As far as getting through bag check without kids seeing, if you have another adult, I would suggest having one adult being the designated bag carrier who goes through bag check, while the other adult takes the kids through the no bag area.

I believe the meat tornado is called schawarma. It is a mix of meats cooked on a vertical spit. Why do i know this? Because at the end of the movie, "The Avengers", Tony Stark says he wants schwarma. When I went to Paris with my parents, somehow I got separated from them at the Arc de Triomphe. I was on the sidewalk on the outside of the traffic circle and they were below the Arch inside the circle. So I walked across the street. My mother nearly had a heart attack. Turns out, there is an underground path pedestrians are supposed to use. Oops. The lady in your picture from Starbucks looks like someone I know. I wonder if she was in Paris the same time as you.

Two days.

My parents took me to Paris for four days when I was 16. The itinerary for the trip was see as much as possible in as short a time as possible. Maybe that is part of the reason I don't want to go back to France? But the snotty people were definitely part of it. We did spend most of one day at Versailles. That was the best part of the trip, in my opinion. That and my mother being terrified on the Eiffel Tower since she is terrified of heights, but insisted on going up because it is the touristy thing to do.
