With teens, I'd pick the HDDR.
It's weird to me people think the food quality at HDDR is better though. The ribs, beans, bread, salad, and maybe more are the same as the BBQ.

And aren't they the same at Trail's End?

Looks like they have made some upgrades since we stayed there.

The only thing they frown upon is pets in tents.
I thought they don't allow pets in pop-ups either.

You can take the bus from Settlement to Wilderness Lodge (or drive your ECV over to Wilderness Lodge on the path), then take the bus from Wilderness Lodge to MK. It is fully accessible and runs very early in the morning.
Thanks for the info, Carol.

Is your reservation pre-park opening? Is that why you can't take the MK boat?
I don't know what time the ferries and monorails begin to run exactly, but I would think it's an hour before park opening. But how are you going to get to the TTC?
TCD
Our reservation is for an hour before park opening. We'll have a rental car, so we can drive to TTC.

Since I have to use an ECV, I would be willing to pay Disney for special transportation under certain circumstances. On our upcoming trip we have early morning ADRs at Crystal Palace. I'm not sure how we're gonna get there. Does anyone know what time the ferry from TTC starts operating? Or the monorail?

Had blood tests run last week ... 15 vials of blood. My doctor saw something unusual in my clotting factor and had her assistant call me today to say I have to go back on Xarelto for the trip. Have a consultation with doctor next Wednesday.
I'm disappointed that I have to go back on the medicine but relieved that I'll be protected during the trip.

I have a grill cover for mine too. Doesn't blow off in wind. We have a plug in one of our bays that I plug mine into to charge.

We were trying to get one of those sites for our trip next year but they were all booked up. I imagine those go pretty quick.
Question about that site - Did you guys get much noise from the rental houses behind you? That was my one concern with that row.
Those sites are difficult to reserve. Yes, they do go quick. I've tried to get a site on that row 18 months in advance and still not been able to get one.
We usually go in the spring or fall, and those houses are usually empty. So no noise. Don't know what they are like in the summer.

I like cement pads too. For us Ocean Lakes was just to packed in (we drove through it when staying at Pirateland last year). I agree with you on booking a specific site... I always prefer that.
Here's us at Ocean Lakes:
Parts of the campground aren't packed in ... you just need to know which sites to reserve.

On a more positive note, all complimentary Kungaloosh mugs for guests staying in the 3000 loop will still have 2 handles and, as always, the sippy cup lids.
Does it include free refills for length of stay?

Gabe has had two official offers. But it will be about a year before the serious offers arrive since he's an upcoming junior. Meanwhile, he has 20+ coaches talking to and watching him, including Clemson, University of Georgia, Florida. And one of the coaches from an official offer texts him every single day.
Meanwhile his mom and the kids are moving back to SC so Gabe and Ethan can play at Dorman High School in Spartanburg. They are a powerhouse. -
We've never eaten at Rainforest Cafe. Always thought it would be neat to try, but after your comments I think we'll keep passing on it!

It isn't really getting there any faster if David spends the first week or two staying with you in the hospital and at the MH while you convalesce afterwards. Besides there's nothing much more boring than hospital TV and watching the people walk by the door out in the hall.
Good point. If he resists again, I'll tell him what you said.

Do yall stop at campgrounds or places like Crackle Barrels and such. Maybe you can make it a fun part of the trip down. Look for places you've wanted to visit or have something to do in the evening. Stop in time to go have a meal at a restaurant you might not have at home, or watch the sunset, a campground with activities, something that interest David, just something to get you out of the MH for an hour or more. Might help break up the trip and make stops not a dreaded thing.

We always overnight at Cracker Barrel or Flying J. Easy off/on 95. Have at least one sit-down meal each travel day. Pretty much nothing to see/do along our route. We won't have a toad, so no exploring. But Flying J is entertainment in itself.
Thanks for the suggstions!

Hi Gwen. As a retired person with some medical background, let me assure you that you are NOT being unreasonable with your request for frequent rest stops. The condition you reported is not merely painful or uncomfortable, it can lead to very serious complications if not managed correctly. It seems your physician has given you a treatment plan to follow, and I encourage you to follow it carefully. Have your spouse talk with the Doc. if necessary. It does not matter how the rest of the Fiends travel to the Fort, what matters is that you arrive safely and can enjoy your time there.
Safe travels, PghBob
Thank you. David is slowly realizing I'm not gonna change my mind on this issue. Yes, we will be bored overnighting twice on the way down. But I'm just not willing to take a chance on a repeat situation.
I am, however, discouraged by how long some of the Fiends drive. I don't want this to happen to anyone else!

I'm the same way. I always remind my wife, the vacation starts once the camper is hitched up, and it ends when its back in the barn safely unhitched.
I feel the same way too.

One rumor is that DreamLights from Tokyo will be coming to the MK. That's great with me. I just watched it on YouTube, and it seems to be an update of MSEP with the same music.
-
We are big MSEP fans. So glad we have one more trip to experience it.

Super cute!

She is really talented!

Congratulations!

We always stop at that one, too! Maybe we'll see you some day. ;-)
We plan to be there early afternoon on October 6.

How about not having a full tank of gas in the RV for the start of the trip? Plan out where you want to stop to fill up and say, you know since we have to get gas anyways, why don't we stop at this park and have a nice lunch.
David always keeps the tank full, and we can go around 1,000 miles before having to refuel. But we usually stop once on the way down for fuel anyway (whichever state is cheapest at the time) and then refuel on the way home at the last Flying J we pass -- Rock Hill, SC.
What are your driving limits per day?

Last year I got sick a week or two after we got home. Or that's when I first had symptoms. It was awful. Never want to go through that again! I'm anxious about what my doctor will tell me on Wednesday.
