  1. Wait a minute! No Yuri? I bet Maria smuggled him on board.
  2. For dinner tonight, we had Crockpot Freezer Salsa Chicken. Our official review is, it was okay. We can only have high salicylate foods (like tomatoes, berries, oranges, etc.) once a week due to chemical sensitivites. This was not worth it, for us. It was fine, just rather tasteless. I used mild salsa, so maybe that made a difference. I only cooked one bag of it, so that was about 4 chicken breasts for the 8 of us. To add bulk (and fill up my hungry crew), I served it with rice, tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa, and salad with ranch dressing.
  3. Dinner tonight wasn't quite a freezer to crockpot meal, as I had to add spices, since I had frozen it before learning of doing the prep before freezing. I put a pork roast in the crockpot and coated it with spices (salt, pepper, oregano, and cumin), threw half and onion cut in four pieces on top (did that the other day and froze it) and cooked it on low all day. Around 4:00pm, I fork shred it then let it cook more in the juices it had made. Served it with rice, toritllas, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. My children applauded. :)
  4. I always make my rice separately in my rice cooker. I just measure it out in the morning after I get the crock going, then set the delay timer so it is ready about 10 minutes before we plan to eat. This works esp. well for brown rice. I have never tried to cook rice in my crockpot.
  5. Rita, I can relate about the chicken breasts. I was standing in Bi-Lo the other day counting out chicken breasts so i could get the 24 I needed. The other shoppers looked at me like I was crazy! LOL
  6. I mad the Savory Vegetable Beef Soup form this page for dinner yestaerday: http://melissafallistestkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/09/freezer-cooking-slow-cooker-meals.html I did not freeze it first because I wanted to try it right away, plus my freezer is FULL! I prepped a sausage skillet meal, plus Hawaiian Chicken Sandwiches and Salsa Chicken. We are scheduled to have the Salsa Chicken tomorrow. I have yet to decide if i will just cook one bag in teh crockpot and add lots of sides for my crew, or cook both bags. Oh, the soup was good. The three children I asked rated it a 7 out of 10, which i
  7. Not working for me either. Have fun!!
  8. Hate to add a serious note to a very good hijack, but Ultima Replenisher also makes electrolyte replacing flavored packets you can add to water. The advantage to theirs is that they contain no petro-chemicals made from crude oil. The consumption of petro-chemicals has been linked to decreases in self-control, esp. in children. So if you don't want that late day meltdown in the middle of WDW, avoid the petro-chemicals!!
  9. I don't know if it would be an option for you, but staying at the Fort during off season is really nice. I was there early November and loved it! I can't tell you what it meant to my children to get to play kickball with Chip and Dale while my dh set up the campsite. Now, that isn't a usual thing, but it is just the kind of pixie dust you hear about happening at FW. Praying you have a wonderful trip!
  10. We do have a Sam's Club and a Costco. However, since we don't eat any foods with petroleum (crude oil) in them, we can't buy much from those places. BJ's Wholesale Club had more that we could buy, but they closed the one near us. :-(
  11. That it will spend time at an unsafe temp and cause foodborne illness. . However, i have done this many, many times and never had a problem with it.
  12. As you wish.http://www.ringaroundtherosies.net/2012/04/more-freezer-cooking-meals-part-3.html http://www.six-cents.com/2012/06/crockpot-freezer-cooking-101.html http://melissafallistestkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/09/freezer-cooking-slow-cooker-meals.html
  13. Ok, I mentioned this on the "What's for Dinner?" thread and was encouraged to start a new thread. The other day, i was wasting time on Pinterest, as saw the idea of Crockpot freezer meals. The idea similar to Once a Month cooking, but MUCH easier. You put all the ingredients for crockpot meal in a ziplock bag, all chopped and prepped, and freeze it. Then, when you want tthat meal, you just pull that bag out of the freezer, and dump the contents in the crockpot. Some people don't like to put frozen food in the crockpot, so they put the bag in the fridge the night before. Others, who are fi
  14. They have to be cute to get away with being that obnoxious.
  15. My favorite was a quote a friend made at girl scout camp many years ago, "Why wash your underwear when it is just going to get dirty again?"
  16. No, my obnoxious crew would start making comments like, "Why do we need underwear?" "Does yesterdays count? I have it in my pocket. I planned to wear it on my head later."
  17. Since I have only been to WDW twice with the children, and we only did one park, one day both times, we go commando. I mean we try to ride every single ride. We wear underwear. At least, I hope we all do. I don't do a check or anything. Anyway, I plan and plan to try to make sure we will be able to do all the rides we want at least once. Going off-season is much better for that. But these days, i would be happy enough just to camp at the Fort and hang with Fiends.
  18. If i get my rear to FL, the last thing on my mind will be shopping. I will be too busy hugging fiends and relaxingat the Fort, Lord willing. But for now, it is great to have a place to keep in touch. :D
  19. I checked two in my area, and they do not offer it. I did not mention that i was homeschooler, so it seems they don't offer any teacher discount.
  20. I think they had to make the signs more "poltically correct". :-(
  21. I always think of the wonderful memories you are capturing for your self and your children (and eventually grandchildren) for years to come. Scottish men are the only ones manly enough to wear kilts. Also, the only good thing i can think to say about BBQ eel is that it means the eel is dead. Eels look like snakes. There is emnity between me and snakes. It's Biblical.
  22. My boys watched it last night. Th yonger ones (9 & 11) liked it, though they don't like the style of animation. I will ask the older boys (13 & 15) what they thought when they get back from Bible Study.
