  1. Thanks so much for sharing your photos - its getting me reved up for Christmas this year!
  2. So funny - respect bump for your time and effort.
  3. I never heard of this before - really incredible. Do you think a couple could get the same bang for their buck out of the program? This would be an amazing thing for my husband and I to do together. We could send my kids to my parents RV - put the Dog in the kennel overnight and do all the tours Ive ever wanted to do. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. It is there - My kids love it also - TCD had some great photos of his puppy playing teatherball with kids at the fort in loop 1500. Good times. I love 1500 - so close to the Pool!
  5. I pull my kids out of School for two weeks to go to Fort Wilderness in October - and I make no excuses for it. It will be the second time I have done it. My kids are hardworking students with excellent grades. The teachers started to give me a hard time when I announced I was doing it in 2009 but I was prepared - I knew my state laws. See my daughters school had made up their own rules - and those rules did not agree with the State laws. If they don?t agree with the state laws - they can threaten all they like, but those rules don?t mean jack. My sister is an attorney who home schools a
  6. My kids love the main pool - I think they could stay there all day.
  7. I wasn't there - It could have been "TheBird" for all I know - bawhahaha - It's one of those moments I just can't take back ya know. If had been there instead of cruzing around on my trycycle - (yes - thats what I rock at the Fort) - then perhaps I would have my ribbon. Instead - all I have is this: I keep it above the toilet in my guest bathroom. Like I said - Its lovely - I know they were trying to be nice - but I wanted to win for my effort - not be disqualified for some unknown reason. SO I want to go in with a plan to win this time. Do you think my home made decorations just can't
  8. Ive never been to St Augustine - so I can't really help you compare and contrast but the Fort is just such an amazing place if you are going to do Disney. We have stayed at the Poly, Contemporary and CBR before finding the Fort and theres just no comparing the Fort experience to the hotels. When you wake up at the Fort you set your own pace. I feel like when I wake up the hotels there is this pressure - an overwhelming pressure to get out the door. When I wake up I feel like there are Snow whites dwarves singing in my ears - - - - - HI HO! . . . . HI HO!!!! HI HO OFF to the parks we go -
  9. I am a sucker for Space Mountain - It was the first Disney ride I ever went on in Japan - and I have loved it in any of the parks ever since - yes - its lame - but I still Love it.
  10. OK - two years ago - I was disqualified from the Halloween site decorating contest - no reason given. The CM's came by the site - gave my husband a (lovely) snow globe for my effort but told me that I would not be allowed to compete for the prize. Unfortunately I was not at the site at the time or I would have pressed for more information (i.e. blown a fit, cried like a baby). I don't want no stinking snow globe - I want the Ribbon. In your experience - what has the winning site had that the judges really admire. Is it the Disney elements? Is it the scare factor? Special effects? Thank
  11. What a great tip Avatab - I have to turn my parents onto those podcasts. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Welcome! I have to check out this RV.net place - people do seem to be finding us from there.
  13. Welcome Jay and Paula - Do you know each other - or did you inadvertantly end up on the same thread? Anyway - we are so happy to have you here the best place on the internet to gather meaningful information about Fort Wilderness and make new fiends.
  14. Hello Disney Dog Fans - Below is a photo of our first puppy - she is a Boston Terrior / Pitbull mix. She is a good dog - but I know she is going to need socialization lessons. What is the first step? Its the dead of winter here - we don't have and dog parks. Our puppy gets its last round of shots on Friday and I want to make sure she is good with other dogs so we dont have any problems when we go to Disney this Fall.
  15. I'm throwing caution to the wind - we went right after Christmas in 2008 - it was nice - not crazy - this year - Christmas at the Fort - Were doing it! We will have annual passes though.
  16. So was it "worth it" - Bahahahahaha I'm just kidding of course - Beautiful pictues - thanks so much for sharing!
  17. I went there as an exchange student 20 years ago - it was actually the first Disney theme park I ever went to. My memories of the experience are very vague - it was hot - very hot (I am still sunburn) and crowded. It is alot like our Disney theme parks actually - more closey modeled after California. If you are going to go all the way to Japan - Don't do it for Disney. Head north - Go into the country - see the real mountains - take in the culture. I can remember being the tallest person in the line for space mountain that went on for three hours. I was probably too young to really enjoy
  18. My husband was in the army / national guard - I wonder if we can do that?
  19. You really are an inspiration to us all - I hope we get to meet your family this Christmas!
