DD(7th grade) qualified for the Duke TIP program. (Duke  Talent identification program). Only two other kids at her school qualified.   She will taking no the ACT this December or February.

I know Duke is an ACC school but it looks like a good program. lol.

Btw. Does anyone have any experience with the Duke TIP?

No real experience, but I've heard great things about this program.  And what's wrong with an ACC school?  ;)

  2. LOL ... try feeding these guys:

    JoElfKt.jpg

Left -- Caden, 11 years old, not sure of his height but I'm 5'6" and he's nearly as tall as me.  Serious athlete (currently being recruited by Adidas, wants to be better than Gabe), and he eats nonstop.

Center -- Gabe, 18, 6'9", serious athlete (recently signed with a D1 school, full ride plus an additional food allowance and stipend), he's finished his meal before I take my first bite and he's hungry again an hour later.

Right -- Ethan, 16, 6'4",  semi athlete (enjoys, but doesn't want to follow in Gabe's footsteps), takes his time to savor every bite but still is always hungry.

I feel sorry for their mother.  She has to cook for an army every day.  Their weekly grocery bill is unreal.

The Plaza Restaurant better close their doors before these guys enter.

    New! 45th Anniversary Benefits

From now through December 23, 2017, as a Walt Disney World Passholder, enjoy 20% discounts at 45 select dining locations.

looks like the selected 20% off AP dining has been extended!!  woohoo

Does anyone have a list of the 45 restaurants?  We haven't bought our new APs yet, so I don't have access to the list.  Thanks!

  4. Back in the '80s we had a TT and the kids were young.  We packed lots of deli meats, cheese, and snacks in the fridge for meals on the road.

Now that it's just the two of us and we have a Class A diesel pusher, we frequent Cracker Barrels for meals since we usually overnight there.  Still pack snacks -- nuts, protein bars, soft drinks.  The night before we arrive at the Fort we stop at the Pilot/Flying J in St. Augustine and usually get burgers at Denny's.  Leave there around 4:30 am, drive to the Fort, and have breakfast at Trail's End while we're waiting for our site assignment.

Gwen- there's an article about the Mission Space updates on the Disney Parks Blog: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2017/07/mission-space-relaunches-aug-13-with-brand-new-experiences/

Here's what it says about the new Green mission:

Or, embark on the more family-friendly Green Mission – a new mission that takes you on an exciting orbit around Earth. On this amazing new adventure, you’ll take in sites like the Hawaiian Islands, Italy’s “boot” and the Northern Lights—as seen from space, of course—before finally landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. No matter which mission you choose, it’ll be a journey that’s totally out of this world.

Thanks for the info!  I'll try to talk David into trying it again.

That's a no on this trip.

In between what a PITA Photobucket has become and the lack of interest and responses to the last trip report I posted, I decided to not bother with taking as many photos as I typically do on trips.  I ended up enjoying the trip a lot more, and, honestly, I'm glad that I don't have a report to write now.

    TCD

I totally sympathize.  For our longer trips I spend hundreds of hours writing my trip reports, and it's really disheartening when I feel like only a handful of people read them.
