilderness Lodge, and then off-road back to the Fort on the Nature Trail. If I had the extra moolah I would definitely get a couple to loop with....

No, in fact you don't have to be doing anything w/them to stay there. If you want to they will gladly assign you a salesperson to show you what they have, but unless you ask or you go over to their new RV sales building, they won't bother you. I did have them rebuild my Class C several years ago when it was seriously damaged at Fort Wilderness. They did a great job (like new!) and when done they gave us a free campsite to check it out for a couple of days and make sure everything was done right. It is a convenient place to get service and to shop for a new or used RV, but when we have stayed t

What Would You Do?

Great idea Deb. I have seen that too, and in some surprisingly small boats. People also stay in them at boat launch parking lots overnite before launching in the AM. Course, you could go the other way and get one of those motorhomes they showed off a couple of years ago that drive right into the water and turn into a houseboat..... :D :D :) :) -
Another RV Park we have stayed at. It is located at the Lazy Days RV dealership in Seffner. It is right off I-4 and only an exit or two from I-75. It is in a good spot if you are using I75 to come to or from the Fort. It is also good if you need service at Lazy Days or the Camping World on site. It is almost too clean, as it is a very landscaped and well-kept park, mostly used by Rally-goers, RV buyers, or Service customers at Lazy Days. It is dog-friendly. Really nice heated pool and hot tub, easy in and out from highway. There is a Flying J and a CrackerBarrel right nearby, IIRC there ar

We have stayed here only once so far a couple of years ago. It seemed nice and clean. A little heavy on the gravel everywhere but the website says they have completely renovated the campground and put in concrete pads. Open year round, easy on and off I95, dog friendly, pull through sites. 8 miles north of Richmond. Doesn't say if they still have after hours sites available but every KOA we have stopped at has had it (when they still have sites left.... always best to call ahead) http://www.americampskoa.com/ AmericampsKOA Richmond North 11322 Air Park Rd. We have stayed here a couple of times. This campground is on the grounds of the Kings Dominion Amusement Park, although it does have a separate entrance before you get to the Park entrance. It is easy on and off I95, has after hours check in, dog friendly, pull thru sites, and is open year-round. The bathrooms are modern and clean, but if its cold out the seasonals will smoke in the bathrooms even though there are big signs asking them not to........ apparently it is an ongoing problem there. It's also a little confusing to find the way to your site after dark if it's your first time there, b

This KOA is off Exit 1 of I95 in Georgia, just over the border from FLA. We have stayed there many times and never had a problem getting a site later at night. After hours check in, dog friendly, clean bathrooms, pull thru sites. Easy on and off I95 It is an easy drive to FW the next day after an overnite at this KOA. Or a good first stop NB if you lingered at the Fort a little too long on your last day.... :) http://koa.com/campgrounds/jacksonville/ Jacksonville North / St. Marys KOA 2970 Scrubby Bluff RoadKingsland, GA 31548 :) :) :) :) :)

There is a train, but we use a fan AND the wine :-) I remember hearing it, but like Pixi said, we usually get in late and are tired. Plus the sound of a train kind of reminds me that we are travelling and are somewhere on the road to adventure!! -
Ok let the party start:

Just stayed there in Jan. Have stayed many times since it is in a good spot for us to stop for the night. Easy on and off I95, pull thru sites (they advertise the longest pull-thrus east of the Mississippi) After hours check-in, dated but clean bathrooms, dog friendly http://www.newgreenacres.com/ New Green Acres RV Park 396 Campground Road, Walterboro, SC 29488 Phone #: (843) 538-3450 Toll Free #: (800) 474-3450

Just stayed there again in Jan. Clean, new bathrooms, pull thru sites, easy on and off I95, After hours check-in. Sites right near a fishing pond. Stayed there a few times. Some traffic noise, but nothing a small fan didn't cover. Used to be a KOA. Best of all, it's home to Camper the Dog! A super friendly mix that the owners took in years ago. Securing EZ-up canopies
Avatab.... Steve replied to SCTigerCock's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Agree. I always use straps or ropes as well. Don't forget, it only takes just a little more fabric than an EZ UP for a hanglider to take off w/ a 200 plus pound person hanging on for dear life....
