Andrew Roberts replied to VFLnSFD's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I always lock mine would rather not test the system with my stuff. better to be safe then sorry. And as much as we all love feeling safe at the fort. I have had thing walk away from my site and the parking lot up front. Alway remember not everyone there is on vacation -
Hoop-Dee-Do or Mickey's BBQ
Andrew Roberts replied to bamagradx2's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We have done both over the years. And have only gone back to the HDDR. We were very under impressed with the food quality of the BYBB. -
We did halloween the last 5 years and It really was not bad until the last 2 years. In all honesty last year people started to get pretty rude. We now know what it is like and may come back in a few years or if security gets sorted out. It really could blow up into a pretty bad situation very easily and you would be on your own to sort it out for some time before help could get in.

Looking For RV Info
Andrew Roberts replied to Discamper's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I had a KZ spree and loved It. I did have some issue but same as all the others I have owned. KZ was a family owned business up until a few years ago but is now Owned By Thor. I would assume the quality has gone down to meet Thor's standard. -
Camp site at home
Andrew Roberts replied to Andrew Roberts's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
thanks for the replies, Im doing this mostly so I don't have to flush the tanks until I get home from trips. Ill still dump the heavy load (if you will) at the campgrounds but then flush out the tanks at home. It will also be nice to use it fully at home if we get a bunch of guests at one time. -
So Im making a full hook up site at my home. Already ran 50amp service. This week Im going to lay pipe and connect the sewer and water. Anyone ever done this and, if so what type of trap did you use to keep sewer gases from come back. Im thinking of doing a P style trap in 4 inch pipe I think it would work. it is a 4 foot grade down hill from where the campsite is the the sewer so no issues as far as space for the trap Thanks

Traveling at Night?
Andrew Roberts replied to GPoppins's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I do it in one shot form time to time form south bend Indiana. but to tell the truth you really don't save anytime. if I stop for about 6 hours and sleep somewhere usually around Macon then I arrive at the fort feeling good and set up in time to enjoy a nice night. if I push on through and do it all at once then I exhausted and then have to set up just so I can go in and crash feeling like crap. I have had reasons do do it both ways.I do prefer to drive at night. everything runs cooler and no traffic jams or construction delays -

Tropical storm Erika and Disney
Andrew Roberts replied to ~Kristina~'s topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I was at Coronado Springs for Hurricane Floyd and I must say all the letters that disney gave us leading up to the storm and during were impressive. On the bad side THERE IS NOT A DAMN THING YOU CAN DO BUT SIT IN YOUR ROOM WHEN THE STORM HITS. and a few years back some tropical storm hit while we were at the fort staying in the 300 loop I had to move sites because the tree limbs were slapping the sides of our TT we had at that time. The part I remember most about Floyd was were trapped and could not go anywhere. The thing with the tropical storm was we, had decided that if there was any chance -

Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
If disney 's rule is licensed drivers only and Reedy Creek is the authority then I would think Orange County Pd could right tickets based of of that -
Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
It would be interesting to see how it would apply. Once you invite the public in for the purpose of profit a lot of this would change. And I know there are some lawyers on here What do you guys think? -

Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
As for the golf cart lovers and supporters out there I don't hate the golf carts and have rented them a few time and will again. It is just that a vehicle needs to be operated with respect for the damage and injuries they can cause and that has not been enforced at the fort. -
Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine If the above link works then take a look. If I'm reading this correctly then a child 14 and over can legally operate a golf cart at the fort as long as reedy creek has proved the use of golf carts in that area -
Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I dont understand how charging a fee would help you from liability. In fact it would say you were condoning the activity making you even more liable. However proof of Insurance would make a big difference on who was and who was not operating them. Orange County and Fl State Police issue traffic tickets all over WDW. Why are they not enforcing the laws since these are roadways? -
Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I'm not sure if they would ever ban carts but it sure seems like most nights they cause a lot of issues leading me to think they just might. I know I'm not the best at keeping a quiet peaceful campsite but I sure would love a night without screeching golf cart tires -
Will we fit in a perferred site?
Andrew Roberts replied to Arielsfanmom's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
Mine is 42foot and I have had issues in all loops with it fitting. It won't matter if you reserve preferred or premium. what maters is the size of the site and the angle of approach to back into it. I have a CDL and have a lot of big truck experience some of these sites are impossible -
Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I think I see a time in the future where they end the cart thing all together no rentals and no privately owned ones. Im sure there is some big discussions of liability being had after the last drunk took a drive in the lake. At some point the rental fee woke equal the risk. I wish they get ride of them all and replace them with the surrey bikes -
Sheriff Action in the Fort
Andrew Roberts replied to Travisma's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
my question is when a cart full of kids hit the side of my rig? Who is responsible? Disney the cart owner, the uninsured, under age driver, or My insurance. My guess is it is only a matter of time before we all find out the above answers. Or the most the likely to get hit is a Disney bus. -
Check in at the Fort.
Andrew Roberts replied to brittthomas's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I have checked in as early as 3 am on the day of arrival if the spot is open they will let you in if it is not they will send you to the overflow lot. If the bonder has a generator then take a nap in the parking lot
