  1. I've also noticed that when you (generalized 'you') discipline your children in a public setting, other parents tend to follow suit. It's almost like some parents are so afraid of being tagged a "helicopter" parent that they let their kids run wild, but then when they see that other parents are chewing their kids out they're less shy to do the same. I also agree 100% about thanking the parties who show manners. Last year I encountered such a polite young girl (probably 8/9) at a concession stand and I wanted to tell her parents how polite she was, but they were too far from me.
  2. We always stay in a cabin and have never had issues with other guests until last New Year's. We had checked in on Dec 21 and had a really quiet holiday until a large family of inconsiderate partiers checked in for NY's weekend. My husband wanted to confront them at one point, but since they were so incredibly obnoxious I was terrified that they'd pull out a gun or something (sorry, I'm Canadian, that's where my mind wonders when in the US!). They blasted loud obnoxious music from their pickup all night. Their teenage kid always looked so embarrassed that I felt bad for the poor kid. But
  3. We stay in a FW cabin every year and I can't say that I've paid much attention to the actual structure. Good to know!
  4. I'm sorry if this was discussed, maybe I missed it, but have they evacuated the cabins as well? If so why? I can see falling trees being a concern, but other than that the actual cabin structures should be secure right?
  5. Like everyone else I am in shock this morning about this. That poor child and his family. In all the years that we've been going to FW, with all the wildlife, it never once crossed my mind that there could be gators. I've always assumed that Disney keeps their properties free of dangerous animals. I guess I live in fairytale land. I really don't know much about them or their habits, so can anyone tell me if they ever come out of the water and onto land to attack? So long as my kids stay out of the water (which they always do) should they be safe? Someone mentioned staying away from the water a
  6. We've stayed in loop 2300 (Shawnee Bend) the past two years and have had no issues. It was close enough to everything and last year we had a renovated cabin.
