  1. Boy, talk about a misleading headline! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I guess I shouldn't point out that it's probably pretty easy to photocopy a parking pass.
  3. Update: We just returned from our 1400 mile round trip to the Fort with the new tires and I'm happy to report that the Carlisles performed admirably. Trailer rode nice and no issues.
  4. Seems like if they're going to do this then you should get a partial discount for the early park closure.
  5. We didn't either until this last trip... the front desk told me the same thing so we hung around and went swimming for a couple hours after check out.
  6. I asked about this yesterday and apologies if this has been covered already, but my understanding is that campers get one free pass under this new policy. To hedge my bets I went ahead and made a reservation yesterday for March 2019 in case we have others come with us since it only applies to new reservations after the 21st. Anywho, I am of two minds about this... on the one had I agree it sucks royally. On the other hand, I wonder if it will help open up reservations which are getting difficult. I know we have been several times to be told that the campground is all full up only to see s
  7. I have to wonder what leverage these resorts had over Disney to allow for this. Doesn't seem like it's in Disney's best interest.
  8. Oooh, they better not! Our girls loved the pony rides and I enjoy seeing the stables and the pristine open areas. I'd rather leave the big parking lots in the front.
  9. We like the all you can eat at Paula Dean's restaurant at the Island. We haven't tried anywhere else yet.
  10. I would try to find someplace off the main drag in Pigeon Forge. Gatlinburg road access is horrible on the weekends and unless you want to do something in Gatlinburg proper it's best to take the bypass around to get to GSMNP.
  11. I'm starting to wonder if I've blabbed one too many times about how great the Fort is. "The First rule of the Fort is, you don't talk about the Fort...." Hey, maybe there's something to that. It's not like Disney actually advertises the Fort all that much...
  12. I wonder where they intend the entrance to this thing to be. I imagine all those high paying guests are not going to want to sit through the check in line with all the pleb RV campers.
  13. I've yet to test drive mine yet. I pulled all four of and just took the loose wheels to Sam's. I pulled all the bearings and inspected them and put new seals in so it was convenient to do while they were out. While I had the drums off I discovered that all four brakes were contaminated with grease, I'm sure from using the ez lube system for the past 7 years. I guess I understand other people's reservations with ez -lube now! At least the bearings were good. What I cant understand is the pricing of trailer brakes. The best price I could find on brake shoes was $25 per wheel. The local shops
  14. I love the ride, don't get me wrong. :) What I can't figure out about that ride is that my 8 year old little girl loves it to death, but is terrified of Tower of Terror. Lightning Rod is easily the most intense roller coaster I've been on (in fact, I'd say most of the Dollywood coasters are pretty intense), and I'd say it's more thrilling than say Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.
  15. Just an update on our sitch... I bought the Carlisle Radial Trail HD tires from Sams Club. Given the availability (except for Sams themselves it seems) and recommendations all over the place, it seems like this is a well respected tire. It is chinese made, but appears to be at least a well molded tire, even to the point of getting fancy and stamping CARLISLE into the tread pattern like some fancier sports car tires. They are about 4 months old per the DOT label, so that's not too bad. Our local Sams Club didn't have them in stock, but were able to get them in a couple of days. Why are the
  16. You know what I've discovered? The only thing more terrifying that riding the Lightning Rod is riding the Lightning Rod at night! We love Dollywood too, and for us out of staters from Florida, it's actually affordable to get a season pass unlike Disney World. We usually stay at Up the Creek. A little farther away, but a nice place.
  17. I'm wondering now if I should poke around the shops of anywhere we end up replacing to see date codes, as I've seen a few complaints about buying old off the shelf tires.
  18. Thanks for the replies. I am religious about airing up the tires before each trip. In fact, one time the schrader valve wouldn't close after I checked the air and I ended up replacing the valve before we left! Glad I caught that! The Carlisles are literally everywhere I've checked. From my days of owning sports cars I am on the one hand a bit wary of getting anything that's just super cheap just because, and on the flipside I'd rather not get anything so exotic but is soo amazing but I can't find a replacement/warranty if I have a breakdown on a trip. Those Endurance tires are spendy
  19. It's time to replace the tires on our TT. We've got the stock Goodyear Marathon tires our trailer had when we purchased it new in 2011, and they have given us very good service. I'm inclined to go this route again but I've seen people mention them in the same breath as awful chinese made tires. I haven't checked to see where ours were manufactured, but we have put a lot of miles on them in the time we've had them and never had a problem. I'd estimate we're right around 15k miles on them. I gotta get this done before our next trip to the fort next month! :) These are load range C tires and
  20. My daughter and I had a good time hunting tree frogs along the high banks of the canal behind the 1500 loop near the main campground road. Found two or three.
  21. We have done a day trip to Wekiwa and paddled up river to the spring head. It is a pretty place!
  22. We have a reservation over spring break at Ft. Wilderness but looking to do something a little different on this trip. We're trying to find a good natural spring to visit and camp at on the way to/from Disney within a couple hours drive or so. I'd like to find something south of Lake City but north of say Ocala to spend a couple days. We have been to one (who's name escapes me, but I do remember a crazy TALL scary bridge we had to cross on the way there, I wanna say somewhere in Ocala NF) once. It was okay, but I think we're looking to try a different one. Manatee Springs SP looks nice, as doe
  23. Thankfully we've never experienced noise from pets while at the Fort...even though we've seen several pets in campers in the loops we've stayed at.
