  1. If you head downtown be sure and eat in Little Italy. Paesano's is our go to place to eat in the city. The food is very good and it's pretty inexpensive. Never had a bad meal there. You will see someone from each restaurant outside the establishments trying to hand you menus, just keep on moving until you hit Paesano's on Mullbery. Nice bottle of wine and your all set. Enjoy your trip! http://www.paesanosoflittleitaly.com/index.html You can shop for good designer knock off's while you're downtown, (an adventure in it'self, lol! but don't let my NYPD son know I told you, he kinda frowns u
  2. Was there four years ago Jersey week. Mind you, I had never even heard of Jersey week before that. I found out pretty quick what was going on. For me personally, I would not visit during that time period again. Not the best Disney experience we've had.
  3. Count me as one of those Carol. I'm a coffee drinker, (dark, no sugar), that being said,I don't care for Starbucks at all. Way to strong for me. Thanks to TCD, I enjoyed the report (as always), and we too enjoyed the Mermaid ride in the new Fantasyland. Really brought me back to when the movie came out on "video" and my then four year old daughter wanted to name her future sibling "Ariel". When she found out she was going to have a brother, she burst into tears and cried for two days!, The ride brings back great memories of the movie and simplier times. I like it. I also enjoyed your review
  4. :fairydust: Wishing you happy travels and good times at the Fort!
  5. Have fun!...and by the way, we had a great time on the cruise! :wave1: Thanks for all your help!
  6. Tikiman's site is reporting it's DVC going into the Poly..that's why the balloons were there. If true..and it likely is, the Poly better step up it's game. We were there for a couple of days prior to our cruise and were really disappointed. Room was not in great shape. AC was God awful. Was incredibly loud, and insult to injury..never cooled the darn room. Had to call mousekeeping back to clean our room, as it hadn't been vacuumed or dusted. When you can write your initials on the wood furniture..that's dusty! Turned out later that night the sink didn't drain. We were kind of disgusted, given
  7. We're back! :wave1: Loved the cruise! Had such a lovely, relaxing time. Cast-away Cay was beautiful. Really enjoyed that day. First we plopped ourselves in Serenity Bay. After a bike ride we decided it was just too quiet and remote. Hopped a tram back to the family beach, near the snorkeling. Loved lying on the beach and seeing the Ship. Not to mention the the BBQ, music and shopping! As for the Bahamas,, personally I wouldn't get off the boat again for that experience. Hmm..my husband said it reminded him of Manhattan, "pre-Gulianni". Times Square then was a cesspool. Nothing like the touris
  8. Let me ask this..we are sailing on the Magic. Are there any shows or entertainment on board that anyone would recommend?
  9. Thanks Cherie! :doodebug: I'm glad to see we're not alone in our thinking. :fork: We were able to secure a reservation for Palo brunch for our "at sea day"..which I believe is day three. I think it's around 11 am. Looking forward to it! Figured we would enjoy the brunch, and we wouldn't miss out on any of the dinner dining rotations. Oh..and I also reserved a couple of bikes for the Castaway Cay day. :wave1:
  10. LOL! I'm laughing because I think you read our minds! :rofl3: After reseraching and mulling over a half dozen opotions, I just last night, said to Bob "would you mind if we didn't have anything planned for Nassau?" With a great sigh of relief he replied "I'd actually prefer it!" :highfive: You are so right TCD. It's a short cruise.(four night) It's our first, and we hope to explore the ship and take advantage of it being a little emptier. :waycool: So..there ya go. We are not gamblers, no real desire to go to the casino. Although tempted to see Atlantis, neither of us is feeling the slides. A
  11. Good to know. I figured we would want to make a few calls to the kids and work before we left port. I hope they are able to spot us! :wave1: Thanks. Then... three days without speaking to my kids...WOW...I don't think I've ever done that!
  12. Quick question..... While you're in port in fla, any issues using your cell phone when on ship that day..prior to sailing out?...Or should we shut them off even while in port. I've read some horror stories regarding charges.
  13. Two weeks from today! :wave1: (but who's counting?..lol!)
  14. We did this years ago when our kids were younger. We enjoyed it. I thought the character interaction was good too. They came out quite a few times and everyone had a chance to get their photos and autographs. By the end of the evening they just danced around with the crowd. It was a good time .I especially think it's a good option for those with younger kids who won't "sit" through an entire meal, as there is plenty of room for little ones to get up and move around. Looks like you all had fun! :wiz:
  15. I think I have it covered. I have some dressier events coming up this summer, as my daughter is engaged to be married this fall. So, I figured why not buy a few new things? We have reservations for the Palo brunch on our "sea day". Looking forward to it. I also noticed that the Hilton has a program where you can spend the day. Use the pool and the beach and they give you a coupon for lunch or drinks. Sounds relaxing.
  16. I have GOT to go buy some clothes. :panic: Kind of kills me though. Two things..I've gained a ton of weight this year. Thank you again, menopause. Add to that my working more, cooking less, (or hardly at all these days).., and I feel like a horse! You ladies might relate. You guys..probably could care less. Looks like I'm gonna have to break down and hit the store. Oh...and diet of course! How much weight do you think it's possible to loose in 23 days? :rofl2: ..Nahh, probably still won't get me comfortably into last years summer clothes! :faceplant2: I only ask about the jacket, as they d
  17. Thanks Jen, we will be sure to look for it. I'm wondering just how dressed you have to be for dinners? We do have a Palo reservation but it's for brunch during our "at sea" day. I mean..we're not "slobolas" or anything..but do I really need to pack a jacket for the hubby? ..at the same time we wouldn't want to feel out of place. Also wondering what some of you who have done this trip would recommend for an excursion in the Bahamas? I'm leaning toward some type of sight seeing..rather than Atlantis..but the aquarium does sound nice, possibly the shallow water dolphin experience?? I'm all over
  18. :stars-shower-smiley: Just wanted to mention that we are going on our first cruise. It will be on the Magic April 30th for four nights :wiz: Our favorite Fort Fiend travel agent Rhonda helped us make our cruise arrangements. :wave1:
  19. :wave1: Love the Flower and Garden photos! Bob and I hope to be in Epcot enjoying the sights of Flower and Garden April 28th. I've been to Flower and Garden before, but was with the family at the time. The kids had no desire to linger and look at all the wonderful topiaries. I'm especially looking forward to going back. Can I ask Jen, where exactly is the butterfly house? I know Bob will want to be taking photos there. (We have more pictures of bugs than family members. :faceplant2: He says he likes it that way, lol!) I might also add that we are going on our very first Cruise
  20. <P> So it's still complimentary..just not delivered to your door?...Jeeze for the Deluxe room rates they ought to bring it with free pot of coffee and a croissant.
  21. I've seen the junior suites at the WL when my mom and sister stayed in one with the kids a few years back. The balcony was awful, you couldn't see over it unless you were standing as it had a stone front. Even then you were looking straight into the trees. The view was obstructed by the tress and foilage that had grown. If I were choosing a room for the extra space, I'd go with a Polynesian room in Tokelau (it's one of the original buildings and the rooms are larger). You have the two queen beds and then a very spacious sofa bed. (similair to the jack knifes in RV's..but wider and longer. It i
  22. For us something to consider when choosing a deluxe resort as opposed to a moderate would be the balcony. We like the extra outdoor space to enjoy morning coffee or a drink in the evening. Good people watching too! Gives us additional space. Not sure if that was included in the driveway computations? Also..while the WL and the AKL are considered deluxe they are not as large as say a room at the Poly. Being one of the older resorts the Polynesian rooms are larger than the rooms in other Deluxes. A room in the Tokelau building at the Polynesian is significantly larger than those at the WL. The P
  23. I saw this for the first time this year. Bob and I managed a quick four day get away, and decided to go to Hollywood Studios since it was some 46 degrees in florida that evening!..So much for a few days we planned to spend at the beach. LOL! It was actually warmer here in NY than it was in Florida that day. In any case...The lights were quite beautiful. Very nice crowd, it's continuous from dusk to closing. We were there for the initial lighting for the evening which was nice to see. After that we headed over to Epcot for the Candelight processional. Also enjoyable.
  24. I've read the same thing..to make photo copies of your tickets, and then they could be replaced if you lost them. I don't think there is much you can do otherwise. I do hope the ticket turns up.
