  1. Sounds awesome! For pulling and turning, I was told that you watch the trailer wheels on the inside. Once they pass whatever obstruction there is- you can then safely turn as sharp as you need to. It was really helpful for me to learn when I could turn. It becomes natural after a while. Otherwise, for practice in a parking lot, I never wanted to spend the money on a 100 traffic cones or even soccer field markers. Someone said to take a few gallons of water and red solo cups. Fill them a little to give them ballast and they won't blow over/away. If you run over a few, no harm, no foul
  2. Thanks TCD for sharing my post. We have been to Disney a few times now with friends and while we haven't ever been assigned an actual "buddy" site, as long as Disney gets you two side-by-side, you should be fine. There isn't a shared area at any of them. We like the 800 loop and the sites around 860. They're fairly spacious and you get a decent amount of space. We also did sites in the 1300s and had a super deep site there. It was nice when we had a few friends (3 families, 12 people) over to hang out for an evening. We took our truck up to the overflow parking and really had a nice
  3. Here it is: Central Florida fire ban - all Disney sponsored campfires are cancelled.
  4. I'm impressed by the Fort's response to the situation. Sad there's not better communication, but looks like they hit a home run with trying to make do. I'm over at the Contemporary and there was a note in the room about the burn ban and all Disney camp fires are cancelled. I can see why the boat captain said what he did based on how the wording was. I'll snap a picture later today.
  5. Maybe this one? I feel like I'm picking some fairly easy ones...
  6. Thanks for the kind words and yes, that's exactly it. We went to the Luau back in January for the first time. We enjoyed the show. So, anyone else have one? Looking back on January pictures, I didn't take anything specifically for this thread...
  7. This will have a limited audience, but to revive the thread..
  8. We really liked both Flamingo Lake and Kathyrn Hannah Abby which are both in Jacksonville. Camp Gulf was painfully expensive but really nice. Especially being right on the beach (no pets allowed). Even Peace River in Zolofo Springs, FL was nice. There were some nice things around, but it was a pretty quiet stay for us (early April). I have friends who really like Three Flags in Wildwood, FL. Peach River, Three Flags, and the TT Orlando (towards Clermont) location are all Thousand Trails parks. I don't know if you're a member or not.
  9. We did this for my son. Worked a treat. We also found that my son could push the screen out. We put a piece of Plexiglass into the door so that the load was spread out.
  10. Oh man, how could you ever survive in such a big camper?! I mean, my 42' fifth wheel is about as big as I want to go. (sarcasm- I'd consider up to 44'). We've stayed on 600, 800, and 1300. 1326 was probably the biggest site I've been on. Great angle for backing in. Even 600 wasn't bad- my wife was mute from a recent surgery and we were able to do it via translations from my then 12-year old daughter. 800 were a little tight and came down to lack of vehicles in the way; but we just did it in the dark (which is a huge rarity for us). We have friends who love the 400 loop. Basicall
  11. I made limoncello with the Instant Pot. So far I've made 3 batches- with gain alcohol (Everclear), rum, and vodka. My preference is vodka, rum, Everclear. My wife's is vodka, Everclear, rum. We did a tasting of the rum + vodka at a rally and it was a pretty good split of which people preferred. https://www.copymethat.com/r/mbsIzjp/instant-pot-limoncello/
  12. These are really cute. A bunch of years back, my wife designed her own Jams that were Disney-inspired. They were cute but because you had to watch for trademark infringement, it wasn't directly Disney. Now that Disney and Jamberry got together, the new ones are really cool!
  13. I think it's beneficial. I don't have APs now but that's because I am leaving Florida with no plans on returning for at least a year. However, once I use my DVC membership- I'll almost definitely have tickets of some sort (unless we go to Hawaii).
  14. I don't know where anything is, but we stayed at I-75 RV Park in Tifton, GA. It is a tiny little no frills park that is literally right off of the highway (like I could have throw rocks to the exit ramp). But the staff member I dealt with was super friendly and the price was right.
  15. I'm glad for the DVC party. Our APs expired. We've moved down the road and are in Alabama these days. But we were able to line up a doctor appointment for my wife for today here in Orlando and are surprising the kids with the DVC party. I'm mostly excited for the rare character meet and greets. Is anyone else going?
  16. That's a good point- people do really ship things differently to the Fort versus a lot of other places. Though, a lot of snowbird parks in Florida get a constant onslaught of deliveries daily (think 20-50 packages a day at 2 different parks I was at this winter). I don't know where to draw the line. It's a tough one for sure. I absolutely understand the man hours and labor associated with a mailroom.
  17. A charge is reasonable, but I think $5 is excessive for small packages. $2 seems much more realistic and in-line with what I've seen at other RV resorts.
  18. If I was staying less than a week and got a cart, it would be a Disney cart. No hassle of pickup. And, if there's an issue - it's a lot easier to just swap one out.
  19. I agree with TCD and Carol- I didn't mean it as a bashing, just a statement. That said, if you're lucky enough for a long stay (our last was 2+ weeks), the cost savings is overwhelming. I posted to FB- I think a 4-person Disney cart was something like $1,100. The 6-person cart from Kenny for the same time person was $500 or so.
