  1. From the "other announcements" section of that same article: "Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Disney would expand its policy against characters smoking across its properties, including Marvel. Exceptions would be made for historical characters." I'm curious what characters smoke now and will have to stop. And which historical characters can still smoke. Any ideas?
  2. Anyone seen McFarland, USA? I saw it with my 3 teenage sons, two of whom are runners. It was enjoyable but nothing exceptional. I probably liked it more than they did although they didn't dislike it. Very feel good. Family friendly. Fairly slow paced compared to most movies. Too slow paced in some places. We thought it probably could have been a Disney channel movie. Based on a true story. http://movies.disney.com/mcfarland-usa
  3. How many people and are any of them very young or very old, and are you flying or driving? Not knowing that, I first agree with the idea of renting a popup - had a great experience with Fort Camper Rentals. But if you want to tent, unless the loaner is older I'd guess it's just a larger version of the backpacking tent you have. We have a couple of smaller tents and a couple of larger ones and they're all just the poles with stretchy cords inside that you put together and then you slide them through the side and top loops and criss cross them at the top of the tent and raise it. And then you
  4. I like it! I have literally thousands (tens of thousands?) of Lego pieces lying around after 3 boys who went through the Lego stage and each had to have their own sets for every gift giving occasion.
  5. I first looked at the thumbnails and saw the space between those wooden slats on the rope bridge and thought "no way!" Then I clicked on the picture and see there is rope bridge below the slats. I guess I should have known they wouldn't make it that risky. So now I would totally be ok with it. It looks like it was a lot of fun. Thanks for posting the pictures.
  6. For a family of more than 4 every time I've looked it's still the least expensive way to stay on WDW property. And the last time we stayed (Thanksgiving 2013) that included the cost of renting a pop up. Also still the best campground restrooms I've experienced.
  7. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm really enjoying reading it. I haven't traveled much but I'm fascinated by other cultures. And I'm beyond impressed that you took your two young boys with you. You have a beautiful family.
  8. The story of Anna and Jasmine, (almost) complete with pictures, is hysterical. Thank you for sharing it, and the other pictures of her and the rest of your family.
  9. I guess that makes the non-expiration tickets I bought right before the June 2013 increase worth even more. But it makes them more likely the last tickets I'll ever buy (or buy for a long long time; possibly we'll use them for a trip in 2016 and then not buy again until 2018+). Edited to add: Although my twins are going with their 8th grade class trip in May and I've been paying toward that since the Fall. I hope the cost doesn't go up. But I assume the school hasn't bought the tickets yet. Ugh.
  10. We always just asked for a cup of ice water at whatever stand we're near and been given one. We've done this at WDW, Carowinds and Busch Gardens Williamsburg in the past 5 years or so.
  11. I reported a bad bus driver to the front desk at POP after the same type of ride. My kids were small and I was terrified. That was back in 2009. Hope it wasn't the same driver.
  12. Does anyone know what exactly about it breaks down? It doesn't seem that complicated a ride. I mean not like a roller coaster.
  13. And if the jury is made up of certain Fiends, I'm pretty sure it's not out.
  14. "The jury is still out on the effectiveness of the “My Magic Plus” fast-past system enacted in an effort to combat overcrowding on key Disneyland attractions. " Huh?
  15. I feel it's worth it. I'm not a souvenir buyer. I buy a mug and maybe a pin, or two. Once back home I use the mug almost every day for tea (I have 4 mugs from 4 visits) and it reminds me of my trips. At WDW after drinking my morning beverage I stuff it with napkins and carry it in my trusty lightweight backpack. Also, you can bring it when you tour other resorts and fill them there. And at the bakery at the Boardwalk. If you go to a resort for lunch or dinner at Quick service you have it for your already paid for beverage. [i'm not sure if this is still controversial. According to disney fo
  16. Thanks for the excellent trip report. Before reading it I sort of wanted to go to Disneyland some day. Now I really really want to go to Disneyland some day soon. But I will skip the candy canes, which I don't really like anyway. I also don't like corndogs. But the other food looked good. A thought about your comparison of DL and WDW. I wonder if because WDW has 3 parks with minimum rides compared to DL more people buy parkhoppers and thus spend more $ on tickets for WDW. Those aren't all day parks (if one is mostly into the rides) but people still want to experience them. . And a piece of
  17. When my twins were almost 3 and my older son was 5 we took them to WDW for the first time without telling ahead of time. We just said we were going on a vacation and they didn't really care or ask where. They twins probably were too young to know anyway but older son's best friend had been and talked about it and we'd talked about going some day. We stayed overnight on the way and then just as we were approaching the WDW sign I was so excited and I asked older son if he wanted to go to WDW. And he answered "maybe some day, but not today." Surprise was on me. But once we arrived at All Star Mo
  18. The adorable pictures made me smile this morning. Love Anna/Elsa and Olaf. Also love barefooted Darth Vader. You are so lucky to have a kid that enjoys wearing costumes. Such fun for the Mom.
  19. I guess this really depends on your family. The first time we got a GAG it fed our family of 5 one good meal. The next time, two years later, my 3 boys were teenagers and looking for snacks immediately after we finished the GAG. At first I thought the portions must have been smaller. Then I realized the appetites were a lot bigger! Still the best deal on Disney property, though. Although we probably actually got our money's worth out of the Trails End buffet on that trip also.
  20. I would love for this line to be the summary of my next vacation. What a beautiful place you got to enjoy.
  21. Now it's time to say goodbye To all our company M-I-C, See you real soon K-E-Y, Why? Because we like you M-O-U-S-E
  22. Wow, you really know how to begin your vacation so you appreciate it when you get there. I'm someone who doesn't tow or carry anything outside my vehicle, and don't think I could manage it, so I'm amazed at the kayak mobile and your traveling home and garage. But my favorite part so far is imagining your son lowering the window on I-95 and the antler flying away. Looking forward to reading more.
  23. I'm imagining Rocky's trip report. "And then I sat and stared at a boring bridge for a long time and then finally we continued walking."
  24. Great photos. I can't wait to see this area some day! have to say that going to the first HP area a few years ago actually made me want to read the books. My kids had read them many times but I never had, nor seen the movies. After I read them, I had to go back the next year.
