  1. You know what they ought to do? Over at the Innoventions in Disneyland in January we got to see a Honda Asimo in action. Why not put that in Epcot?
  2. Well, we didn't do TL after all, but did go to AK instead on Monday. We were shocked and surprised that the park was not crowded at all, and the longest wait, Everest and Kali River Rapids, topped out at 35 minutes for the whole time we were there which was all but the last two hours the park was open.
  3. So it does it automagically? That's nice. Now for a nice little digression: We went to Disneyland back in January. While we were there we made a side trip to visit some of my relatives over in Laguna beach and the GPS routed me over a #$@@ toll road for all of 3 miles. Guess what? NO TOLL BOOTHS! Instead, the system takes your picture, and they had instructions on paying your toll online within 5 days via a poorly constructed web page. All you have to do is put in the entry and exit plazas, which were not conveniently labeled either on the plazas or the online map. It took me about an hour to
  4. My wife's aunt lives in Clermont. I know one thing: if you are planning to travel back and forth to the parks the lights on the way to WDW from Clermont are a royal PITA, and there's a zillion of them.
  5. I've thought about getting one since Orlando is toll-road city. We travel mostly with our camper but for short trips we prefer the tent. How hard is it to switch tolls for 2 axle and 2+ axle before a trip?
  6. Thanks for the input... we might do it after all! Woo hoo!
  7. This article looks like such a puff piece for WDW... did someone internal write it for them? Seems like it.
  8. We have an upcoming trip to the Fort-only this weekend! We have however toyed with the idea of making a trip to TL for one of the days as it's quickly become one of our favorite Disney World destinations when we visit. We would absolutely not go to one of the four theme parks due to crowds at this time, but what's the story on the water parks? Would we be better off shooting ourselves in the face vs daring venture into the water parks during spring break? Just curious what crowd levels there are like during spring break week. Most of the people that we know have either never heard of the wate
  9. This news came from the Orlando Attractions Magazine on Facebook. Here's what they said (on Feb 5): "Today is the last day ever to trade Vinylmation at Walt Disney World. Disney will still be selling them and guests can still trade with each other." To which I asked: "I haven't found anything online to corroborate this. Any official news?" They reply: "We confirmed it with Disney."
  10. I read on Facebook that there will no longer be any Vinylmation trading at WDW with castmembers in the stores. This is a major blow to one of my favorite WDW activities if true. Has anyone else been able to verify this? If so, I am mad!!!
  11. I'm clearly in the minority here, but I though the "under new management" show with Lago and Zazu was actually much much better.
  12. Thanks for the trip report. Jen and I are in the process of planning our own DL visit here in a couple of weeks, so the intel is much appreciated! My first experience with DL was back in 2003 and was kind of lacking... the castle was all scaffolded up, couldn't see it. Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain were both closed due to some unfortunate accident that resulted in a death on BTRR a few weeks before. I was really ticked about that since at that time it had been over 10 years since I had last been to WDW. Anyway, I remember really enjoying Matterhorn, and Indiana Jones, and the Pooh ri
  13. On the trip before last, we tried to take the resort monorail over to MK for rope drop after eating Captain Cooks for breakfast, only to end up stuck on the beam for about 20 minutes. Totally missed the rope drop. That said, I still like the Monorail. :)
  14. Figures... every time we've taken the bus from Epcot it is a solid hour door to door... which is why we generally avoid the bus now. :)
  15. What you have (i.e. Class A, TT, 5th wheel): 18' Hybrid TT If you're towing (so TT or 5th wheel) how heavy is it: 3600 dry, 4400lbs. I think on average we are around 4100lbs. If you tow, what is your tow vehicle: 2011 GMC Acadia Gas mileage: 8-9 towing, 21 not towing Do you like it, love it or hate it (this applies to both the tow vehicle and what you're towing (or driving if Class A or C): It's fine, but I wish it had more power. If you'd like to make a change, change to what and why: I'd love more torques!
  16. I asked one of the CM at the front desk about the road between the Meadow group campsite and the marina and why it was marked for authorized vehicles only. He said, "oh, that's a nature preserve area. People ask about it and we tell them that people shouldn't go back there because there are bear and florida panthers sighted occasionally and people go back there anyway. I keep waiting for a camper to try and outrun a bear back there." I have heard about bear sightings a the Fort, and I have read that there are over 50 human-bear interactions a year in the Orlando area, so I could believe the
  17. You know... once upon a time I hear they had a cart of food/produce that ran through the loops.... maybe revisit that idea...
  18. We made the mistake last trip (first full week of October) of going to Epcot during the F&W deal. It was insanely crowded compared to everywhere else we went. We actually had to wait in line through the zig-zag queue for the Mexico ride! That has never happened to us before. I approve of these suggestions. Surely they could have fixed Imagination back to its former glory with all the money they blew on MB/FP+ and then some.
  19. We got back from our trip over the 10/3-10/11, and we were not harrassed at all by the rangers. I was a bit nervous though as we let one of our friends (with valid Campground parking pass) park at our site while we all went to the park. One of their wheels was off the pavement. No harrassment though. On our previous trip though I did get a talkin' to by the cop about how the tires have to be on the pavement so I was suitably nervous. A quick look up and down our loop revealed that almost none of our immediate neighbors were following the rule either, so I didn't feel too bad. Heck, one of them
  20. Apart from facade, is there a difference from this vs say Pop Century? The buildings look similar apart from that. That's the only value resort we've stayed at.
  21. We have booked through AAA a few times. To us, the biggest advantage is the AAA Diamond Parking pass, which when there's space available puts you right up near the Handicap and group parking goes, and that was very convenient when we were stroller-bound with the kids. I think at best we saved about 15% over booking separate and that was only for specific "Disney Days" promotional times of the year for AAA, otherwise there's no difference in cost. We have also done Dining plan and no dining plan. My wife and I really loved the dining plan the first time we got it, and the second time was good
  22. It's amazing how wide open things look around the check in pavilion!
  23. Facsimile technology is older than the phone believe it or not...and some people still actually use it!
