  1. Good thing Lou doesn't read trip reports! I know he has posted a few comments after stumbling onto this thread by accident. But we know he doesn't read TR's because he said so. Lou wouldn't fib to us, would he?? O:-)
  2. I'm afraid i am going to lecture a little more. I grew up with my mother getting skin cancer spots burned off her - a couple every six months or so. She is still having ones burned off, 30 years later. My father in law went to get some cut out of his ear today.Skin cancer is a very real danger. Your daughters are soo pretty. I pray this will never be necessary for them. OK, I have jumped off my soapbox. Can't wait for the next update!
  3. I too would like to know which two months are not TCD's favorite months to visit WDW. My guess is that August is one. Maybe April is the other, due to the high number of Spring Breaks visitors?
  4. Thanks for the update (and a half, including the phone charger info). It was worth the wait!
  5. Can't wait to see Fantasyland photos. I am hoping the next installment will be some time tomorrow. May be I should cancel my plans for the day and sit and wait...
  6. Ok, I fell for that hook, line and sinker. I called my big cat loving son over to show him. I think he doubted it right away, but hid his doubt from his mom. Oh, and "Aye" - I want to see some 'stache photos as well. I also would enjoy a vintage TR from the great TCD, so we can all vicariously re-live the old days. :D
  7. If and when I ever make it to WDW and The Fort again, i want to hire TCD to take me on an early morning walk. We can bring a few of my quieter rugrats along as chaperones. Or maybe we can get TCD to write a short self-guided tour. Now that would be cool!
  8. Way to go, Discamper! This thread is not only informative and amusing, but has gotten lots of newbies involved! Here is my helpful advice: When traveling with many young campers, it is very helpful to dress them all in the same color shirt each day. It makes spotting the one who is wandering off much easier. If you dress in the same color as well, helpful stranger will point out the wanderer to you. Before we leave, I decide what color shirt we will wear each day. I then coordinate each persons outfits for the whole trip. (Yes, annoying, but it saves time later and also avoids red shorts
  9. So, you went to the Fort last year and watched the Gators play B-ball, and they lost. And the same thing happened this year? Maybe you better not watch next year. I'm just sayin'. But don't stop going to the Fort, because TCD TR's are the best!!
  10. Well, you have finished this report. Doesn't that mean it is time for another trip? maybe for St. Paddy's Day Seriously, thank you for bringing us along. It has been a great Leap Day!
  11. I have posted most of my favorite slow cooker recipes on my blog: http://memoirable.blogspot.com/2009/05/crockpot-recipes.html http://memoirable.blogspot.com/2008/11/overnight-beans.html Another favorite is Chili Con Carne. I make this on saturday, then put the crockpot on to heat through before we leave for Church on Sunday morning. We often bring company home for lunch after church and enjoy this with cornbread. Chili con Carne Ingredients:  3 pounds ground beef  3 cups chopped onions  3 cloves garlic, crushed  3 16-ounce cans diced tomatoes  2 cups chopped green peppers  4.5 cups of
  12. Now I've had a bedtime story, complete with pictures of the EWP, which I have never seen, but understand it is not to be missed next time I am at the Fort. Now I can go and have a nice nap with lovely dreams of WDW! Thanks, TCD!!
  13. The time change has thrown me for a loop. Also, possibly, I tried to do too much this weekend. So now I am tired and starting to get a cold. I really should go take a nap. But TCD says he is about to post another update. Today, my children are going to learn about the importance of correctly prioritizing your time. Because I am staying up to read a TCD update. Wouldn't you?
  14. Still loving this TR, even though it makes me sad to realize all the rides/attractions at MK I haven't done yet. It is the only park I have been to, so our next trip (whenever that may be), I have promised the kids we will do Epcot. But no place makes me feel like a little kid again like MK. :) Looking forward to another update soon!
  15. I am loving this trip report. Lots of cool info, like weather vanes and boat names. Excellent pics and colorful commentary. Thank you for sharing your joy with us!
  16. Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! Anoterh TCD TR! What a great way to start the week!
  17. First trip, we stayed at friends house, spent one day at apark. Second trip, we stayed 5 days at the Fort and spent one day at a park. Not everyone's idea of a great vacation, but my children loved it.
  18. More details annd more pictures please. I REALLY don't want to have to join Pinterest just to learn how to do these. One more thing on the web to absorb my time and my children will have to educate themselves.
  19. Personally, I love, love, love the 1500 loop. When we stayed in 1506, we were only a short walk from the comfort station, plus just close enough (but not too close) to the bus stop. Also, 1500 is close to the pool, the campfire, and the Meadows Trading post. I would send a fax to reservations about 5-7 days before you are due to arrive. Let them know the dimensions of the tent and your preferences. I found that worked just fine. Here is a copy of what i faxed them, with my personal information removed. The fax# for the Fort is: 407-824-3508 November 3, 2010 TO: Ft. Wilderness Resort and Ca
  20. Educate me - why not just buy regular pasta, instead of buying ramen and throwing out the spice packet? We eat a LOT of pasta here (usually twice a week) with just butter and spices. Cheap and easy - almost all my children know how to cook and drain pasta by themselves.
