  1. If you have ITunes on your computer you can subscribe for free. ITunes is also a free download. Most podcasts are free at least for the first week or two after they are released. It's a wealth of information, I download a bunch of different ones before a long drive or to listen to while mowing, etc. There is every topic imaginable, including several on RVing and Camping. Just don't start buying music, that's when it can get expensive...
  2. One unintended consequence of this will be to trap gators, deer, or other animals on the wrong side of the fence sometimes. The fences will all have an end-point, and if an animal wanders around it they won't be able to easily escape back into the water when startled.
  3. Thanks for the info. I did not know that there were so many and that Disney was making an effort to remove the bigger ones. My guess is that Mo is right and Disney will be removing every gator they can now.....
  4. Hey, good timing! We were just playing this for the first time last week at our local State Park Our 6 year old loved it and we officially added it to our regular game bin. And you're right, it's neat how you can choose the level of difficulty of the questions The 6 year old (he keeps telling everyone that he's SIX YEARS OLD now! LOL) won 3 out of 4 games so I think we are bumping him up a level our next trip
  5. Ha! That explains why they refused to allow us to have a non-disney tree company come and inspect the tree for us. Their Legal people kept saying that it must have been a windstorm or small tornado that knocked it down even though the family playing ball near our site said there was no wind (thank God their daughters ran when they heard a huge "CRACK"....) It also explains why, a week or two later, Disney embarked on their epic tree-clearing binge. Still not sure if Alligator attack is considered an Act of God though. Especially when there doesn't seem to have been any real effort
  6. Not sure if it applies to this situation, but several years ago when a tree fell on my camper in the 1900 loop the Disney Legal Dept told me that Florida law exempted Disney from any liability for "Acts of God"...... They made it clear that a tree falling was considered an Act of God by Florida case law. Whether an alligator attack is also an Act of God is a good question. My guess is that Disney is also protected in animal attacks unless gross negligence or malicious intent can be proven. So I would say you are right, Disney knows that they are in the clear legally, and you are
  7. Couldn't agree more. How sad is it that the EPCOT of 20 years ago was a better park than it is now.....
  8. What I'd like to see is a story about Disney buying land in Texas. The best thing they could do to relieve crowding at the MK and WDW in general would be to put another park halfway between WDW and DW......
  9. I doubt it, as far as I know those amenities are only available on our very own 3000 Loop at the Fort.
  10. I know Target is a center of controversy lately, but if you have a Target Red Card you can buy Disney gift cards there and get 5% off each one. I have used them several times and the 5 dollars off each 100 dollar card adds up quickly, especially if you just buy a couple each time you stop there. They almost always have the 50 dollar cards up near the registers, the 100 dollar cards are more elusive but they do usually have them. It sounds like the Sam's Club discount is about the same.
  11. This is right in line with our conversations here about Disney "managing demand" instead of expanding parks or resorts (or campsites) And it confirms that they are more interested in short term revenue than long term expansion, at least for right now. The fact that it has worked for them means that Travisma is correct, expect more of this.
  12. I mentioned on another thread that it seems like Disney is going to start hyping the premium parking passes and slowly doing away with the regular passes, or at least not enforce them nearly as much. I could see different booths set up to sell different levels of parking. Then do what they used to do for AAA parking, station a CM at the turnoffs for the higher end lots to check your golden passes to see if you qualify for beautiful-people parking
  13. Ha! I have had that same race many times, it was always a poorly thought out design.
  14. We keep hearing that each resort is it's own unit for business and budget purposes, I wonder if it is also up to each resort management on how to control parking in their area? On the other hand it sounds as though the parking passes are going away across the entire WDW empire. If I had to guess they have decided to approach it from the other direction. Instead of requiring proof of being eligible for free parking at the parks, they might be going to a system of letting everyone in to the outer lots for free, then charging more for the closer ones and/or Valet parking. Wasn't there
  15. Another vote for SOB! As others stated above, it's not for everyone, but we always stop if only for a bite to eat. We have also stayed overnight several times and as AldeanFan said, nothing fancy, but it has always been clean, quiet, and inexpensive.
  16. So if I'm sharing a site so we can go a full day at the Lagone, does that mean we can only decorate half the site until midnight? Can we hang our beach towels on your clothesline while using your grille? And which half gets to park with 2 wheels off the pad? Both? None? This is hard thinking and you people are mean!
  17. I'm surprised they haven't made her do the Must-Do's over again but this time while holding a Starbucks cup.....
  18. Even the Stacy videos are starting to look older. They've spliced in some new parts to include newer attractions to keep them up to date though. And I will admit it does start to get a little annoying after a few dozen viewings in a row.... that's when I switch over to NHK But by the time I get home I am missing Stacey again
  19. It may or may not be a huge problem, I do know it was a hot topic on a Disney-related FB page last year and several people reported that it was a tactic promoted by some rental agents in the WDW area in order to push their own rental properties.... Remember the flap awhile back about some Agents promoting the use of a "handicapped" person in order to cut lines at the parks? If there's a way to scam the system you can bet there are those who will, and the idea quickly spreads. IIRC Disney even changed their policies as a result of that one. And don't forget that you don't have to ren
  20. We haven't officially arrived at the Fort until I get the cable hooked up and Stacey appears on the TV screen. I also used to love the "Appliance Direct Channel" for some reason and I would also put on the Japanese News Channel for background noise. For some strange reason I enjoy the sound of people speaking Japanese, it's actually soothing and helps during nap time. Go figure....
  21. All good points Derek. I agree with you, I also would want to stay at the Fort, but how many times have we seen posts right here on FF that someone couldn't get a campsite so they either didn't go at all, stayed at a CG outside Disney, or ended up getting a room at one of the resorts and left the camper at home? You are most likely right about Disney not ever doing this, but then again they built a whole bunch of different resort levels, and even have different levels of rooms inside each resort (just like the Fort does). I know they are all about DVC lately, but Disney HATES to los
  22. Speaking of Cable at the Fort, Stacey Aswad posted this on her FB page: Host Stacey J. Aswad with Stacey Aswad. 1 hr · Happy Disney-versary to me! On 5/5/05 my amazing TV hosting journey began as the Top 7 Must Sees at WDW premiered. Then came the Year of A Million Dreams & since 2009 it's been all about "doing the Must Do's" with the Must Do Disney show. Thank you to the wonderful fans for watching all these years & for all the love! It means the world to me to be
  23. Valid points. One way that they could address that problem would be an idea I floated a few months ago here. Build another camping area just for weekend demand with very basic services, it would be a Disneyfied parking lot sort of like the Caravan Parks they have in Europe. Put it somewhere on property that they have no plans for. Call it a Value Resort and price it accordingly. The next step after that would be to call the Fort a Moderate resort and then ideally at some point later they would create a Deluxe CG with all the bells and whistles for high-end customers or super-big ri
  24. We used to have a pop-up (two in a row actually, and I still miss the second/nicer one, there's something nice about the open-air feel that you just don't get in a hard-side camper...) and I would always have a bag of earplugs on board just in case. For that matter, I still carry them in our motorhome, but luckily it's been rare that we've had to use them. We usually do what TCD mentioned above and turn on a fan or the AC. I agree that midnight is a good compromise for turning off decorations, now we'll see if the Fort enforces it consistently.
  25. "bemused interest" That's great, and sums it up nicely I agree with you that it would be drawing more attention if the letter came from the Fort Fiends as a whole, but is that a bad thing? I get that you wouldn't want them to think of us as pains in the neck, or just complainers, but it might also bring some positives to try and work with the new Fort Management as a group. In our State, we have "Friends" groups that are private, but associate themselves with State Parks. Our local State Park has a group that does weekend campouts and spend some time helping the Park do proj
